I have been trying for 3 days to schedule a stress test with this place and the so-called scheduling department is apparently manned solely by phones that tell you to leave a number. This call has never been returned and no other dept. in the entire place is allowed to make appointments. As a plan to ensure the maximum of free time for the staff it’s excellent; as a service to potential patients it’s practically criminal. Try somewhere else…anywhere else.

I went here 6 days ago SEEKING for help. I was in horrible pain telling them exactly where is hurt. They didn't care to look into deeply. Or define my situation. Or try to run test . Just thinking drawing my blood will answer it all. And giving me meds should fix it and sent me home saying everything is fine and it's all in my head and while I was there heard a couple of nurse out loud not even trying to be quit about it . Labeling me as a drug user and sent me on my way. 3 days after that visit my I decided to go to my own hospital and tried again Seeking for help. They took it into their own hands. Doing stuff . This hospital didn't even try or wanted to after informing them both how, when or what. At MY hospital they did a ultrasound to my stomach and found out my gallbladder needed to be REMOVED.So don't go to this hospital? Maybe.because after hearing this from my usual hospital.Scared me, thinking who else did this hospital turn away that was as serious as me.

Doctor was condescending and kept getting the facts mixed up some of the Staf is fairly nice but obviously overworked due to being understaffed. I'm 57 years old and this is the dirtiest hospital that I've ever seen

They sent my daughter away with acute pancreatitis which was caused from trauma of dropping a 135 pound weight on her stomach. She was severely vomiting, in severe pain, couldn’t stand up and the Emergency room discharged her, without any pain or nausea meds I might add. Told her her lipase was high, she had pancreatitis and see you later bye. She suffered in pain for several weeks, lost almost 20 lbs, couldn’t keep food down, when we finally went to better ER at Gilbert Mercy Hospital. She was admitted right away and treated with care and attention that she did not get at Tempe St Luke’s. The medical professionals at Mercy were shocked the ER at St Luke’s released her without any treatment. I would never go to this hospital.

They’re quick. Barely any wait. All the staff is very friendly and helpful.Emergency rooms suck and take forever. Highly recommend coming here if you need to.

This place is old and run down and looks like it is stuck in the 70s, and the staff is just as bad as the building. They left me in a hallway for hours, they kept making mistakes on me and forgetting who was doing what. They didn’t have time to even talk to me like a human being, I felt like one of those mannequins they practice on in nursing school because you obviously don’t have to talk to them/have bedside manner. What they do have time for is to be unprofessional and talk behind patients back and complain about them, the reason I could here this was because I was in the hallway with my eyes closed from the harsh light all night since I didn’t have a private room area and they probably thought I couldn’t hear them or didn’t care. I can’t imagine how stressful their job is, but they have to remain professional and ethical, it’s part of their job for a reason. Just like most of us all have jobs where we have to do hard things eventhough we are thinking something negative keep it to yourself or at the very least when nobody is around. Also, nobody told me what was going on or the process, they discharged me and forgot to give me my discharge paperwork and almost forgot to give me my belongings. You won’t find a sliver of human touch or compassion here if that’s what you’re expecting. This place needs to be re-vamped severely as it is the only hospital that serves the Tempe community. We pay so much for ER visits and invest so much into ASU to be state of the art, yet look at this old run down hospital we get and worn out workers.

Even though I grew up in Tempe and lived there from 1964-1979 I had never been to Tempe St Luke’s until the night of Sunday, February 25, 2024. My mom was brought to the ER by the Tempe paramedics (as an aside the Tempe paramedics are awesome!). After about an hour I was told that tests were being run and it would take a couple of hours to get results. Because my mom was fine (in the nurse’s opinion) I was encouraged to go home and I would get a call in two hours. The waiting room is a dump so I can’t deny that I was happy to go home.Three hours later I called the hospital and was told they are still waiting on test results and that I would get a call when they are ready to discharge. Another three hours later (it is now after 2:00 a.m.) my mom calls and tells me I can come pick her up. Why didn’t the hospital ever call me?I arrive at the hospital and find my mom sitting in a wheelchair by herself in the waiting room. There is NOBODY in the waiting room but my mom at nearly 2:30 in the morning. I look around but no hospital employee is present. I walk to check-in desk and nobody is at the desk! There is nobody around to tell us what was done in the hospital and next steps so I took my mom home. When we get home I read the paperwork and it says nothing about what was done to treat her wound. It says nothing about what tests were run or the results. Medication has been prescribed but I don’t know why. She was given some sort of sedative or pain medication but I don’t know what it is. So I call the hospital and the nurse station proceeds to tell me nothing because of HIPAA. I’m told to call the Records department in the morning. By this time it is 3:30 am and I’m exhausted.I call the hospital again in the morning and speak with records. I am given the process for obtaining the records and am told it can take up to a month. Frustrated, I decide to take matters into my own hands so I call the help line for the patient portal and get an account created for my mom. Finally, I am able to see information about the tests (but still nothing about the wound). What an incredibly bad experience. St Luke’s released a patient who couldn’t walk under her own power and who we ultimately brought to Banner Desert less than 24 hours later where she is currently receiving expert care.

