12/5/23 the older lady with blonde hair that worked here this morning was so hateful and racist. We stopped here to buy cigarettes this morning and when she seen that the passport was not from this country she started speaking like my husband could not understand her. Saying " English, English, es no English " but in a way that would make fun of someone. My husband speaks English just fine. He told her that she could scan his passport, that's why all Valero's do well really any gas station he goes to . Shame on you for treating someone like the way you treated him. And I'm not talking about your policy, I'm talking about the way she was mocking him.

In the myriad of pit stops that dot the roadsides of our vast country, the Valero / Circle K in Benton, Arkansas offers a mixed bag. As a traveler, certain basics are expected: clean facilities, efficient service, and perhaps a nod to customer convenience. The station's exterior gives the initial promise of a reliable rest stop. However, upon entering, one is quickly met with an olfactory assault. The restrooms, to put it politely, leave much to be desired in terms of cleanliness and upkeep. A fundamental aspect of any service station, it's unfortunate that this basic amenity didn't live up to expectations.Adding to the slight inconvenience, the gas pump's failure to produce a receipt might seem minor, but for those on the go, especially business travelers, it's an oversight that can prove bothersome. However, in fairness, it's not all shadows and gloom. The store itself provides a reasonable selection of snacks and essentials, and the staff, when approached, were relatively courteous. In summation, the Valero / Circle K in Benton offers the basics, but with a couple of notable hitches. A lukewarm three stars, as there's room for improvement.

I got gas as I have many times at this location and upon returning to my vehicle my 3 year old daughter informed me she needed to use the restroom very badly. I pulled into a parking spot so as not to block the pump and ran her inside. When I got to the restroom, it was closed for cleaning. We waited several minutes but my daughter continued to do the “pee pee” dance so I went to the register to ask the gentleman working the front if the Hardee’s attached had a restroom. The young man was speaking with another customer so I couldn’t ask at the moment but I thought I saw the person cleaning leave the restroom. I went back to the restroom to see that they were still cleaning and had just come out to leave a bag of trash. I returned to the cashier and asked about the Hardee’s bathroom. He informed me that that’s the only restroom. I asked if he knew how much longer the women’s restroom would be closed because my daughter was about to have an accident. He recognized the urgency and immediately went to check with the person cleaning. I guess she did not realize we were standing outside the door and could hear because when he asked if she was nearly finished because there were people waiting her very rude response was “well they can wait!” He very calmly said “I know but there’s a little girl out here..” to which the woman responded “I haven’t even been in here that long, so they can wait!” I was very angry at this point because I had been very patient and polite and had no intentions of rushing her. I simply wanted to know if we should continue to wait or try another option. I could not believe how unapologeticly rude she was. We quickly left the store and used the emergency training potty for happen to have in my vehicle but don’t like to use unless absolutely necessary. Hopefully this worker will show a little more kindness in the future. She could have simply told us it would only be a few more minutes or something. Also, for anyone who cares to mention, yea, the men’s restroom was available but what woman wants to take her 3 year old daughter into a open multi stall men’s room to go potty? None. If it had been a single toilet bathroom with a locking door I would have gone that route.
