When I told my brother I became a hospice volunteer, he said "Gee, that must be depressing." I informed him that it was just the opposite. You are reaching someone at the neediest and perhaps the loneliest time of their life, so you know you are doing good. You simply walk away happy.

Where to start! We are often guided to places in our lives without fully understanding at that time why. I was lead to Hospice of Yuma over 4 years ago to become a Volunteer. Little did I realize the impact of volunteering would have on me as I lived my own life. I have witnessed first hand what Hospice truly means. I have witnessed first hand the absolute kindness and caring that comes from this non-profit. I will never, ever forget the impact of being affiliated with Hospice of Yuma. I am grateful to have spent time with those who's journey was nearing an end. Even I have had dear friends contact me who's time was nearing to ask me how it worked with Hospice of Yuma. I told them that all they needed to do was make the call, Hospice of Yuma will take care of them and their needs. I learned that even I had a misunderstanding of what "Hospice" was. Hospice of Yuma helps you and your loved ones to "live" through those precious final days. Their patient care is phenomenal with much love and care.

My father was recently cared for by Hospice of Yuma. We would like to especially thank Christina, Angie and Karen for the care of both my father and my mother during this very difficult time. These three ladies went above and beyond what was necessary. We as a family are more than satisfied with the care that was given. Not only did we have great nurses we now have great friends. I would highly recommend this Hospice in anyone's time of need. These people treat you like family.

During a very scary night my brother could not breath and we all were panicking. We called Angie Hill and she came to the house immediately. She helped us turn him and cleared his throat so he could breathe. He fell asleep and passed peacefully that night. So thankful for Angie.

The thrift itself has a lot of great finds from Artwork to furniture and clothes, TVs, dish sets etc. The ladies that work or volunteer there SOME NOT ALL are not the nicest people. I guess one lady thinks because she's an old lady it's okay to be mean to you and can say mean and uncalled for things and then just walk away when someone is trying to talk to you. They follow you around while you're there looking around. Nice stuff but grumpy old ladies and a few nice ones.

I was interested in shopping here, so I went by. I had my 50 lb boxer on his leash, and asked at the door if we could shop. I was told yes, and went in. I had almost browsed my way to the back, when I was told that we had to leave because "dogs have to be carried". Huh? Why? "Store policy." Not a law, not an ordinance, not even that we bothered anyone. Just because he stands on his own legs. Well, we left. I don't like it, and I didn't buy any of the items I had been considering. Next time, we will damn well tell them, "That's fine, we got this!"
