After getting a flat tire while driving, I initially went to Canadian Tire across the street for assistance and was told they were too busy and could not help me without an appointment. I walked across the street to Arvid's Automative and was warmly greeted by staff, and within minutes, the staff had put the spare tire on my car so I could drive. They then helped me locate a new tire for me to purchase. The bonus, they did not charge me at all for the tire change. If you need any sort of tire service in Abbotsford, come here! The staff were so friendly and helped to turn a very annoying and frustrating experience (flat tire) into a minor inconvenience. I cannot thank them enough!!

Overpriced, dodgy practice, lack of integrity.
Regardless of what others might have experienced with their service here, what these guys did to me was not acceptable.
Took in my car after being abroad and was told that my battery needed to be replaced. (Mistake on my part for not doing my research), but I accepted the advice to get the battery replaced since my car broke down and I didn't want to risk it happening again. They quoted the whole replacement to be around $350, but instead nearly cost me $500. Although I wasn't ok with the price, I moved on.
However, the next day my car stalls again. I take it back to the shop, explained what happened, and they proceed to do the diagnostics test. The only reason I took my car back here was that they had installed the battery so I believed they would do something to figure it out since it clearly wasn't the battery. But this is where the problem begins.
I took my car in around 8:30am, then they called at 10am to ask questions regarding the car. I later asked how much I was being charged for this and they said $149 for the base rate. Now, this is where I would have liked some transparency in the first place. Before they took the car in for the diagnostics they should have quoted me on the work that would take place, along with informing me that I would be charged hourly and asking if it's ok to continue inspecting AFTER the first hour. So they call me the second time at 3:35PM to ask me MORE questions as they still haven't found the issue. Then the next time I call them at 4:45PM, because it was near their closing time and I haven't heard back from them with any issue. They tell me they need the next morning to still found out what the problem is, and finally this is when they inform me of the hourly charge. This is when I tell them to stop working on the car.
The next morning I ask for them to provide a service report of what they worked on. They were updating it as we were talking. Such dodgy practice. How would I know they weren't just lying to me about the "work" they were doing and charging me for all the hours? Anyone can just write bs and say that they've done something. They don't even have timestamps of when and what was done nor do they have a CLEAR outline of what problems they found. Only told me that they were getting "bunch of different codes". I said what they were doing isn't honest and they need to be upfront, so the service manager said that they'd reduce the cost down to 2hrs of service for $384. Still not right to charge me that amount without finding anything and continuing work without informing client. I paid and left.
But, I was still upset with having to pay almost $400 for nothing after having installed a battery from them. I head back to the shop later and try to get a refund back as I felt it wasn't right to be charged that. There were other people in the shop so this might've helped but eventually the manager paid back a portion ($166) of the bill.
My problem was that were weren't upfront and carried out their work in a deceitful way.
If you aren't mechanically knowledgeable or looking for a decent priced mechanic, please go somewhere else.

They got me and my old truck in last minute for an emergency repair on our trip down here, they were fantastic and so wonderful to deal with, 10/10 will recommend, Jim and Tiffany are awesome to deal with!

I had a full diagnostic done on my Honda Civic at Arvid's Automotive when the engine wouldn't start reliably, and was charged $200 (more than some other shops would charge, for ex. $120 at Mr. Lube Abbotsford, last I recall some months ago, 2023-24).
Arvid's Automotive then quoted $590 for a simple Honda Civic battery replacement. A quick Google search, and one simple phone call to Mr. Lube Abbotsford who quoted $250 with several year warranty for battery replacement, told me all I needed.
Trying to charge more than double the price is your right as a business. And it's also my right as a customer to offer my review: 1 star, for attempting to scam me (ie. charge over double what other shops charge).
You definitely earned this 1 star. I rarely write reviews!
Eventually the truth comes out about these places (hello reviews), when will these scamming auto shops learn that Google exists?

Had a emergency repair to my wheel bearings in the front axel, arvids was more than capable to fix it up in such a timely manner on such short notice that it was shocking, I was able to make my trip on the weekend because of this. The customer service is excellent and the quality of workmanship reigns supreme at this shop, the shop is very well kept and the staff super friendly and helpful. I will be recommending this shop to anyone looking for mechanical work done at a fair price done right and fast.

Call him for a Quick check on my 1992 Chevy Van. Told me to come to his shop. He told me he was coming in few minutes when I arrived but never came.I've been waiting for an hour and then when I came back to check if he didn't forgot about me, he just send me away and not nicely, he really didn't care. Just loosed my precious Time, I'm in a super rush today.

This place is incredible. Had to get my serpentine belt back on so I could get out of the Canadian tire parking lot and he dropped what he was doing to help me. Can't recommend them enough! Go here!

We were provided an excellent service. The staff were very friendly and helpful explaining the problem with options. The cost was reasonable. I would defiantly use their service again.
