I recently visited this LifeLabs location for the first time because my usual lab had no available appointments soon enough. I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth the walk-in process was—efficient, prompt, and fast. The staff, including the tech who checked me and my husband in, were accommodating and straightforward, with no fuss at all. I waited a maximum of 10 minutes before being called.
I have a strong fear of needles and often faint during blood draws, but Mandy, the nurse who performed my bloodwork, made the experience much more comfortable. Her friendly demeanor helped calm my nerves, and despite my low pain tolerance, I felt virtually no discomfort. I will definitely return to this location and specifically request Mandy in the future.
My husband also had bloodwork done at the same time, but his took about 10 minutes longer due to some initial issues with his file. Although the older nurses seemed a bit intimidating, our overall experience was very positive, especially considering it was a walk-in visit.

I've been doing blood test at this location for the last few months and each and every time the staff has been so accommodating and professional, super friendly attitude and they really know what they are doing, my last visit was July 31st and Myrna helped me with her charming attitude, basically everyone there is great. I've been going every couple weeks as I'm a kidney patient and these girls actually show sympathy and caring when they take my blood because I'm so scared of needles.
I drive 30 mins to go to this location because all surrey locations are crazy.
Thank you to all the staff and 100% management for making our visits so special ❤️
God bless you all
See you guys on the 15th again
Thanks

July 9, 2024 - would give 0/5 if possible - chinese lady (with glasses & a loud angry voice) in the middle front desk is rude and impatient. understandably, there are many patients waiting but her attitude is uncalled for. she blamed me for printing a requisition lol.
i don't know your procedures maa'm, you don't have to yell either

I come here every three months for lab work and 7am is one of the best times to come if you haven’t made an appointment. Staff are friendly and efficient here.

The staff thought I had only one test & asked me I can go & forgot my blood test. I have to mention it to her.

One major pro is that it’s easier to schedule an appointment here and the walk-in times seem shorter than other locations’. I got to get my blood work done earlier than my scheduled weekday afternoon appointment, which I scheduled earlier in the morning.
Regarding cons, it pains me to write the following about a healthcare worker but I have to share. Regarding the care I felt at the facility, it was near to none. It was clear it was my first time at Life Labs (I recently moved to Canada). I didn’t have a profile and I asked questions about what to do and where to go after my name was called. The shorter, wider Asian female nurse managed to ignore all my questions and fail to give me cues on how the process works, all while avoiding eye contact with me the entire time. For example - Is a care card my BC MSP card? Do I sit at the station now (She was blocking the entrance)? Should I take off my watch? Are you done taking my blood work? Should I press on this cotton over my wound? Should I move up the armrest to leave? Where are the bathrooms for the urine sample? Where do I put my urine sample when I’m done? Do I need to notify anyone or receive paperwork note that I’m done? The only helpful thing she said to me was at the end: “you can go now,” and it wasn’t even an answer to my asking if the urine sample belonged in the barely tray container by the bathroom. The nurse seemed robotic and zombie-like. It was all an awkward, at the very least, and dehumanizing aspect of having to take care of my health.
Many reviews seriously weren’t kidding about poor treatment and feeling less than at Life Labs. Before my appointment yesterday I found them hard to believe. How can a nurse, someone who is suppose to have compassion for a person, be like that? But believe me this nurse was so committed to giving me the bare minimum amount of care it was almost impressive (but of course highly concerning).

With the physical and mental health issues I have, even something like fasting for a blood test is challenging. After enduring a morning of symptoms as a result of not being able to eat, I visited this location only to find they were arbitrarily closed in the middle of the day, with no indication of this showing up online.
This led to an anxiety attack, and me being sick in the street out in the rain.
After reading the other reviews people have left, I realize the negligence of the staff here is doing real harm to sick people. I’d advise you to visit the No. 3 Road location instead. The waits are longer, but they actually do their job there.

I always get an appointment as the 6451 Buswell, Richmond location can get busy. Today's appointment was for 12:25pm.The listed wait for walk-ins was 98 minutes perhaps due to lunch hour.To sign up for an appointment online could be more user friendly but is worth doing to avoid waiting. There are about 7 two hour free parking spots half a block down Cooke Street, 2 west bound & 5 east bound.
