While shopping, we saw one of the employees who was an older lady, handling a little blue budgie. The budgie seemed a bit anxious but well trained. The employee claimed that she had trained the bird herself so I asked her how she did it. She then proceeded to grab the bird very tightly, slapping him with her finger and grabbing his beak, to claim that she had trained him so well that he didn't bite. I asked her multiple times if I could hold him just so she would stop. Her way of treating the little guy was so shocking and heartbreaking!

Disgusted by the treatment of pets here. An older Asian lady working here around 4:00 pm today abused a bird in front of me. I was so shocked I couldn't find the words. She would slap the birds face and constrict it like a child squeezing the life out of a small animal, while bragging to us that she was skilled at training birds. She would shove her fingers in the birds face while saying "see see! Look he doesn't bite!" My heart is broken and I will be reporting this store to all relevant authorities.

My favorite multi generation family owned pet supply store. I have spent probably around 15k buying nearly all my cat and dog food/supplies here for 8+ years. Most friendly owners of any pet store. Best prices of any pet store. And you can also have them order items they don't regularly carry if you want.
Not sure why i haven't remembered to make this review til now!

King Ed has some of the biggest varieties of fish that I’ve seen in a while! Spent a long time just admiring various species that I don’t often get to see in those big box stores. There’s also a huge selection of water heaters/coolers, various aquarium decors, etc. I do wish there was a bigger selection of aquatic plants though. But regardless, its selection of both saltwater and freshwater fishes was amazing!!

Very nice and knowledgeable people that care about the success of your pets instead of trying to just sell you something. I wanted to buy a mandarin goby, box fish etc and was talked out of it as I'm still new to the hobby. After much research I'm very glad I listened to their advice

Disappointingly, I've encountered frequent issues with King Ed Pet Centre not adhering to their stated opening hours. Despite Google indicating they're open, the store has consistently been closed upon my arrival. This has resulted in wasted time and frustration, especially when their website also confirms they're open. On one occasion, after a long drive, I arrived only to find out they were closed. Such inconsistencies have made it challenging to rely on their services. They wasted my time 3 times and finally, when one found them open they were so rude and disrespectful, especially a middle-aged Asian man.
And when I was reading the reviews I found they are not responding to complaints. Annoying

This place feels like home as I've been a customer (aqua-hobby) for so many years starting when I didn't have kids. I did take a little break before returning to the aqua-hobby. I'm quite a low-maintenance customer as I know what I want/need, do my own research, and know how much I'm willing to pay for something. I still find they have good prices for many items (for a pet store versus home business) and selection is good for my current needs. You can't find everything in one spot but I can get many things here. It's worth a visit to decide if you'll be a returning customer. It's definitely a "working" store and has always been. Parking is limited outside especially when it's busy but there are options around the neighbourhood.
