It is no secret that the company that colonized North America and has been our retail go to for over 300 years is struggling. Of all the Bay stores still left however, this one is completely derelict. I was shocked at how little product is left in the store.
An employee told me most depts haven't had new stock in over a year and she wonders every day if that will be the day the store finally closes. This iconic business is in a spiral and this location seems to have already crashed and burned. It is sad to watch the demise of Hudsons Bay during my lifetime.

I love The Bay! It makes me feel nostalgic ?. I remember my mom taking me shopping at The Bay when I was a kid.. I like that they have higher end items and that their standards are quite high. They have a great selection of perfume and colognes etc. And of course the layout is great. Wide aisles. Easy to find stuff you do not feel claustrophobic at all. Still a great store after all these years! I recommend trying it again if you haven't been there for a while..

Sunday June 27, 2024 1:23 PM really awful rude service from “Kirsten”. Condescending and apathetic. Obviously they don’t care about their customers and have an aversion to accountability. I came here a week ago and there was no service at all, which honestly was more enjoyable.

A real treat to shop at. Hit a great sale on towels and sheets up to 50% off. Very helpfull staff. Will be going back as a forever store. The ladies were a hoot.

I went to the bay, penticton, british columbia(2111 Main St, Penticton, BC V2A 6V1) on 30th april 2024.
I did some shopping and one employee asked us to buy met gala ticket for $5 happening on 8th may 2024. We denied first as we weren’t available on that day in the city. But she told us that you can pre-order anything from the store and get 15% off on the bill and get some “gifts”. Then we went ahead and bought the ticket.
We went to the same store again on may 5, 2024 to put aside some clothes for pre-order but were then informed that the ticket doesn’t apply to clothing. Then we wanted to buy jewelry but the same thing happened. In the end, we decided to buy some perfumes. We gave it to the employee who was helping us that day and gave her all the details for pre-order. The amount got deducted on 8 may 2024 automatically for the perfumes.
We picked it up on 10 or 11 may 2024. The bag had the perfumes and 5 small items which i believe were the things i won with my ticket at the gala. But then couple days later a friend of mine said she can get the same perfumes for me for much lower price through employee discount. I went today to the store to return the perfumes as you have a return policy and this is not my first time buying from the bay as well. You can check using my phone number how much i spend at the bay regularly.
The experience I received today was the worst customer service experience ever in my life. I went to the cosmetic section to return the perfumes and told them i’m getting better price and they told me we can do price match. I told them it was employee discount that I'm getting from some other place. They said we don’t do employee discount price match which is fine. But then the GM entered and was very rude with me. He said you can’t expect us to price match employee discount, which i never asked for in the first place. I simply told them it was return. And then he said that we don’t accept returns for the products bought on met gala as you also received gifts on that day. I told him i can bring that back as well, to which he said no but his tone and body language suggested he was implying that i only bought the ticket to get “free gifts” from met gala.
I felt very insulted and immediately went home and brought back the “free gifts” and handed them over to the employee who sold me the ticket that day. She went to the gm and told him and he said yeah we’ll take them back. I told him i felt very insulted by the way he talked and handled the situation and his reply was “its not my mistake if you felt insulted, and i’ll take these items back so you don’t feel insulted again”. By this answer he made me sure that according to him i was only in it for the “free things”. And eventually he took everything back which i had won.
This is the worst customer experience ever and i would never be going to this bay again. I will also not recommend anyone to shop here, instead shop at any other bay store. I have been to all the bays in surrey, langley, kelowna, vernon, kamloops, victoria. And this is the worst experience I’ve ever had. The penticton bay store has worst gm possible by any retail store standards.
I’ve been in customer service for 5 years and this was the exact opposite of customer service that I experienced at this store.
