New store, well laid out, worth the visit

I went in looking for a part and doing some browsing. There was a sign saying that only cards were accepted. The part I wanted worked out to $15. I realized I had forgotten my cards, and I had a $20 bill. I asked if I could pay in cash. One of their guys, Pardeep, was walking by the till, and he said they would take cash, but only the $20 bill. He said that I should purchase something additional adding up to $20, and they would accept the $20 bill. He said they had no $5 bills. Take away from that what you will. It sounds like a double standard to me. I think you are paying the premium for them being open late. A lot of information in the tone of his voice.

Looks like they're moving to S Burnaby (North Fraser Way) in November 2020. Get your parts here while you still can. This location will be missed.

Well...it's an electronics store, they all sell the same stuff. But I see that a lot of people have already said what I'm going to say. The staff at this place are unbelievably rude, not just unhelpful but RUDE, I don't go to this place anymore, once, maybe I caught someone on a day...but every time I've gone to the store it's happened. And I'm not making complex requests...asking what the price of something behind the counter is, asking where a certain item can be found, asking for something that is supposed to be in stock but they say it isn't I say, "That's not what I was told yesterday, can you check please?" (They are saying "No" without even looking, just on memory they pronounce themselves "out" of what some other employee said was "In" is it unreasonable for me to ask them to check the computer or the shelf? If you don't think it is either then go to Lee's on Main street. The people at Lee's fully engage with customers and help all they can, that's why there are always like 8 people on staff at Lee's because they actually NEED that many, they are so busy helping customers. With so many people having the same experience I had, I can't understand why RP continues to operate the way they do...I'm guessing the owner is someone who gets off on being rude to customers and encourages it in his employees...Well, can YOU think of an explanation? It just doesn't make sense...AVOID.

I was just just responding to a reddit question where people asked what store I will never do business at again and your store came firmly to mind, frankly to me the one star is still too high. Out of the number of times easily 10+ I visited and purchased expensive things every time except once (the tall white guy with long I wanna say blond hair, this guy was super helpful) I have hated the experience. I primarily had to deal with the same employee, who was arrogant and extremely unhelpful. The time that pissed me off the most I needed some components to build something and needed help picking what would work best, at first I tried to find it myself and the, said to myself ok I need to ask for help, already knowing I was going to hate the experience. I asked the guy if he would show me where a specific component is he said over there and vaguely pointed. I had to ask if he would actually show me, he begrudgingly walked over and pointed, before I could grab it and ask about the next component I needed he was gone, he probably didn't even stop waking when he pointed it out I had to chase him down to point out components twice more! Why I spent 200$ in your store that day and didn't just walk out I have no idea. But I have not been back in over a year and will never set foot in there ever again, or even send anyone from work to buy components, hopefully you know who this toxic employee is and has been fired them for loosing I am sure more then one customer.

RP used to have excellent service before they moved to this location. Now they have a bigger store and better selection but customer service has gone downhill. It doesn't help that now most of their stuff can be had on Amazon and other online stores for a lot cheaper. If you can't wait for Amazon to ship, go to Lee's on Main where their staff is a lot more helpful.

I saw these guys at this year's Mini Maker Market 2014. They were one of many 3D printing booths. Their booth was really busy of people curious over their models. Not much presentation as the process is semi self-explanatory, however, they were cool with allowing you to touch the samples and to watch the slow process of an item being made in person.

I have never had such poor customer service in my life. Honestly. I politely asked for a product they stock and I was shown where they are kept in the store. The female clerk then left me to make my selection. When I brought the item to the counter to ask about how to best use the product I was met with a very flat "I don't know." from the detached female "salesperson". I asked if perhaps the fellow staff member standing next to her knew the product and he said "No." I asked if there was someone else on the premises that could be of help and they both stared at me with blank gazes. I remarked that it seems strange that they would stock a product line but not know anything about it. Do you know what the male clerk said? He said "Google it." He literally said that. Google it. My jaw hit the floor. I walked out. I thought about asking to speak with a manager, but I didn't want to make my day any more uncomfortable. Google it. Amazing that both these salespeople had no knowledge of the product nor wanted to help a customer find more information. I thought these two might be impostors, holding the real employees in the back somewhere. I could not believe my ears... I sincerely hope the managers and owners of RP Electronic Components Ltd. read this review and maybe have a team meeting or something to review best practices and common customer service. Or at least they could get the staff to Google it. Two thumbs down.

The 3 stars is for the excellent service provided by Dennis. I have been trying to replace my misplaced power adaptor for my portable DVD player. Dennis spent the time to try out a few adaptors but the pin was too large, they have walls of pins but nothing fit. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything but the customer service was top notch. Huge warehouse type stores.

Woa! Did I just get ripped off at this store? I bought a length of cable a month ago. Today I needed more. I was suprised the price went up 55% in a month. They claim they charged me the same as last time. I checked my statement at home and they just ripped me off. Selection nice, clean store, good parking, service with smiles and all. A week later, an extra trip, pounding the counter, I did get a refund on the price difference.
