Cute place. Great Attention. You need to ask about the training and activities there.

This review is for the PoMo Arts Center, right in the heart of Port Moody (NOT for the entire city of Port Moody, as the earlier reviewer was somehow under the impression). And the POMOarts Center and organization in general is pretty darn fabulous. I was only recently introduced to PomoArts by an awesome friend of mine who is an artist and recently exhibited some of her artwork here (check out the PoMo "Art4Life" website for info about this awesome exhibition showcasing over 20 artists. The show is on for a month, admission is free, and it's super cool, with a diverse variety of local artists' works in many different mediums). This art organization is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year! The PoMo building here is beautiful, in an old "heritage building", reminiscent of some of the traditional, historic buildings in Fort Langley and elsewhere in the province. And I really liked the whole philosophy behind this arts-focused organization, how they aim to make art available to everyone. In that vein, admission to their art shows are open to the public, and they encourage all to come, to be involved, to participate. They offer a gazillion programs for everyone from toddlers to teenagers to adults of all ages, like a real community center with programs for all. I really like that. If I lived closer, I'd definitely enroll in some of these programs. This building not only has rooms for gallery art shows and classes, but they also have a super gift shop where you can purchase artsy items made by local artists and artisans (see my review for the Blackberry Gift Shop). Port Moody, you are so lucky to have such a fabulous art organization!

This place is so lovely! You need to stop in their gallery to see the most beautiful artwork. Also, take a peek in the gift shop, you will not be disappointed! This Port Moody gem is so worth it. My kids attend art camps in the summer and they love what they are learning plus the space is really nice.Easy free parking outside. Right across the parking lot is a pop up park that's so much fun. Life size chess and other fun things to keep your kids occupied. Plus there's shade and seating for hot days.

PoMoArts is a great place to visit and see works of local artists. They also have a great gift shop there where you can buy gift items made by local artists. This year I participated in Port Moody's annual art walk in June in which PoMoArts was one of the locations to visit. That time my daughter took part in a free hands-on wood carving session and it was great! Next year I would like to do the art walk again.

I attended an artist's lecture and tour. Very profound story of artist's life that brought him to express his experiences through painting. Moving, emotional, challenging to us, the listener. As it should be. Art should not be easy.

I have taken a few classes here growing up, but just finished my class with Georgia .She is one of the best teachers I've had, not just for ceramics but in general! It says a lot when you can teach a class for people who are brand new, yet still manage to make things interesting for someone with experience! I took this as a refresher, but have taken a lot away from my classes with her. She does a really good job of taking terms that may not mean a lot if you don't have a background in art and making them easily understandable for everyone. Even though I was taking a beginners class she didn't shy away from helping me with more advanced projects and was happy to answer any questions I had! If you are someone who is looking to get into pottery I would highly recommend a class with Georgia!

I have personally purchased several carvings here. The artists are simply spectacular. I hope one day my own art can be in the line up of work. I highly recommend stopping in and supporting the wide array of fabulous art. There are many functional art pieces too, like jewelry, bookmarks etc (you can use it for something & it's beautiful is what I meant by functional) You could probably do all your Christmas shopping here - it is one of the broadest and best selection of art in the lower mainland, in my opinion. Great work!

You don't get feedback from your instructor if you ask any questions during open studios. Not a great place to learn art from the scratch, if you want to go for fun, that's ok

Amazing place, a joy to spend time at. Highly recommend the pottery classes with Ysabella, if you can snag a spot. Supportive, vibrant, and diverse atmosphere to guide you creatively, whether professionally or recreationally.
