I took my car in for an oil change. They said that they found an issue that needs to be fixed right away and it will cost $4000. I took my car somewhere else for a second opinion and they said there was nothing wrong with my car.Don't. Go.to. midas.

Can not say enough good things about the team at Midas. We had our catalytic converter stolen from our vehicle right out side our house, it was a traumatic experience to say the least. Sue helped us with our ICBC claim and took care of all our concerns. The team had our car back on the road right away, even before ICBC could even source us a rental car. Thanks again Sue.Services: Exhaust

5 STAR RATING for Midas North Vancouver! They are the tire, brake and serving experts. They treat their customers honestly and fairly, with excellent customer service. I've been going to this shop exclusively for 5+ years and I'm very satisfied with their service. They have the (gold) "Midas Touch" when it comes to car repairs.

All they had to do was put on new tires and put snow tires in back of vehicle, as I asked and was told, " of course no problem" I gave the tires to order and had to return in 5 days before 9am ready at noon. I paid for everything. My wife did arrive before 9 am.. Wrong tires arrived come back at 2pm. Not ready until 4pm. About to leave my wife looked in back. No snow tires. Had to go back. All young except receptionist. No experience. Useless. Never again.Service: Tires

They took our car to fix the air-conditioner and one hour before picking it up they just call with extra money to add on the receipt because they did a mess in another part and they were asking for extra payments for things we didn’t ask for.when we arrived to the store I tried to ask politely for the person who was there and he was rude super rude saying “ am not here for another argument “ and he interrupted me ..honestly its completely a disappointed experience ..the service is bad .. and the way they talk with people is worst ..Nothing to add but I don’t recommend it for professional people.

Customer service here is top notch. I went to them when they were on Fell next to Salvation Army. I recently went to new location to get work done on my Jeep- Sue the manager in the front is always so warm and cool. The mechanic who has been with them the longest is so sweet, I wish I got his name. He did a drive test on my Jeep with me and really helped me and pointed me in the right direction. Sue called the transmission business to help me get in an early appointment. These people are so kind. If you’re kind it goes a long way. Thanks again ???

Red flag city.Saw this particular business had 4.5 out of 5 stars and read through numerous reviews praising the workers' honesty and workmanship so I scheduled an appointment for a brake inspection for my squealing brakes. No grinding, they still work fine, they just squeal which typically indicates a need for pad replacement.Long story short, I'm told "Oh those brakes are really bad", "It's metal on metal". Followed by the suggestion that I get all my pads and rotors replaced to the tune of about $2,000 dollars. When I say I can't afford that all of a sudden I'm being told I'm in danger driving the car and they wouldn't feel comfortable with me leaving the lot without some work being done (lol). So now I miraculously no longer need all the brakes done, but should really replace the front pads and rotors for $900. Still not affordable so it then turns into a question of what I'm looking to pay. $500 was the budget I set and I said that, which was met with a refusal and then out of nowhere I'm told I have to pay a $50 dollar "inspection fee". That fee was never mentioned upfront so it just seemed like another way to siphon money from me.This wasn't my first auto mechanic rodeo and it felt insulting having the "rip-off your customer handbook" tried on me at length. I ate the "inspection fee" and will take the vehicle elsewhere for a 2nd opinion but I will never return to Midas or recommend it.Update: Already in touch with an independent mechanic well-known for honesty and just off my description of the issue doesn't even think I need any work done and definitely not $2,000 or even $1000 worth.Service: Brakes

I used midas to change my fuel injectors on my Jeep Grand Cherokee, it was leaking so I brought it to another shop, turns out that the fuel injectors are installed incorrectly, twisted misaligned. Cost me an additional $250 to fix an issue that shouldn't have been an issue if they did their job correctly.

Very knowledgeable professionals. Went in for a muffler to be welded back on they did 2 years ago. Didn't know the entire exhaust system is rusted out from cat to muffler. That I had replaced I 2017 at shop i won't go to anyone for exhaust work. Will get it done their when I can afford it.

