Xerocraft is a local treasure! I discovered XC in 2013 and was a member of its all-volunteer staff until 2020 when the pandemic drove me out of town for a while. XC is like a pot of gold with countless classes, tools, and some of the best people I've met. It's a membership organization that also is open to the public, free of charge, during a few different periods during the week. If you are looking for a place to build just about anything (or learn how) you must check out Xerocraft!

Repair Cafe is usually held here once a month. Great to be able to see if items can be repaired to keep them out of the landfill, as well as learning more how to repair.

First visit there was for the Arduino class - I learned so much! A lot of really interesting people - when I was leaving the class some people were building complicated robots that were zipping around. A creative and welcoming atmosphere, looking forward to spending more time there

Amazing makerspace with kind community and volunteers. They have pretty much any tools you could think of, and of great quality too. And the volunteers are incredible at walking you through a new tool with kindness and without judgement. They have open hours for non-members every Saturday from 12-4, but if I lived in Tucson I’d absolutely be a member. The money and time saved by not needing to buy a specialized tool is well worth it!

What a fantastic place for building stuff! My dad first learned about Xerocraft when he needed to rent a particular type of woodworking machinery, only to learn that he could come in to the shop and use it. They have a massive wood shop full of tools and machines, so whether you're an experienced woodworker who needs to use something special, or if you're new to building stuff, it's a great place to check out.The laser cutter is super cool! You can cut or etch a variety of materials, including wood and acrylic, using your own designs on the computer. They have a ton of 3d printers, so if you need to make a weird little part for something, minis for your D&D game, or anything else, they're happy to show you how to run the equipment and get you going. If you want to be prepared to rebuild after the zombie apocalypse, you can even learn how to weld! I have no idea when I would ever need to know how to do it, but I wanted to learn, so I attended a Thursday night class and got hands-on practice, and now I could build an epic Mad Max battle wagon if I felt like it!There's also WTF nights (womens, trans, femme) where folks get together for all sorts of neat projects. If you join their Facebook group, you can see what events are coming up.If you want to get started, your best bet is to send an email message so you can set up a meeting with a staffer/volunteer who can show you the ropes and get you set up to work safely. The hours can be a bit odd, but all the folks I've worked with have been very helpful, and they'll make sure to take care of you.

The space is very organized and as clean as they can keep it. The people are super friendly and immediately offered me a tour and made me feel right at home! I'm just passing through right now, but if I come to Tucson for an extended stay I'll definitely frequent this space! It is a fully fitted workshop with everything you need from glass blowing to welding, to jewelry making, it's amazing!

Great space in a vintage building by the railroad tracks. The repair cafe was a fantastic experience. Peter was able to troubleshoot a 1960s sewing machine and get it working. Awesome feeling to restore a quality machine instead of throwing it out...and replacing it with a new piece of junk.
