Little worried about the well-being of the dogs here. Was wanting to adopt but they won’t even let you see a dog if you come to the shelter. How are you expecting people to adopt if they can’t even meet the dog? The reasoning was that the dogs get too excited, does that mean all they do is sit in cages all day and aren’t allowed any socializing? Thought this was a positive organization but apparently not. They’d probably be better off on the streets than in cages all the time

Absolutely incredible and kind staff who have an affinity for the animals they provide for. I went to see if they had any senior babies (who were good with other cats) as that seems to be hard to come by, but I would love love love to adopt a cat in its golden years to give it love and companionship . I went in to see the kitties, and the lovely lady was helping me and introducing all the cats. I pet a big beautiful orange boy whos new mom is coming for him tomorrow, and a sweetie-pie Juniper from a bonded pair they had. She let me know very softly that they didn't really have any cats that met the criteria, BUT that they would keep my application and call me if any beautiful senior babies came in. I loved my experience here and my interactions with the staff here (through telephone and various adoption applications) I've never been treated kinder and could not reccomend them higher .

As a local business owner, I am deeply committed to supporting BC SPCA South Okanagan/Similkameen through donations of food and supplies. Each visit to this facility only strengthens my resolve to help this noble cause. The staff here are nothing short of amazing. Every individual, led by the incredible Holly, the manager, exudes warmth, friendliness, and a deep commitment to animal welfare. Holly’s leadership and helpful nature have made a significant impact, making every interaction both meaningful and delightful. The facility itself mirrors the staff’s excellence - always spotless, organized, and welcoming. It’s clear that the comfort and well-being of the animals are of utmost importance here. And speaking of the animals, they are truly the heart of this place. Every visit is a heartwarming experience, seeing all these wonderful animals so well cared for, eagerly waiting for their forever homes. It’s impossible not to fall in love with each of them during every visit. In essence, BC SPCA South Okanagan/Similkameen is more than just a shelter; it’s a community of compassionate individuals united for a great cause. I am immensely proud to support them and encourage others to do the same. Their dedication and the positive atmosphere they create are truly inspiring.

I recently experienced a my first foster to adopt. The staff were amazing, answered my questions and permitted me time to have a moment with her and no pressure to commit. To care for animals that are struggling at no fault of their own takes a special person. The staff and volunteers are to be commended. They fully supplied me with all her needs while she was in foster. She has since been adopted and we continue her journey together.

They have such a sweet and caring staff. I think the least we could do is donate to help all the animals in need ?

Oddly, they had no cats or kittens the day we were there. Hmmmm, for a city the size of Penticton and the fact that they are the only SPCA all the way down the OK Valley to the USA, I was surprised that they had zero cats needing rehoming.
