Mark escalated a situation to a near-physical altercation with me today.
I asked Marks imports for my cars computer to be reprogrammed which would have cost me an hour of labour. When I arrived at the shop I was given an invoice for 2 hours of additional work that I didn't ask for or approve of being done to my car ($520 as opposed to $160).
I disputed the additional charges at the front desk. Mark should have explicitly made it clear that he wanted to do additional work on the car and get my approval before going ahead and racking up his labour hours. Marks' justification to that was that he charged me 3 hours instead of 4. I only wanted my car hooked up to a computer. Thats all I ever asked of their shop to do. It would have honestly taken someone maybe 20 minutes to complete.
Mark argued that it was my decision for him to do all of the extra work. I had to cut Mark off three times to say I absolutely didn't approve of all this additional mechanical work. ***Thats when Mark walked around the counter, went chest to chest with me and got inches from my face.*** His receptionist had to tell him to back away from me.
I've never experienced anything like this before. That level of unprofessionalism is astounding. I could have dealt with this dispute much differently if Mark didn't decide to escalate it to a near-physical altercation with me. I am simply beside myself. I paid Mark for 2 of the 3 hours he billed me for and left his shop quickly.
Hopefully this is a teachable moment for him.
