Walmart Building Hundreds of New Stores Nationwide

Walmart is growing the number of its physical stores across America. The retail giant announced plans to open 150 new U.S. stores over the next five years while remodeling 650 current locations.

This ambitious plan shows Walmart is still confident in real stores, even with online shopping booming. The chain currently operates over 10,000 stores nationwide.

Walmart will begin its growth by making larger, revamped stores in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia this spring. Twelve more new stores across the country will pop up in 2024. One smaller store will also be converted into a Supercenter.

In total, Walmart is pumping astonishing $9 billion into new construction and makeovers over the next two years. The remodeled stores will have Walmart's "Store of the Future" look with new tech, displays, and layouts to improve your shopping trip.

“These efforts represent millions of dollars in capital investment that benefit local communities,” said Walmart U.S President and CEO John Furner. He added that this will help Walmart “reach and serve more customers.”

Walmart still believes brick-and-mortar stores matter, even as it grows online fast. Physical stores support their strategy to blend online and in-store shopping.
