“So it was Memorial Day weekend and there was no better way to honor those who have fallen; those who sacrificed life and limb, those who had their souls shattered by the chaotic screams and undeterred bloodlust of hellbent enemies sent to destroy the very fabric of our identity, those who chose to leave behind any semblance of peace and humanity in order to defend God, country and family under the machinations of madness than to seek out some AMAZING deals that stores are offering right now. THEY sacrificed it all so that WE could continue to enjoy our way of life.
And the way of life in 2024 is being a greasy, fat, dopamine addicted, consumerist sociopath. Who am I to throw that all away? C’mon man. I didn’t feel like walking a hot car lot with some sigma male with armpit sweat telling me about the Memorial Day Jeep sale and how he’s willing to take 15 bucks off the listing price of a 2023 Grand Cherokee, so I decided to head over to the mall to enjoy some semi-functioning A/C.
I always like to take it all in. The sights and sounds. The echoes of screaming children, the open mouthed, lifeless eyes of middle aged men with horrible posture in plaid shorts holding a pink bag from Victoria’s Secret while their sweaty, fupa wife dips pretzel bites into a cheese cup as they both begrudgingly march ahead. The 200 yard stare of kiosk merchants that just gave up because hawking phone cases and vapes just isn’t doing it for them anymore. I used to go to the mall for unsolicitied capitalistic cat-calling but now even that is gone. I miss the old days where they would straight up stalk you for 10 minutes and grab your arm just so they could smear you with Calvin Klein One cologne and guilt trip you into a purchase. Now you have to pour ice water on them and do a Fortnite dance to even get them to notice you.
Anyway, I was looking for something materialistic to replace my personality with but then I sipped my boba tea too fast and the boba ball went down the wrong tube. I was dry heaving and sucking in air and thought I was about to die. I found myself on the ground sucking for air. If this is how I was going to go out, I had to make sure it wasn’t in front of a Hot Topic. If they were to find my body covered in vomit and boba balls, it was going to have to be somewhere more dignified. Thankfully H&M was right next door. There was a big sign that said 20% off Memorial Day sale, so I stomach crawled my way in as fast as possible.
An employee named Jayson welcomed me & asked if I need help getting up. “We could all use a little help sometimes, Jayson” I said as I reached up. Then he walked away. I guess H and M stands for heartless & machiavellian. A manager came over as I dusted myself off & said “Hi sir, I’m Thaddeus. I was told you had quite the entrance a moment ago. Is there any way we can assist you today?” I didn’t like his fancy tone, but I decided to play his little game anyway. “Well hello Thaddeus. Yeah I was finishing my Memorial Day Tik-Tok challenge. You know the one that honors the fallen by crawling on our stomachs in public areas for 300 feet to serve as an homage to the brave service members who made the ultimate sacrifice in battle. Do you know anything about that Thaddeus?” “No, sir, this is my first time hearing about it” “Well knowledge is power, Thaddeus. And power is everything. You ever serve in the military Thaddeus?” “No I have not sir”….
”Well I did a tour in Vietnam and Cambodia”. I felt bad for making it seem like I was a member of the armed services but I did technically take a visiting tour of Vietnam and Cambodia recently so it’s all semantics anyway. “With all due respect, you look a little young for that specific war, sir” “Are you questioning the size of my cajones, Thaddeus?” “I don’t know what you’re implying sir.” “I’ll tell you what, Thad. You give me a discount today and we’ll pretend this conversation never happened. Don’t blue falcon me on this” “Okay, how about 20% off?” “Perfec”
“I have never gone into this store, which is in Spectrum Shopping Center, only the one in El Con Mall. Staff were very helpful and the store is very clean. I will go back in the future.”
“I went looking for jeans and I was advised by an employee that unless it was a return from the website, all jeans are 'regular' length. Aka no tall or short jeans. The employee was kind enough to get a reader to check the jeans I was looking for to see if my size even existed in the store before I sorted through piles of hands. We found A pair! And I was excited and thankful I did not have to dig through shelves and shelves of jeans. Don't be afraid to find an employee!”
“There were some great sales and such cute stuff, easy to find everything. No salespeople bothered me while I shopped (which I love) and the girl who checked me out was friendly and quick.”
