Kroger Pouring $112 Million Into Central Ohio, Including Two New Stores
Kroger is spending $112 million to build two new stores and renovate 15 existing locations across central and northwest Ohio. The company calls it a "record-breaking" commitment to the region.
The two new Kroger Marketplace stores will rise in Canal Winchester and Delaware, Ohio, each costing roughly $30 million to build. Kroger broke ground on the Canal Winchester location on March 19 at the southeast corner of Diley Road and Greengate Boulevard. The 118,000-square-foot store is expected to open in late fall 2026 and will create around 250 jobs.
The Delaware store, under construction since September at 1650 Sunbury Rd., is scheduled to open in early fall. At 123,000 square feet, it represents a $33 million investment in one of Ohio's fastest-growing counties and will bring more than 220 jobs. Shoppers can expect enhanced produce, deli, meat and seafood sections, a sushi counter, a specialty cheese shop, an expanded apparel area and an on-site fuel center.

"These investments underscore Kroger's confidence in the long-term growth of our communities and our ongoing commitment to meet customers where they live, work and shop," said Jon Young, president of Kroger's Columbus Division. "By bringing new Kroger Marketplace locations and enhanced shopping experiences to our cities ranging from central Ohio to Toledo, we're focused on creating convenient, modern stores that deliver fresh, affordable groceries for local families."
Another $24 million will go toward renovating stores in communities including Dublin, Gahanna, New Albany, Reynoldsburg, Worthington, Lancaster and Toledo, among others. Upgrades will vary by location but may include new product cases, improved restrooms and updated decor.

Kroger isn't limiting its building spree to Ohio. The company has Marketplace stores underway in Indiana, West Virginia and North Texas, where it's investing about $160 million across multiple Dallas-Fort Worth locations. The Columbus Division alone has spent more than $450 million over the past five years improving its 114 stores across Ohio, Michigan and West Virginia.
