This once was a wonderful, welcoming location to shop. Customer service has rapidly declined over the years with employees barely able to raise a smile, the attitude from some is unbelievable and down right rude and dismissive. I've held back writing a review but today was the clincher. The person stood at the till watching me busily trying to bag my groceries as 5 people were waiting behind me. Instead of helping, the next few customers were rung through with their groceries mixing in with mine. Good grief. Kick up the customer service please. A little goes a long way. A smile is everything. A simple hello can brighten someone's day. Help bag some groceries to get things moving faster. If you don't like your job, and for some working there, it's obvious, do yourself a favor and find another job. You may be happier doing so

For the prices we pay and the profits that the grocery stores make the least they could do is pack our groceries for us…. Seems like the cashiers have taken a page out of the freshco handbook and just stand there watching us do it… don’t they realize that they are replaceable by machines?

After numerous terrible experiences over the years, related to a certain employee that constantly failed to do her job, I spoke with the manager, Brad. It turned out to be a wonderful conversation. Brad listened to my concerns and even refunded $32.00 that I had over-paid due to that employee. It's sad & disturbing that certain union employees are able to underperform without appropriate accountability. Due to the unions in BC, it's virtually impossible to dismiss an employee for continued poor work performance.I felt Brad went above & beyond to compensate for her less than adequate work ethic. Thanks Brad!

I was in at noon, for lunch. I know some other Save On Foods have a deli where they make you a custom sandwich. I thought this one did it too. Apparently not. First the staff was trying to convince me the premade packaged sandwiches were good (very different from what I wanted). Even though there was 6 or 7 people working behind the counter there and no other customers, they didn't make a sandwich for me. So I decided to get a few things in the store, including a bulk food item.
I always want to check out with a person but only two tils were open and it was customers there with carts full for a week or a couple weeks or so worth of food so would have been a long wait for lunch. No express lane open. I am against the self checkouts but my lunch is passing me (I'm working so this is my chance to eat). So I use the self checkout.
Self checkout doesn't take cash (what I wanted to use) so I can use my card. But then it comes to the bulk item and I don't know how to look for that in their list of thousands of items. I click the button for assistance on the screen. No one is around. No one comes. Eventually I go up to one staff member at a til and say I need some assistance at the self checkout. Someone eventually comes, and he gives an attitude and no apology, nothing. Tons of staff but only two cashiers open? No express lane? With the two lineups, since I only have a short time for my lunch break I am pushed to use the machines, then attitude, after the deli refused to make anything.
It's nope, no sandwich, it's we want you to use self-checkouts, it's don't use cash, it's you find the codes and it's attitude.
We used to have customer service in Canada. Friendly greetings by actual local Canadian people, and cashiers did the job of punching in the codes for items or scanning and would bag for you and care about customers.
Obviously next time I'm looking for a sandwich for lunch I'll go elsewhere.

Service is slipping. Last week I went through the cashier. Had my own bags. Still had to bag my own groceries? Really? Why use the cashier? Today I went through the self-checkout. When I place my bag in the checking area, it then doesn’t permit me to scan my items. The human “assistant” is no where to be found. Finally shows up and corrects the issue. When I place bag # 2 in the checking area, we repeat the process. That means I have to handle my groceries 3 times!!! When selecting them, when scanning them, when bagging them! Explain the situation, fix the situation or I’ll just shop elsewhere!

Having been a loyal customer of Save-On-Foods in Ladner for the past 28 years, I've always appreciated the exceptional service and welcoming atmosphere that the staff consistently provide. However, my recent experience at the pharmacy, particularly with Linda, was quite disheartening. Despite my understanding that everyone has their off days, the level of hostility and lack of professionalism displayed during my interaction left me taken aback.
I firmly believe that constructive feedback is crucial for improvement, which is why I attempted to revisit the issue in hopes of a more positive resolution. Regrettably, the subsequent encounter only reaffirmed my initial disappointment. As someone who values empathy and understanding, it was disconcerting to be met with such an immature and negative attitude.
Save-On-Foods in Ladner has always been more than just a grocery store to me; it's been a cornerstone of my community experience. That's why it pains me to have to leave a less-than-stellar review. However, I believe it's essential to hold establishments accountable for maintaining the high standards they've set for themselves.
I sincerely hope that this incident serves as a learning opportunity for the management team and staff at the pharmacy. I remain optimistic that steps will be taken to address any underlying issues and ensure that future customers do not have to encounter similar experiences.
Despite this isolated incident, my admiration for Save-On-Foods in Ladner remains unwavering. I trust that the dedication to exceptional service and customer satisfaction that has defined this establishment for nearly three decades will prevail.
Thank you for taking the time to read my feedback, and I look forward to seeing positive changes in the future.

Customer service here is garbage. I was clearly struggling trying to bag all my groceries. It was a big shop. Cashier just stood there watching instead of helping, making everyone else in line wait when they could have expedited the whole process by assisting. Jimmy keeps cranking the prices while customer service has gone completely down hill.

Groceriey prices are reasonable. Can't always find someone to assist to answer questions when required.

Lowering rating, as they just increased prices across the board by 15% across the whole store. Right before Christmas. Humbug.

Cleaned on a regular basis, covid protection for you and the staff are apparent. Parking is convenient and this location has other shopping options. One stop shop for all seasonal gatherings.

I was in this location on October 23, 2023 as a visitor to change over magazine logos for my company and I had asked the service desk for the washroom code. I had been in a few other SOF’s to logo magazine displays with this same panel for the bathroom lock and I already knew how it worked. It flashed red signaling to me that someone was in there so I was just waiting for a minute or two, minding my own business. A team member passing by saw me waiting and asked me if I needed help, I just said I was waiting for the washroom and that I was fine. A female meat/seafood team member overheard (I unfortunately didn’t get her name but I’m sure you can look on the schedule and figure it out) and butted in and told me no one was in there. I told her that the code panel was flashing red. She immediately cut me off and told me I wasn’t entering it in right, asked my what my “paper said” as if I was a child in school needing to be walked through my ABC’s. Scolding me as if I was stupid. I used to work for save on, I know how far store leadership goes with customer complaints about team members, it’s just a slap on the wrist and a ”don’t do it again” especially for PreRAT employees like this one clearly is. I would never, even on my worst day treat a customer like this, one who wasn’t even asking for your help in the first place. I think it’s time to retire don’t you think? Absolutely uncalled for.
