I moved here from out of town and needed a refill on my dogs medicine. Called this vet and told them and they told me I’d need to bring her for a check up to get it. Then they proceed to charge me 500$ worth of tests to get a 40$ medication. Absolute scam. Any other vet is better than this one.

We just switched vets due to some uncomfortable interactions for our pets at another local vet. Out West was wonderful with our Mia who is very scared of others but they made her feel comfortable spending time in the room letting her warm up to them before proceeding with the visit! At first I was unsure of them taking her out of the room but looking at it now I think it’s best for her because she is protective of us around strangers! Very friendly staff and comfortable setting for all involved!

Out West was so so great to our puppy who decided he wanted to eat his toy as a snack and needed to have it surgically removed. They had great communication with me the whole time, explaining what we were to expect from when we walked in the door to our aftercare instructions. They also were so sweet with him and loved on him so much while he was there. It was just coincidence that we went to them for his surgery and I’m so thankful we did! Definitely recommend Out West!!

Went there because my 2 month old kitten was having bad diarrhea constantly and was not gaining weight. They did a couple tests on her and concluded that she had a bacterial infection, and sent us home with 3 medications. These meds were administered to their instruction, and when she had finished her medication, nothing had changed with her condition. The nurse who had helped us (not the doctor who administered the tests) was very friendly, however the diagnoses was botched and we were charged hundreds of dollars in medicine that were nothing but an unnecessary hassle. I've had good interactions with this clinic years ago, however something must have changed.

Horrible
We took our dog in. The vet tech was great. The vet did not even look at our dog before suggesting 750 dollars in testing. We said, no, start with bloodwork. Which they did and found the problem.
We did like our vet tech which does earn the minimum of one star available.
The 1000 dollars worth of medicine prescribed and bought was for parasites which was never even mentioned. Aside from all of that, she had to spend the night. When we picked her up she peed forever like she hadn’t been out that day. And to add one more item. No one from the clinic ever called to check on her after she got home. She died a week later under another vets care who I will highly recommend.

Called on the phone just looking for simple advice RIGHT before they close. They were super helpful knowledgeable, and gave me good info, I’ve never been a customer, but they didn’t give me the runaround like a lot of vets when you call. Just great service even though I was so last minute, that shows a lot of good about a place.

They kept us informed about what we were waiting for. When an emergency was brought in, they came and told us; not just leaving us waiting, not knowing what was going on...

Outstanding team of care providers! When I needed a vet hospital for an emergency taking place on Memorial Day, they were open and quickly got us in. Dr. Karen Pallome quickly assessed the needs of a dog we rescued and performed a life saving surgery. Bailey’s care was top notch. This clinic is filled with staff members who are compassionate and provide updates on the status of your furry companions. Due to the quick assessment of Bailey’s needs, she has a second chance in life. Thank you to Brooke who checked her in and acted quickly to get her care initiated. I’m very pleased with every aspect of Bailey’s care. When compared with other clinic prices, Out West is very fair. You won’t regret taking your beloved pet to this wonderful team!

Early 7 am, We brought a cat that had been attacked, its leg was messed up, and back had a few lacerations, they said it needed its leg urgently amputated or that it would pass away, and lacerations on her back stitched up, they charged us 1,000$ just coming in the door, we waited all day never heard a word, finally called around closing time for them to tell us, “the Dr. had an emergency to attend, we will get to her tmrw” as if the kitten needing surgery wasn’t urgent, like we were told just earlier that day, they do the surgery the next day, still terrible communication, never let us know when they were done, didn’t call to tell us to pick it up, so we call them, pick up the kitten, to the lacerations on its back not stitched up and being far worse than what they were before, on the opposite leg of the amputated, so the kitten is literally immobile, to top it all off, every receptionist, which is all you will speak to, has the most god awful attitude. Would not ever choose this place again, even in an emergency, was a shame it was the only place open this time. What we get for trying to save an animals life, thanks outwest!

Not enough good words to say about how we were treated today during the loss of our precious dog. They were loving, kind, and empathetic. The. Very. Best.

Absolutely horrendous.
In March of 2023, I took my dog, Chester, to get his yearly round of vaccinations etc. He tested positive for heartworms much to my surprise. My dogs are never off of preventative.
A week later, I took Chester into Out West Veterinary and Urgent Care in Conway, Arkansas to begin heartworm treatment. The vaccine clinic that I take my dog to did not do heartworm treatment. Chester was tested prior to treatment at Out West and got a negative heartworm test. I was so relieved and believed at the time that the first had been a false positive according to everything I had been told. I left that day happy.
Fast forward to December 2023, and I bring Chester in to Out West for a checkup on something unrelated. They do some blood work on him and come back in the room to tell me that he is heartworm positive. I told the veterinary assistant what had been going on and that somebody there needed to tell me whether my dog was positive or not. They did another in house test and x-rayed his chest. The second test was negative and they saw nothing in the x-ray. So I left again believing Chester did not need to be on any sort of treatment. Mind you, he has been on heartworm preventative this entire time (Ivermectin).
March 2024 rolls around, same time every year that I bring my pets in for yearly vaccines. I opted to bring Chester back to Out West for his vaccines. I told them up front what had been going on and that if he had a positive heartworm test I would be pretty angry and that a decision needed to be made. He was positive.
That day Chester was started on Doxycycline. The dosage was 800mg a day, which I thought was kind of high. I didn't think much about that until I came home one day and Chester just wasn't acting right. Not finishing his food and seemed generally a little anxious. I called Out West explaining that 800 mg of Doxycycline seemed entirely too high to me for an 88 pound dog and that he had been acting strange. In a recorded phone call, they cut him down to half that dose (400mg). He took the 800mg dose for a week.
I feel that Out West in Conway has been grossly negligent in the care of Chester. Never once was a confirmatory test done where his blood was sent to an outside lab to make 100% positively sure that he was negative in this year time span, and I have been under the false impression that my dog is heartworm free.

Good, honest vet clinic! If you love your pet, this is your place. Not the cheapest, but the good ones never are.
