Made it seem like my request for help finding a product was an inconvenience to them, to have to move and look for an item. Mood and attitude of 2/3 of the staff were rude/as if I had offended them by asking to for help (to do your job).

They treat their staff well, and they are local people. It's a real community store. I like to support them instead of driving to another town.

So I’m not sure if this review will get to anyone who matters. But I went into sooke homehardware to get some paint chips there was 2 young girls and a manager of paint at the paint desk all three of them did a very good job of ignoring me and not asking if I needed help. This is not a review to bag on those in your store with terrible customer service but to mention the shinning star in your store! All three of those paint people disappeared without asking me if I needed help but a sweet young man not even in paint stopped and asked if I needed help! His name was Bon. I wish that the owner of this store would give him a raise or praise for being a very good customer associate. He went above and beyond. I hope the manager knows that this young man is the reason I’ll ever shop there again. His customer service is so wonderful in a world of employees who ignore the customer. Thanks Bon you are wonderful and this store is oh so lucky to have you represent them what a gem you are❤️

They didn't have what I was looking for even though the website said they had it. No help just some kid hiding out back. Need to carry tapererd siding boards.

I checked the website and saw that they were open until 6:00. So I drove half an hour to get some drywall only to be told that the "yard" closed at 5:00. It was 5:10 and I was denied service. Seems they don't respect customer's time.

Owner “Tolv” wouldn’t sell a roofing shingle from an open, scattered bundle. I only needed one for some grip on a ramp for my handicapped dog. He said 50 bucks for the whole scattered mess.When I said I’m a local and have been shopping there for 20 years, he ignored me and went about his business. Lol. Bye Tolv.

Never heard of plexiglass. I asked for clear plexiglass and was shown opaque core plastic. Later in the day, I showed up at 5:55pm and was greeted with a locked door. They close at 6pm. Small town "zero F's" kinda place. Can drive to nearest "other guys" hardware store, and get stuff I need, faster. As a contractor, time is money. This place has cost me enough. If I need it badly, and I'm in Sooke, it's faster, cheaper, and I can deal with higher educated people, at any other store, drive included.

Linda in the paint section is an asset for sure. Many of the students have little knowledge of products yet they stand around chatting not making better use of their time learning details of products and exact locations.
