My family had used Dayer's for many years for repairs and small purchases. We have always been pleased with their service--until yesterday. My son, who is a recruit with our local police department, had been shopping for an engagement ring. He is on a limited budget and was determined not to go into debt for one. He shopped all the local stores and was unable to find what he wanted within his budget. He did find something online at a large retail store. He took pictures into Dayer to ask if he ordered the ring in the smallest size available, could it be sized down. The lady at the counter was cordial enough, but the jeweler working in the back (who I believe IS Dayer), said "or you could order something from us, heaven forbid." My son was shocked and mortified. He explained that he had shopped there several times with no luck finding anything in his price range. To treat a young man just starting out like this in a public venue as a business owner is reprehensible. Our family will not patronize this business again. His competitor, Fletcher Smith, was more than willing to help and was pleasant and respectful.
