A1 Freeman in Jacksonville is horrible. DO NOT trust them with your move. Military, request a new mover. 20 years in the AF, nine moves, and this was an absolute nightmare. I understand things get scratched and dinged, not a big deal as I had never filed a claim in my past moves. However, my move with A1 Freeman this past Jan/Mar 2023 has resulted in them paying me more than $10,500 due to damage, neglect, and theft. Unfortunately, this doesn’t cover the actual cost of damage they caused. They moved my household goods into storage for 2 months and then delivered them to me in Texas. They were responsible for the packing, move to their storage facility, and then the move to Texas.
To begin with the packing, the 4-5 people they sent had very little experience packing/moving. Dishes were not wrapped separately, they put 3+ plates together before wrapping. Put almost all glassware in one large box weighing 60+ lbs. This of course caused numerous plates and dishes to break. They packed cast iron pans with expensive marble lamps with no protection in the boxes. Items were shoved into boxes with no regard to folding, protection, or care. They packed 3-5 pictures/paintings per box with no paper in-between causing frames to rub together and become scratched and gouged. Other pictures were put on the bottom of boxes before placing items on top causing glass to be shattered.
EVERY piece of furniture was dinged and scratched. Every corner of end tables and coffee tables were dented and ruined. Our couch showed up with black marks all over it due to improper protection. During loading in the truck, protection was not adequate on any piece of furniture. Almost all of our furniture had rub marks from transportation. Wooden legs were ripped off of china cabinets, desks, and the dining room table. Six of eight dining room chairs were damaged from rubbing/scratches and just miss-handling. Fishing poles were broken into three pieces. A neon sign wasn’t protected so it was delivered shattered. Expensive concrete urn planters were dropped and delivered in multiple pieces, ruined. Bed frames had deep gouges. Items packed in boxes were not wrapped or protected. Miter saw was mis-handled and completely ruined. Washer and dryer were delivered with multiple large dents, corners dented in, and scratches all over them. There was so much more that was damaged from improper packing to even mention (lamps, rugs, clothing...everything) The damage was so bad that when THEIR driver picked our goods up for final delivery from their storage facility, he called and told me we were not going to be happy and he had never seen so much damage! Then the final icing on the cake was unpacking my golf clubs to find that my driver and 3-wood were stolen.
I unfortunately needed to wait until my claim was paid before writing this review. Because all damage was verified, documented, and repair costs estimated by their sub-contractor, there was not much pushback with the claim. Even though it does not cover the replacement value of the items, $10,500 worth of damage is not insubstantial. Beware…if you value your property, do not use A1 Freeman, Jacksonville.

Rude management when they told me it was my problem they failed to make the timeline that was provided to me.

The ladies did a great job packing my house goods, and the driver did an excellent job picking up the boxes and delivering them to me at a time that worked for me

Movers did an ok job. They were time efficient. But their stacking skills were questionable.

I normally go on people word. After researching over 10 moving companies I decided to go with A1 Freeman because of the Sales person professionalism and word. My furniture was picked up on 4/29 with a PROMISE delivery date of 5/4-5/6. That is giving this company a FULL week to deliver my furniture. Well we are still sitting her on 5/11 with NO delivery. Sleeping on air mattresses, no dishes, no cooking items. NOTHING. I was told that SOME (MOST) of my things should arrive tomorrow, but they have NO IDEA when I will get the rest of the items (one which is a mattress). The dispatcher has not been helpful and disrespectful. She acts like it is NOTHING she can do and blame it on Van Lines. When I asked her to escalated the issue she told me to call customer service. So basically speak to someone who I NEVER worked with. A1 Freeman may quote you a lower price, but I promise you that if I could do this all over again I would go with the Mom and Pop shop that TOLD me that this would happen. If I did I would be sleeping in my bed and actually have my items. Oh and they already been paid as if they have delivered ALL of my items. As I am writing this I STILL haven't heard from the trucker that is supposed to be here tomorrow so honestly I am not sure if MOST of my items will even arrive tomorrow.

Great service personnel Job, Rob, Rodney, Phillip, Christian were extremely professional. Their company doesn't provide them with basic safety equipment or tools though. They made my move very smooth and prevented a huge stress load while I moved.

So my temp service sent me to a-1 freeman for today. I’ve been there before and had problems because the staff was horrible/disrespectful + the owner “richard”Likes to carry a gun while he’s there scaring staff members ! But today i went to my temp service and they sent me there. So b4 they sent me there i asked what time would i be getting off they told me 3:30. I get there & start asking staff what time do they usually get off & they told me 4 or 5 and I couldn’t stay that long due to my ride having to go to work. So i went to inform richard that I couldn’t stay until then so in the rudest way he could he told me to gone and clock out!

By far the worst moving/packing company I've ever had in my 20 years of military moves. piss poor packing, slow, improper packed boxes, and they even fail to pack items due to laziness. The company sent out a teenager that was the owners daughter and she constantly made excuses, couldn't explain certain things, and failed to pack pantry items and creams. Also, they left 2 TVs unpacked, 2 glass wall arts, and a bedroom mirror still connected and unpacked. Dont use this company unless you want you belongings broken or improperly packed. Crap company I would give a zero if I could.
