If you are an Elvis fan, you don't need to miss out on this! The museum is set in the original Fort Chaffee barber shop that Elvis got his head shaved in. Sit in the chair he sat in, look at before and after pictures of his haircut, take pictures of the life-size cut out the king. Along with all the Elvis memorabilia there is also all sorts of military history to read and look at in there as well. It's a great place to visit if you are into Elvis, history or military.

Great, quick stop for a history or military buff and/or Elvis fan. Lots of memorabilia about Elvis when he had his military haircut and stay at Camp Chaffee when he joined the Army. Friendly volunteer was there to share lots of info. Another room full of Chaffee and area history. Free admission . Walk across the parking lot to check out the Museum of Chaffee History too.

Interesting place. I was a little disappointed though that the museum was not open when we stopped but it was a holiday weekend so it makes sense why it was closed.

SO GREAT. Honestly, the best part was speaking with Lance, a volunteer there. He was so great to speak with and gave us amazing service! There are actually 2 museums and theyre both amazing and worth checking out. We learned so much. (This is also a great stop for Elvis fans.) Honestly, this should be made into a national historic site or something.

I have not personally been there in many moons! I just happen to be reminiscing old days with my Grandfather. I remember in the mid to late 80s. I got to help my Grandfather who was re-roofing all the barrics in Fort Chaffee. I got to get a hair cut here. The good old days. I remember them firing a cannon sometimes to for some ceremony or something. Sorry to be so vague. I might have been 9-10 yrs old.

If your heart is set on coming here to visit, call before you come. I drove 6 hours out of my way to visit this specific museum. I am also a Barber and my shop is decorated decorated with all Elvis. So this was extra sentimental to me. I planned my vacation around this visit. I was so sad to arrive an hour before closing and no one was around. I saw a small sign in the window.

Such a neat little area. The Barbershop, Military History Museum, and barracks are all right by each other. Everything is well maintained. The volunteers are helpful and very nice. I'm so glad I went, everything is definitely worth going to.

I enjoyed seeing the barbershop with the Elvis connection. So glad it has been saved. My husband and son really enjoyed learning the history of Ft. Chaffee. The museum worker/volunteer was so friendly and really knew all about the fort and Elvis. She made our experience outstanding.

On a hot day, this was a great place to go to get in out of the heat and gain some Elvis Presley history! Very cool museum! If you're in Ft. Smith, it's definitely worth going to!

Located within the grounds of Fort Chaffee Joint Maneuver Training Center, Fort Smith, AR, it previously was an active barbershop. It's also the barbershop where Elvis received his military haircut! The museum is stuffed full of military memorabilia. You can also sit and watch military and wartime movies. The staff is so friendly and accommodating.
