4-Wheel Alignment:
I went to this location (Burnaby, Metrotown) to do a 4- wheel alignment yesterday, the staff were friendly as always, however, when I got my key back, this location did not give me a proper before and after report of my wheel alignment, it was a jpg file and I had to take a picture using my phone off of the staffs work phone. I left without much due diligence. Later I found out the before and after readings are still complete off and more interestingly, the car spec showing on the report is a model 4 years older without air-suspension (they used a wrong spec to align my car). The steering wheel is still tilting to the left as I drive straight. Without hesitation, Arbutus kaltire today, without appointment, did an re-alignment for me without cost and provided me with an official print out of the before after report, and it shows the front toe was off by a total of 0.45 degree, front left was 0 degree when it should've been 0.10 to 0.25 and right was 0.75 when it was suppose to be 0.10 to 0.25, no wonder my steering is off. I paid $150 + tax for this alignment, I hope kaltire can find consistency in service. It wasted by time to go to another location just to find out everything was done wrong at the Burnaby location.

Went one hour before time to close with a flat tire, on Sunday and they said they could take the tire but I would have to come back on Monday, a service that only takes 5 minutes to be fixed in another place.

Really nasty place. During my winter tire change in the spring of 2024 the store tried to con me into doing a brake change. They said my brakes were at the wear limit and I would need to change both front and rear brakes within the next week.
The store quoted a price well above $1k and I was astonished-didn’t have that kind of money at hand.
So I found the service manual for my car and the necessary tools and inspected the brakes myself as per the manual. I had more than half the life remaining for both front and rear brakes. Kaltire tried to rob me. I felt sick to my stomach- why would a reputed store try to con consumers! I’m glad I dodged a bullet but would never set foot in a Kaltire ever again.

Great service with knowledgeable staff. Chris is awesome. We had the bad luck of finding a nail in the back tire of our Tesla the day we were scheduled to go down to Portland for a meeting. Chris was professional knowledgeable and very friendly. Saved our day. We have been clients for a long time as well our company has all our cars with Kal, and people like Chris keep us want to do business with Kal tire

Amazing service. We have been having a slow leak. They tested not only the offending tire, but also the other 3, all in under a hour. No attempts to sell us on anything we don’t need. We will be back

On my way to a funeral service for a family member, my car computer indicated tire pressure problems. I continued to Kal tire on Grimmer street in Burnaby about mid day. The manager, Raed Sabbah was honest and informed me if there was significant repair needed he could not do it that day as they were fully booked. He then then said let me check the pressures and did so. He discovered the tires had been set by the dealer well under the stated recommendations of the manufacturer, provided pressure corrections and off I went to the funeral service. He made my day for sure, and no issues since. With a great friendly smile he said " no charge". I would definitely have them in mind for any future work. One doesn't see this kind of service often.

This location is the best. I was helped by Phil. Phil was extremely courteous, helpful and knowledgeable about the services offered at Kal Tire. He deserves a raise.
I was quoted about 60-90 mins, and my service was completed in 45. I was blown away by the speedy service without any sacrifice in quality.

TLDR: Kal Tire is fine for buying tires, but if they want to do mechanical service, bring your car to a real mechanic.
I bought a set of Nokian all-weather hybrid tires in late 2013 and had great service at this location. I did the routine balancing through them and other locations (sometimes with mixed impressions), but otherwise everything seemed fine. I replaced my tires with a new set of Nokians in early 2022 (I don't drive much and they weren't worn, but it was time to replace them anyway), so I called and made an appointment with the same Kal Tire by Metrotown. The attendant on the phone (in a central sales office) was very polite and thorough. She gave me a quote that was reasonable (and noted the cost of each item and service), and she noted that I they would check to see if my wheels needed to be aligned. I noted to her that I had already brought my car to the mechanic (whom I had seen regularly for over 10 years) and a front axle joint had been replaced and everything was thoroughly checked afterwards. But since I didn't need to confirm an alignment at that time, I booked the appointment.
The attendant at the Metrotown Kal Tire was friendly, and he confirmed the work to be done (basically buying and installing new tires and pressure monitors, and checking to see if I need an alignment). The price was a few dollars less than the quote by phone. I was happy with that, and I left my car with them for the day. I received a call from him a few hours later that they found problems, and the front end needed work (especially the bearings on the left side) before they could assess for an alignment. They wanted to do this work, and it would cost at least $400. I told him that I had already had the car serviced, but that I would bring the car back to my mechanic. I asked if the new tires were on the car, and he said yes. So, I said I would pick up the car. He tried to talk me into the "front end service", and I remained firm that I would pick up the car.
When I returned, the attendant I had seen in the morning was now dramatically curt and grim. It was like a night-and-day change in attitude. No eye contact and definitely no smile and small talk like in the morning. He didn't go through my bill with me, didn't explain the typical return visit to "re-torque" my tires (because I had bought before from Kal Tire and had them rotate my tires regularly, I knew this was their routine process.) He basically handed me my bill and asked me to pay. He gave me my keys and left me on my own. No "thank you", no "goodbye."
I brought my car to my mechanic within a week, and he spent a good half-hour going through everything. He then showed me and talked me through all the steps he took, and he couldn't find anything wrong with the car. He also asked another mechanic to double check. They both said there was nothing wrong, and that the car didn't need an alignment. They didn't charge me for their time.
In the two years since I had my recent set of tires, there have been no mechanical issues with the car, despite routine service and check-ups. I have noticed that one tire on the rear will periodically lose pressure suddenly (about 9 psi), which happened in intervals of a few months and is now becoming more frequent. All the other tires hold their pressure well. I considered calling Kal Tire today to book an appointment to have them check, but now have my doubts given my experience with them and after researching other reviews this morning on Google and Reddit.

Good spot for your tire needs. More expensive than competitors but good service and short wait times.

I've dealt with Kal Tire for 35 years and always been served professionally and helped out with my emergency repairs even having their staff stay passed closing to fix my tire. Not at this store. My free flat repair was offered to my in 2 days time..............sorry we don't have any appointments open? As a faithful customer this store does not represent the values that I have seen at the other locations I deal with. Extremely dissapointed, avoid dealing here!
