I went to Brown James E Auto Sales and Service, I had bought a used car from an individual and I needed to get the car inspected to get a tag..I am new to the state . So I went here, after the inspection.... I was told my car failed because it was suppose to have 3 catalytic converters but only had 2. They told me they would have to cut the pipe and it would cost 750 to add the 3rd... so I came home to my computer and discovered that my car only has 2, never has had 3, nor does any car of that model... well I assumed they had made an error. So I called another inspection station.... and guess what, in Brunswick county cars no longer need emission test, as on 9-28-2018!!!!! I googled this and that is a fact..... Ok so if this happened yesterday, perhaps I could understand this ignorance, but this new law is close to 2 years old.... How does a trained mechanic, who routinely does inspections, not know the most basic guidelines... when me, a photographer found every answer I needed online in 5 minutes.. he had to know... it's hard to imagine this wasn't an attempt to sell me a catalytic converter, when I told them that was out of the question, they gave me a name of someone who would put on a "universal converter" (that was not needed, nor was it legally required to have a emmission inspection to begin with).... doesn't bode well for Brown James Auto Sales and Service. I'm guessing the referral must have been a relative ..... damn.

My car was broken in Holden Beach and we couldn't find anyone to service it. AAA helped me find these guys and they were so nice on the phone, were able to take the car right away, and were excellent with communication. Car is running well and thank you to CJ and the team at James Brown Auto.

Great service and the price is fair. Honest and friendly. They have worked on my Volvo for several years and have fixed everything needed and nothing more.
