The best engineered mountain bikes on the planet, and especially for chunky hard technical terrain… oh, and they value their dealers, which increasingly rare with the evolution from retail to online shopping

I recently rode a 70 mile endurance race across nine different mountain bike trails. At roughly mile 20, one of the main pivot suspension bolts had loosened itself and fallen out. (please keep in mind. I have disassembled and reassembled this component multiple times so the incorrect torque spec is my fault not the original manufacturing.) Even with only one of these extremely important pivot bolts that operate the rear main triangle, the bike was able to complete the remainder of the 70 mile race with little to no consequence. I believe this is a true testament to the overbuilt nature of pivot bicycles.

I am incredibly disappointed with Pivot Cycles. I purchased a $10,000 Firebird, expecting top-notch quality and support, but the reality has been the exact opposite. The rear triangle of my frame broke, and despite reaching out to customer service, I've been left without a bike for several months now.
It's shocking that a company with Pivot's reputation could neglect its customers to this extent. I've invested a significant amount of money into this bike, and the complete lack of communication and support is unacceptable. I expected better from a brand like Pivot, but unfortunately, they have fallen short in a major way. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone looking for reliability and customer care.

Did a dumb thing on my Brompton, broke a plastic piece, Portapedal comes through with the exact item I needed, back on the Brompton! Thanks! Couldn't ask for a better experience!

Thought about pulling the trigger and updating my current REI bike (still rides great just a bit old). Then I found out that they laid off a bunch of employees no notice after the holidays. Any business this cutthroat to its employees definitely will screw over its customers.

Nice staff, great facility. Only $50 to rent a top tier bike for 4 hours, plus you get a shirt!

I bought a bike from a Pivot dealer and when I received the bike it was missing a box with the charger, front brakes, and rotor. So I contacted the bike shop owner and he said the items should’ve been inside the box because it came from Pivot and that he never opened it. That was a lie because the packing slip was inside the box pinned between the cassette and chain. The only way for that to happen if someone opened the box and manually put it that way. So he totally denied the box ever opened and that there was nothing he could do for me. So at this point I’m missing a charger brakes and rotor and pretty much dead on water. So feeling frustrated I called Pivot Cycle customer service line as a desperate attempt to get a charger. I figured I can get the brakes and rotor online but the charger was very hard to find. Needless to say Pivot customer service was beyond amazing from Patrick to Tom and Matt Long Pivot Cycles National Sales Manage. The team really took care of my needs and concern and went beyond by providing me with what I needed. I can’t say enough of how grateful I am to own a Pivot because you’re not just getting an amazing bike but also the customer service that comes with owning a Pivot. I owned 5 Pivot bikes in my life and it’s the only brand I’ll ever buy and the service that they provided me solidified of how great this company is. I wanna specially thank Matt Long for helping me out when he didn’t have to. So thanks Matt for looking out for your faithful customers and special thanks to Patrick and Tom at customer service.

Single handedly the best buying experience of a used product I've ever had. They went way, way above and beyond. Their description of the bike was spot on, but the attention and care they provided in outlining with little labeled notes around the bike things I'd need to be aware of when setting it up and maintaining it was amazing. Not only that but their packaging was stellar. Would buy from again without question.

This has to be the best local bike shop for folding bikes and folding bike gear and parts. They have a huge selection. Anyone looking to purchase a folding bike should go to Portapedal.

If you're in the market for a new Brompton or need one serviced this is the place to go. I bought my 2017 M6R here and it's kept in excellent condition thanks to Portapedal's service and parts

This review is for my 2021 Pivot Switchblade that I have been riding for about 16 months. I came from a Yeti SB130LR. I liked the Yeti, but didn’t on slower XC type rides with my kids and kid group rides, which is often. It was a bit sluggish until I got it up to speed. When it was, it was a fast, precise and fun bike. It wasn’t as playful as I would like at slower speeds and sold it to try the Switchblade.
After the first couple of rides, I knew that the Switchblade was going to work for me. It climbed amazingly well, super fun at all speeds and nimble at all speeds as well.
I currently have it set up with the following upgrades from the OEM X01 Pro build. GX AXS, PNW Loam dropper post, Absolute Black oval chain ring, Fox X2 rear shock, XX1 cassette, XX1 chain, Reynolds Blacklabel wheels with Cushcore inserts, OneUp carbon bars, 50mm RaceFace stem and Revgrips. I’m 5’-11” with a 30” inseam and decided to size down to a medium frame.
The X2 shock made a big difference in high speed chuck areas. I felt like the DPX2 would get a bit overwhelmed and start to pack out a bit. The X2 resolved that. It soaks up a lot more small and big bumps better than the DPX2 in my opinion. It also seems to have a firmer support when just pedaling. It takes a bit more to get into the shock stroke, but when it does it’s not harsh, yet smooth, and has a perceived deeper travel than 142mm. It’s been one of the best upgrades I’ve made.
I’m currently riding my Switchblade as a mullet with a -1° Wolftooth Geoadjust headset and the flip chip in low. This has been the best change I’ve made to the Switchblade to date. Having a slacker headtube angle and the 27.5 rear wheel has made the bike much more aggressive with very little penalty. The front end might wonder a bit on steer climbs, but nothing unmanageable. The 27.5 rear wheel makes the technical climbs easier as well. It also takes the edge off the punchy climbs. Of course it doesn’t carry as much speed as the 29 wheel, but top speed isn’t what I’m after. It still pedals well on XC rides. If there are any penalties I don’t feel much and notice a lot when pointed down.
I had planned selling the Switchblade after a season to try something else, but I’m enjoying to too much to do so. As of now, the only other bike I’d go for is a Firebird. In all, the Switchblade is the best bike I’ve ever ridden. I absolutely love ridding it. It does great on the kid rides, a blast on my steep and technical black and red local trails and holds it own in the bike parks. The Switchblade has been the perfect 1 bike quiver killer for me. Anyone looking for 1 bike to do it all should consider the Switchblade.
Other bikes that I have ridden or demoed for reference: Yeti SB115, SB130LR, SB150, Ibis Ripley, Ripmo, Mojo 3, HD5, Mondraker Foxy, Specialized Stumpjumper Epic, Forbidden Druid, Pivot Firebird.
