This review is specifically for Tanner and the entire team at this store!
I want to personally thank Tanner for fitting me with a harness and getting me prepared for my mountaineering training!
Personally having no knowledge of this sport and having someone like Tanner who was very knowledgeable, gave explanations and recommendations, and didn’t just push the most expensive product. He took the time to demo a harness on me and didn’t rush me through. Helped me choose the correct ropes and climbing equipment!
I will be coming back to this location due to this experience with Tanner, and the rest of the amazing staff at this location!

Staff are very knowledgeable and consistently provide exceptional service. Simarjit and the rest of the team at the Langley location was very helpful at my most recent visit. They went above and beyond to make sure I had the gear I needed for an upcoming hike/trip.

500 dollar raincoats? What a joke.
I used to love Mec. Now it's all 1000 watches. Where's the cheap Tarn 2, a cheap sleeping bag, bugspray, plb's instead of getting ripped off by spot/iridium. Where's the cheap Mec version that was always better and tougher than the brand names.
Instead of basic cheap mountain supplies, Mec is now this useless ugly thing for rich people.

I’m not sure if it’s a company thing or just this location but time and again I order items that are “in stock” pick up today and come to find out that it needs to be brought in from another location adding days (if not a week) to something I wanted sooner than later

Staff is not very knowledgeable about basic products in the store. Not even able to provide me with product prices!
I am surprised to hear the cashier tell me that if someone shops at MEC without a membership there is no warranty on any of their products even if the manufacturer has a warranty. Either this staff is really uninformed or this is a really poor warranty practice.

I recently bought my very first MEC bike, second-hand, and wanted a reliable place to help answer all my bike-related questions and find somewhere I could take my bike for service and parts.
I had Simarjit assist me on my first walk-in, and let me tell you, I have never had such a wonderful customer service interaction before. Simarjit was quick to answer all my questions and was very helpful with his recommendations. He frequently checked in to make sure I was attended to, helped me purchase a few things for my bike, and made sure my bike was serviced within the hour. He would see me walk into the store and immediately come over to assist me—that is great customer service.
I also want to give a big shoutout to Andrew, who was the tech working on my bike. He didn’t just hand it back but took the time to explain what he had done and gave me some helpful tips. I had a few questions about how to take care of the bike, and Andrew went above and beyond to make sure I got all the information I needed. He was patient and took his time to walk me through everything.
In conclusion, I am so grateful I stumbled across MEC and both Simarjit and Andrew. Their customer service is 11/10, and they have definitely won me over as a customer. Moving forward, all my gear purchases, bikes, outdoor needs, and bike tune-ups will definitely be at MEC.
Thanks again for the amazing service—no doubt MEC has hired some A-star employees.

I would only use this location to purchase items. I wouldn't depend on it to have the good customer service you're used to at Mec Van or North Van. The frontline manager there has zero interpersonal skills. Depend on when you go, some staff have great gear knowledge.

We visited the Langley location today in search of hiking shoes for our son. I was so disappointed by the lack of customer service. While there were two staff members in the shoe department, neither greeted us or offered to help us. After waiting ten minutes with a shoe in hand, I had to interrupt their own socializing to ask for a size. Same problem when we were looking for a rain jacket - had to interrupt staff socializing to ask for help.
MEC, we have always loved your store and supporting such great products. But today’s visit was an absolute slap in the face. In the end, we went to Atmosphere where we were cheerfully greeted, provided the help we needed and left with the hiking shoes we wanted to purchase from you within five minutes. They will get our business from now on.
