A great relationship Bank. Has all the resources I need: personal, commercial, merchant, investments, mortgage, etc.

Unfortunately, this is the most uncooperative bank I have delt with. I took over my parent's finances about a year and a half ago. Although the employees are nice, paperwork gets lost (the power of attorney!!), commitments on their part are not kept. They are not open on weekends, so I have to take off work to drive to Yuma to come into the branch, I live in San Diego. After my fourth in-branch visit, I was finally told that I can do business with the sister bank in El Cajon, CA. Why wasn't that detail shared early on in our business dealings? They understood how inconvenient it was for me to get into the branch. They keep insisting that my father come into the bank, he's in a long-term hospital situation and that is impossible. They want to email him things to read, he's blind. They have told me that although their legal department says the POA is legit and they have accepted it, the bank says all I can really do is make deposits. I can do that without a POA. I told them I would get an attorney and notary to go to my dad's hospital bed and give them whatever paperwork they need, that didn't seem to be acceptable either. I want to close these accounts and move to Chase but I'm told only my 88 year old, bed-ridden, blind father can do that by coming into the branch. The POA means nothing. It's interesting that all our other business accounts accept it.

We bank with US Bank there is not one in Yuma. We went into this bank for help we were told no because you do not have an account here. I said I’ll open a saving account right now, we were then told by a manager that was brought into the conversation we could not open an account there nor could we get cash even if US Bank talks to us. So they did not want my $500 deposit nor did they want to help in any way. We walked into Chase bank and within 10 minutes we walked out with our cash and two employees telling us let us know if there is anything else we can help you with. Guess who we will be banking with from now on?

I have been banking with National Bank of Arizona since 2001. Back then, the Foothills branch was located on Foothills Blvd. It was a small and comfortable place. I never had to show my driver's license because the employees knew me. There was a relationship. Then, that branch moved to its current location on 40th St. Yes, the parking is easier. But a modern and spacious bank does not mean better service (or worse, for that matter). The Foothills employees were transferred to the new 40th St. location. At a later point, they suddenly all disappeared. Most of those employees were older women. The line workers were replaced, totally, with young employees who seemed to be trainees or newbies. And, there were turnovers of managers and desk employees. Personally, I consider it impractical to staff a bank with newbies. I will tell you why... I had to tend to an expired CD. A young lady, and I had never seen her before, waited on me. I told her that my CD had expired and that I wanted to open a new CD at the higher interest rate which was available at that time. I had brought in my old certificate papers, and expected there would be new papers to sign. The young lady did some work in her computer, and told me she had taken care of it. I asked her if there were not any papers to sign. She said no, that it was all in the computer. I asked her if she was sure. She said yes. I commented that there was usually paperwork involved. She again said that everything was taken care of, at the new rate, and in the computer. When I got my next statement in the mail, my CD was listed at the old rate. Apparently, the CD had simply rolled over at the old rate. I felt so stupid, and so ashamed of my stupidity. But the young lady acted so confident of herself... There was nothing I could do, because I had no paperwork to prove the transaction which I thought had taken place. I decided to close that CD and I paid the penalty for early closure. It was a matter of self-respect. I maintained a checking account and a small money market account for convenience. That was not the only problem I encountered from NBA employees during that phase of its existence. I recently opened another CD with NBA. They seem to be understaffed, but the current group of employees is professional and likable. I was provided with proper paperwork. The employees were friendly and conversational, and seemed capable of forming relationships as well as conducting business. I like younger people (and older people, for that matter), and I wish them continued success in their chosen field. My rating of 5 stars is based on the past month only. My hope is to have a fresh start. Right now, NBA on 40th St. is in a good phase and I hope we have a future.