Absolutely NO go to this shop, unless for simple work like tires, oil changes, bulb replacement etc.My car started to go roughly/shaking a bit when I was climbing the hill on a highway. After that I noticed rpms fluctuating when idling and finally the engine light came up. Next morning went directly to Midas at Marine Dr, as this was the closest shop at the time, same day they scanned the code (engine misfire) and claimed that one of the cylinders was full of oil, but they didn't know the reason. They cleaned it/cleared the code, charged me for the job and inspection and recommended that I show up again if the same problem occurs. In less than 2 weeks exactly the same symptoms appeared. So, I went to them again, and Sue - the front desk lady assured me that they needed to dive deeper this time to find the root cause. She called me back at noon the same day and said I have a coolant now in the same cylinder (how is that possible?) and the head gasket is leaking. So..., they can do the job but it will cost me roughly $5,000! as parts have to be machined at another shop, plus labor up to 2 weeks, and it is totally up to me to decide if I want to repair it. Of course, I took away the vehicle the same day as the whole story seemed fishy to me. Thanks to my fellow, after simple checks (coolant and oil levels and color were fine) and a proper mechanical shop visited, the finding was only an ignition coil failure. To conclude all being said, repair costs decreased "slightly" from about $5,000 to $350 and resulted in a month of problem free driving. I can only assume that these Midas guys have absolutely no clue what they are doing or worse, they are taking money for nothing.Once again, I strongly do not recommend this shop.Services: Auto engine diagnostic

I had a sudden alternator failure very close to their shop; called them and told them about the situation and the managed to accommodate me almost right away. I also asked them if they could readjust my parking brake and they took care of that too.During the alternator replacement (which was complicated on my vehicle as it required the removal of radiator hoses and fan), something happened to the radiator that caused it to leak after a about a week. Took the vehicle to the shop and they inspected it, and accepted responsibility for the mishap and took care of it. I understand the error can happen during any repairs, but these guys were really nice and professional and knowing how the dealt with this issue, I definitely trust them and recommend them.

Went there for an oil change, they rolled my window down and they couldn’t roll the window back up. I had told them not to touch the window or the switch over the phone, but when I had arrived they had decided to take extra time to take it apart and put it back together. Now my window doesn’t roll up all the way. after 24 hours of dealing with them I am told I have to pay 900 dollars for them to get my window back to normal. I had specifically told them on the phone not to touch my window, but they decided to mess around with it take it apart anyways and brake it. Poor communication, extremely expensive and a overall bad experience. Very displeased and angry. Not professional.Edit: the window had been working perfectly before. Sometimes the button sticks and you just have to hold it down for 2-3 seconds. When receiving the car the electronics still worked and the window would only roll up halfway. Under their care, they took my window apart (even when told not to over the phone) and ruined it.

Quite possibly the worst experience at any shop. Asked for an oil change, got a tire rotation when told not to and charged for it. They mentioned new rotors and brakes were needed. When asked what was wrong with the rotors they said "It just needs to be done". The tech pushed numerous times after telling him no, and pushed for a new cabin air filter when told I would change it myself. He said "you don't want to be breathing that, you have to change it." It was just changed, there is no odor, the is no debris. After personally going in to ask what the specific problem with the rotors were, was told "they get build up on them". That's it. No other problems. Didn't say there was vibrations, any high sides, any warping, no pulsing under load. Nothing. Flat out lied to and told to get new rotors. I said you can just machine the high side and turn them if needed. Their response "that's more expensive.". Another lie. As someone who works on cars and doesn't have the time to deal with this, its incredibly upsetting to have someone try and take advantage at you over the phone, and double down with MORE lies in person to get more money out of you. The rotors are perfectly fine as they were replaced not 10,000km ago. After grilling the clerk to please get the tech so I can ask what the problem really is, the tech refused to come out of his office. He would not show his face nor answer ANY question involving the "problems" and only offered false information as to why they needed to be changed. His final words were, and I absolutely quote, "It's just something we do. Change both the rotors and the pads at the same time.". THEY DON"T CHANGE THEM IF NEEDED?! THEY CHANGE THEM JUST BECAUSE?! This is absurd. Go elsewhere, please don't get taken advantage of.Fyi, I've worked on cars for awhile, and even took this elsewhere to get a second opinion. Midas quoted over $850 for front rotor/brakes. Literally anywhere else quoted UNDER $710. The rotors also look and feel fine according to anyone else.

Driving down Taylor Way this morning when a another motorist advised me my rear exhaust was about to Fall off. Immediately headed to Midas In North Van.( Marine & Cap Rd) The friendly service Manager “Mike” greeted me and was able to get my vehicle up on a hoist immediately. They reattached the loose stainless exhaust pipe within 10 minutes. Then advised there would be No charge as it was such a minor fix! Unbelievable “going the extra mile” service. I highly recommend that you use Mike & his Midas team for your auto service requirements. Eric HolmService: Exhaust