“Friendly staff, very cute clothes and great fashion jewelry.. it's all so inexpensive. Love going to Rainbow! The only problem is there aren't any fitting rooms. So if you buy something, all you'll get is store credit :/”
“Tucson mall has the best h&m in town!!! The associate Ily M ? is awesomely knowledgeable, pleasant and pretty ? I recommend this store highly ? because of her alone! Very friendly and helpful.”
“I have had two haircuts at this location. Each were amazing experiences. Walk-ins are great. I didn't know how to explain what I wanted but I had a haircut with Lorena and she knew exactly what I wanted. The bangs i wanted, she created them perfectly. Absolutely recommend.”
“This is absolutely the place to shop for affordable gently used clothes, shoes, toys, and baby gear! When it comes to selling, I’ve been very pleased with the amount I’ve been offered. To top it off, the customer service is top notch and they are all so sweet and helpful! Beyond thankful for this local boutique. Highly recommended!”
“I went to JCPENNEY today for a haircut and perm. I called ahead and made an appointment for a week ahead. They called me 2 days before as a reminder which at this stage in life is helpful. The hair stylist was efficient, and explained the process each step of the way. Explaining why she did it. My hair is thinning and becoming extremely fine, due to the medications I'm on. She recommended something slightly different than I had gone in for, due to my hair issues. I had an enjoyable experience. Delores has been in the business for quite awhile and is very knowledgeable about hair and fitness. I would recommend this salon to anyone.”
“Amazing selection of premium baby and toddler items! They carry premie to size 5 in a wide range of items! Montessori toys! Bamboo! Organic Cotton! Some of my absolute favorite baby items. A great place for any parent of a young child or to purchase gifts.”
“My wife and I have a young one as well as a two year old grandchild. Always get what we want at Carter's. Never disappointed here, the staff is always helpful and do a great job attending to one's needs.”
“Bought our baby some of the cutest clothes at a great price! They have wonderful sales and the employees are helpful. I have signed up to become a member and now have the app. Will be back soon, would recommend.”
“Went in to look for some summer clothes for an upcoming vacation. The salesperson, Grace was very kind and helpful. She went out of her way to help us look for what we wanted. Glad she was around. I would definitely go back because of her willingness to assist us.”
“My granddaughter likes jeans and I had taken her to the outlet store. Since the outlet store moved, I searched and found out they had a regular retail store closer to me so took her to this store. The store is neatly organized by size and style. I hadnt realized how many styles there actually are. For fit, you can get baggy, skinny, high rise, bell bottom, straight, etc. Fortunately my granddaughter knew what kind she wanted but then you have the color choices, mostly shades of blue but the person helping us showed us some online of new colors coming out and even found a pair in the back to show us. They have both mens and womens jeans as well as some tops. A few things were on sale (including fortunately a pair of jeans my granddaughter liked). They also offered to help us buy online any we didnt see online had have them sent for free. I wish prices were lower but they are a good quality and my granddaughter was really happy with what she got. They fit great and looked great on her. The staff were extremely helpful without being pushy. I was glad to have found the store.”
“Great location, right off the 10. They have a great selection of shops, easy parking, shade and food. It's a relaxing atmosphere where you can enjoy the afternoon browsing and sipping on Starbucks.”
“We needed some special fabric light pants for my wife for a big trip next month. We need blue and black and cold water wash and very light. Must travel well. This is a great source.”

“Good place to find clean used items for kids.
The maternity section is a nightmare. All the pants are stacked in big piles on the floor. How is a pregnant woman supposed to get on the floor and dig around through that? And no place to try on clothes and you can't return clothes, only have 7 days to get store credit. Big gamble.”
“Loved ELLA's customer service and gift recommendations! She's so awesome and also gift wrapped everything for me included in your purchase ! 100% support local businesses like STYLO!”
“I did a couple of online returns. I had no issues. Nohemi was helpful and friendly. It was fast and easy. I read previous reviews about the customer service. The customer service that I received today was great! Thank you, Nohemi!”
“They seem to have a very good selection, fairly priced, and had helpful staff, with several talking to us while we were here. Overall, I would definitely recommend going here for your clothes. Everything seemed fashionable too!”
