March 2024 by Sarah Osborn
We stayed at the Swaha cabins in March of 2024 over spring break. We actually tried to cancel our reservation 24 hours prior because of inclement weather. They would not allow us to reschedule to a later date. They also do not offer a partial nor full refund, so keep this in mind. That was disappointing as other places in the area did allow us to reschedule our reservation for a later date (we had planned to spend a night in Washington, AR as well) .The marina is nice and there are some options for restaurants as well as boat rentals. We did rent a boat for 2 hours- which cost quite a bit after fuel and tax. $75 an hour for a full size pontoon boat, but then another $65 in fuel +taxes. If you have a chance to order a pizza at the marina , do it. It was really good! We got one to go while boating. They also have a little gift shop for necessities / live bait.We stayed in a 2 bedroom "cottage" cabin. They do offer a variety of accommodations such as tree houses, boat houses , and condos. It appeared cleaned and mostly well kept. The kitchen is not fully equipped as stated online. Be prepared to bring paper towels and spices such as salt, pepper, and sugar. There is lack of storage for food with no empty cabinets except one small cabinet above where the broom is kept. Also, they lack hooks for hanging coats/towels as well as lack dressers in the bedrooms. Only 1 nightstand in each room (annoying for 2 adults as i knocked my items over during a late night bathroom run that were on the floor) The beds were actually quite comfortable, but it would be nice if the couch was a pull out couch (we have 3 children and 1 had to sleep on the couch). Heating and AC worked well and each room has ceiling fans. Wifi is available at no additional cost. 1 TV was in one of bedrooms but not the other, which is odd as both bedrooms have the same layout (both have attached bathrooms with showers)..The view from the huge wrap around porch was nice. We were able to see the marina /lake from our cabin. The cabins are pretty close to each other so there isn't a ton of privacy but we also were the only ones in the cabins that weekend so not a big deal but may be a deal breaker if you want more privacy. There was no fireplace in the cabins. There was a make shift fire pit just off the balcony of our cabin. Also, there are charcoal grills in front of each cabin, although we did not use them due to the rain. I wish I could speak more in regards to other activities but our time was limited here due to rain. We plan to maybe come back in the summer months. The lake was really nice and we loved all the beautiful scenery. If you have trouble finding the office- it's located at the marina. The drop box for keys is in the parking lot.The little downtown square is really cute and has some tourist type shops. Its about a 15 mim drive from the cabins. The coffee shop/restaurant called the feed bin was really good. Excellent service that was fast and food was really good. We also enjoyed an iced coffee there, which was also really good (and I'm pretty particular about my coffee!). The variety store serves ice cream, coffee and goods. We did explore Crator diamond State park and did some digging for diamonds. This was definitely not worth it for us as we've been to other parts of Arkansas and found way more jewels and paid far less ($52 for a family of 5), it had rained the day before and was quite muddy as well as packed full of people. It's very picked over! If you want to rent tools, you can but the lines are long, and you have to stand in a line to return it if you want your deposit back. If you do go, be sure to pack buckets, shovels, chairs, food/cooler, wagon or other carrier for your items, mud boots, extra shoes/socks and clothes you don't care about. It's fun for the Littles though. My kids were over it within an hour. Go early as the line to get it was long by the time we left at 1pm.All in all it was a nice place to stay, especially if you have kiddos who love to explore. We would consider returning du

We were looking for an interesting place to stay while visiting Murfreesboro, and a local shopkeeper recommended Swaha lodging. We chose one of the tree house accommodations and found it to be cozy and quiet, tucked into the mountainside with a babbling stream just 50 yards off the sizeable porch. The staff was friendly, but because we called last minute and the office was about to close, the directions on where and how key pickup worked was not clearly communicated. We were only told there was a drop box, and a key would be waiting. We were not familiar with the marina or the location of the office, and even though we stopped in the right parking lot, the sun had already set, and we completely missed the "dropbox" location. We ended up driving up to the rental [hoping for a lock box] before calling the after-hours number to get information. This was a heavily forested area with winding roads and LOTS of deer. The after-hours staff was efficient and offered to bring the keys to us, but we were already on our way back down the mountain to the marina. The office was easy to spot once we had been giving more context of its and the drop box location. We found the small cabin to be quite roomy and comfortable. The surroundings were beautiful and serene. We would absolutely stay here again.

We stayed in the Tree House and the Trout House. Both cabins were very nice. When we arrived the cabins were very clean and in great condition. They had fresh clean linens and they were stocked with all the essentials you need. The pictures and descriptions on the internet was exactly what we got! The locations of each cabin were wonderful. The Tree House location was in the woods and it was so peaceful and we saw lots of deer. The Trout House back porch had a lovely view of the river and the deck was equipped with chairs, hammocks and a nice grill. Both cabins had fire pits outside where you can enjoy a nice fire at night. The owners of the cabins were very nice and hospitable. They went above and beyond to make sure we had an enjoyable stay. Down at the Swaha Marina you will find the largest and best Shaved Ice and pizza. I would definitely book with the Swaha Lodge again!

We stopped at the Marina for use of the restroom and snacks. Such friendly staff and they really know the area! Got lots of useful information about the roads, campgrounds and fishing . Plan on returning for a cabin in the future.

This is a nice place to stay if you like the outdoors. The lake is a nice size, with woods all around. The cabin was clean, with a walk out deck and full kitchen. The staff is friendly, everything was great.

My husband and I absolutely loved this place! We only stayed in their cabins for two nights, however, we rented boats from the marina 4 days in a row! The people working in the office were extremely friendly and very helpful. We felt like family by the time we left. The cabins were perfectly comfortable and the boats were top of line. Of the other marinas we visited, this one was definitely the nicest and had the best hospitality! 10/10 recommend! We’d love to come back!

I love Swaha and Lake Greeson. We have come here multiple times over the last 12 years. The family that manages the place are amazing, sweet, and just the kind of folks you wish you got to be around more often. They have constantly been upgrading and adding more cabins. The boat we rented this last trip seemed brand new and awesome! The lake itself is a gem. 160ft deep, crystal clear, and gorgeous. My family loved going to the Little Missouri River behind the dam and swimming as well. This is one of those places that every time I visit I wish I could live there.
