Plexiglass Cracked Perhaps Old Pieces want my money back. ACE Hardware Store at 8600 E Broadway, Tucson, AZ
Date of Visit:** April 12, 2024
My recent trip to ACE Hardware at 8600 E Broadway in Tucson was unfortunately less satisfactory than anticipated. I visited the store to purchase two square ice-clear plastic panels for a skylight frame, a product I had previously used without any complications.
**Product Quality:** The one panel, priced at $19.56 , seemed to have an issue was cut by Ace into two pieces. When I attempted to install them by slightly bowing them into the frame, both panels cracked. This was unexpected as my past experience indicated that the material had some flexibility. Suspecting that these might have been older, less durable stocks, I was quite disappointed with the quality of what should have been a reliable product.
**Customer Service:** After the product failure, I contacted the store to arrange for a return and spoke with Dan, one of the managers. The interaction was disheartening. Dan asked if I brought back the broken pieces. What the heck to see if I am lying about them cracking or they did crack to a useable state? During the process of crediting my return, Dan insisted on pointing out that the plexiglass was inherently brittle, a stance I found condescending especially after explaining that I had successfully used similar materials before without issue. This assertion felt dismissive, and Dan repeatedly implied they are bridle and can crake when cutting. Look I am mature person with construction background and not lacking knowledge about the product.
Contrastingly, I visited another ACE Hardware location at 7119 E Tanque Verde, where I met Bill. He was able to cut two new pieces for me, which installed perfectly without any cracking, reinforcing that the material could indeed be flexible and durable when handled correctly. Bill’s assistance was straightforward and respectful, without any unnecessary lectures on the product.
**Overall Experience:** My experience at the Broadway store was marred by product issues and customer service that seemed to challenge rather than support my concerns. While I appreciate the eventual refund, the interaction with Dan was frustrating and made me feel undervalued as a customer. I Won't Return!
**Conclusion:** If you're shopping for hardware supplies, and particularly for more delicate items like plexiglass, I’d recommend visiting the Tanque Verde location over the Broadway store. The difference in customer handling and product quality made a significant impact on my project and my satisfaction as a customer.

Josh was very helpful. Someone broke into/vandalized my car, leaving me with no light that shows your license plate at night, therefore risking a ticket when driving at night! We found a temporary solution until i can get it fixed, involving 2 bike lights and duct tape! Lol thanks you are appreciated!

Its the nicest Ace and the emoloyees are very helpful. They have accepted expired coupons for as long as I can remember. These coupons are the only way to get anything at a decent price there so it was nice just grabbing a coupon and going. The owners are not poor folks who are in need of revenue. This is pretty bad way to treat customers who have patronized the store for many years,me personaly for a decade.Hopefully when they see how unpopular this is,its changed.

I cannot stand any Ace. They are ALWAYS rude and suspicious.
Now this location in particular, I was argued with.
They messed up my keys (as Ace always does.. literally have to go back every time to have at least one fixed). The person in the key area refused to admit that he made the key wrong. I had to tell him over and over again that it does not fit and that it was made on the opposite side versus the others. I could tell he was getting heated and I was too.
Finally he gets his supervisor and the supervisor takes one look at it and goes, "Yep, it's done wrong," and walked away. The guy did remake the key, but not while shooting death glares. He was not kind or courteous, and he did not apologize for their mistake.
I'm going to Home Depot from now on, yeesh.. get it together guys.