Been waiting to leave this review. I was in need of medical assistance and went to this hospital. In short, it was so unprofessional and the staff didn’t care about my medical emergency at all…I eventually was rushed to another hospital. If you want medical treatment or it is an emergency, I strongly recommend not to come here if you value your life.

Nurse Jen completely humiliated my girlfriend while she was in pain after surgery, I was shocked to see a medical professional act so nasty at St Luke’s, as the rest of the experience was wonderful. It was just rude and unprofessional.

It took 3 separate ER visits for them to figure out what was wrong. Was first told it was hiatal hernia, was given morphine and zofran, left and made lifestyle changes recommended. A month later I feel as if I’m having a heart attack again and come back, explaining what they told me last time. I get morphine and zofran then dismissed. The following day it happens again, even more intensely this time. I go back a third time and beg for more tests as this pain is unbearable. They discover I need my gallbladder removed. I was in ER for 13 hours before they got my room, where I was treated wonderfully by ER staff. Once I got to my room, my night nurse was pleasant and attentive. I was scheduled for surgery the next morning. I have the surgery and it all goes well. I stay another night at the hospital to make sure my pain is manageable. My pain was more than I expected and I am treated with respect and given my medications on a timely manner until the morning of my discharge. A little later a doctor comes in to let me know I’ll finally be able to leave today but unsure of sooner or later in the day. My night nurse reminds me to let them know about 15 mins before my medication time since she sees I’m struggling. I call the nurses station 15 mins prior to remind them. I’m given a new nurse “Jen” for the morning shift and she then lets me know she won’t give me the medication I was told I’d be receiving intravenously because I’d be leaving (time unknown) and she didn’t like that, so that I’d need a pill. She offered Tylonel and then another intravenous pain killer that didn’t work for me in the past. I asked her if I was being sent home with just Tylonel or what was going on. She says she’s unsure and goes to ask what I can have. I am in tears at from pain and stress especially since they made me give up my psych meds upon arrival. Once she finally returns she gives me an oxy— I ask how long it takes to work and she says 30 mins. Overwhelmed by pain I begin to bawl, and she starts clearly getting annoyed. Asking me what the problem is and telling me I should be getting up and walking around. This is my 3rd day here and I’ve NEVER seen this woman. I walk when my body allows it as I’ve just had SURGERY that affect my core. I told her I didn’t appreciate her speaking to me in this way and voices began to raise— I asked her to get out since she wasn’t helping me, especially my emotional state. She continued and I then had to tell her she needed to get out until another nurse came to check the situation. Nurse Jen begins changing her behavior in front of her colleague and the other nurse gets her to leave. I am hysterical at this point, I do not feel like I am a patient in care but somebody out of the loop being treated like an annoyance because of physical body pain caused by a medical procedure I got at THIS HOSPITAL? Doctor Wallace comes in to smooth over the situation imagine and simply tries to play it off as Jen is having a bad day? I just got surgery and am in pain crying my eyes out. I’M having a bad day and paying to be here! I received no apology and was expected to stay 3 hours following the incident for discharge but my loud crying made them get me out of there asap. I also requested not to see Nurse Jen anymore and she still came into my room two separate times. It’s truly saddening when you can tell a nurse was bully growing up and gets off on it now in her career since she can’t do it in Highschool anymore. I am truly hurt by this experience and not looking forward to future check ups in a place that treated me this way.

Changing to 5 stars, because honestly, there was nothing wrong with our experience there. Actually much better than other hospitals we’ve been to in the past.
