“Before I went to hope my anxiety kept me from going anywhere I was pretty much a hermit. I was even afraid to go to the store on top of that I suffer from depression and PTSD. Hope has been a blessing for me. My life is more enjoyable, I have friends now I get out more. The staff has been unbelievably helpful they genuinely care about each and every one of us. I can't thank them enough for all they do. God Bless them all.”

“Great people, too bad super hero isn't a actual job title because that's what they are to all the dogs and cats they come across and the humans that adopt. No one is better at what they do then The Humane Society of Yuma!”

“I reached out to the Salvation Army for rental assistance during a difficult time. It was also in their transition into the new building. Lt Johnathan was a big help in making it happen. The food boxes have also helped during this difficult time. God Bless the Salvation Army for all the work they do for the Yuma Community.”

“Whether you're new to Yuma or a long term resident, you have to visit. You'll learn everything about the Desert Southwest. You can even find local businesses that have whatever you're looking for. This is a "must" visit place. You won't regret it. Stop by, and be the "Y" in Yuma. Post the picture with the hashtag #loveyuma just like Telemundo's own Laura Meza”

“Helping Hands is a volunteer organization that will help anyone (over age 60) in need regardless of income (you do not have to be poor). You must register with them first, and then you should expect to give them 2 or 3 days notice to send someone to help you. I used their services once -- I was ill, and I care for my elderly mother, and I was not able to do the food shopping. We were running out of some basic food items. They sent out a very nice lady who went to the supermarket for me. If you need help -- if you are actually running out of food -- do not wait until you are desperate. Anticipate your needs and call in advance. I gave them 5 stars because they helped me through a difficult time and I am very appreciative.”

“A block over on the corner just West of 4th Ave in Old Town area of Yuma, this thrift store offers a variety of services and merchandise. Prices are comparable to other thrift stores I've visited in this area--especially with the current economic inflation. Staff is friendly and helpful. The store is clean. During this visit, the store had walkers, lamps, furniture, dishes/glassware, books, DVDs, crafts, bicycles, clothing, and so much more. They offer discount days and promotions. I found some bargains and will return.”
