Overview:Most of the reviews of this place I have to assume are astroturfed nonsense. This "resort" is incredibly overpriced and very unclean. It is not nice or fancy. It is actually pretty junky. The Good:The service at the bar area was excellent. The bartenders know their stuff and make great drinks. They'll introduce you to liquors you didn't know existed. The Bad:The room had multiple spider nests in it. I was bitten by a spider in the night and had a welt on my hand for nearly 3 weeks afterward. I have attached pictures of the spider nests to this review.Housekeeping cleaned our room one day and took dirty dishes out of our room and left them outside the door, where they sat for over 24 hours until we complained. We saw multiple rooms with dirty dishes sitting outside them for days. Cleanliness is not a priority for the Amara. The resort itself is at the bottom of a very steep hill that is difficult to navigate at night (it is nearly pitch black). The valets will take you most of the way up the hill on a golf cart if you ask.The fitness center is very small and can get crowded easily. If you have any mobility issues whatsoever, do not stay in the creekside suites. There is not an elevator that can take you to these rooms and you will have to go up and down stairs. The closest a luggage cart can get to your room for these suites is about 50 yards away and requires going through multiple doors.Outdoor lanterns taped to the railings to prop them up and outdoor storage units are bursting at the seams were very "on brand" for this place. The Ugly:The "director of rooms" did call me after I complained to let me know they reversed my "resort fees", which is a nightly charge they charge you so they can reverse it when you complain and hopefully placate an unhappy guest. She called when I was traveling and did not have time to talk; I told her I definitely wanted to talk to her and she gave me her contact information. Further attempts to call her back were ignored by her. I eventually got a hold of her via email and she told me she had "addressed my feedback with her team" and presumably didn't need to talk with me again. Conclusion:Don't stay here. Find a nicer place in nearby Cottonwood for half the price.

Pretty nice place! I didn't get to fully enjoy everything, but I don't have any complaints. People were all very friendly and nice.

Had the best time staying at Amara while visiting Sedona! Great location, service and an amazing hot tub/pool.

This place was supposed to be the really nice place me and my friend splurged on during out trip to AZ.Before our arrival, we were being bombarded with $200/night upgrade "offers" on top of the $400 night we were already being charged. We didn't opt for it and we're stuck in likely the crappiest room they had with a view of a dumpster and parking lot. Patios were not upkept (covered in leaves and cigarette butts) and our room had paint damage all over. The service was nice, front desk and valet - but seemed like a thin veil to cover up with a smile how much they are ripping you off. I have no problem paying the significant money for a very nice hotel (my fav property is Camelback Spa), but this just did not do it and was very disappointed.Paid $25 for a pot of room service coffee, because the espresso machines in the room are totally inoperable. No free water upon check in included with room. The grounds are very nice, if you're going to stay make it max one night to enjoy the pool/hot tub with the view then head to a more reasonable location. Will not be recommending.

We had an amazing experience at this resort! Centrally located, attentive staff, excellent restaurants with the best craft cocktails, and a gorgeous view every day. Be sure and check out the creek area, which is so peaceful. Loved the spa and the night time activities. Pool and hot tub were perfect, even in November. Will definitely return!Rooms: Clean and quiet. Nice bathroom and spa products.Food & drinks: Best bartenders and drinks in Sedona!

Our overall stay is great, the staff are very friendly. However, there are three things we would like to point out:1. We found a used Q-tip with earwax in the bathroom which is very disgusting.2. If you are allergic to dust or pollen, this is absolutely not the place for you, environmental allergens are crazy in this resort.3. We stayed over Thanksgiving and paid double of the normal rate, we definitely expected better view and cleaner room than this.

This hotel is an absolute dream. We had a large suite with an adjoining bedroom attached over looking the creek with three separate balconies. I cannot say enough about this hotel. They have a beautiful hidden creek with an amazing swing that will go down in history as one of my most relaxing vacation moments. The infinity pool with gorgeous views was absolutely breathtaking. Service and friendliness was top notch. Our two daughters had a blast. I can’t wait to come back. Top ten favorite hotels we have ever stayed at. Thank you Amara.

(Construction woke us up every day between 4-5 AM)We arrived late at night, upon arriving we were informed there was major construction and it would affect our room. NOTHING was said to us prior to our arrival about construction. I asked and the receptionist said they knew people would cancel their booking so they waiting til you got there to inform you. We were assured the view was great and would be worth it, our view was a tree and the parking lot. We had to walk outside around the whole building and walk up a flight of stairs and through another building to access our room. The food was good but not great. The pool was not heated like they said and the jacuzzi was colder than the pool. Multiple people asked and complained while I was there. When I checked out I also questioned why I was not informed of the construction and that the stay was not pleasant, they applied a discount but overall this place was not worth it. I’m leaving two stars because it was very clean down stairs away from the construction but they absolutely knew what they were doing by waiting to inform guest until they arrived and couldn’t get a hotel anywhere else last min.

Room was decent - we got a patio king. I would suggest spending the extra money and getting interior facing or creekside as the interior of the resort is where the views are. The resort itself is quite small - based on photos I was expecting a larger courtyard, pool, and hot tub. I wish there were more fire pits / more opportunities for a private experience but understand square footage is limited! We didn’t utilize the pool or hot tub but those who were in it appeared to be enjoying. The creek was a nice touch to be able to go down and walk along a short trail that goes by L’Auberge. We were able to walk everywhere which was also an added plus, location is great. We also drove our electric vehicle up and were able to charge overnight which was super convenient and a nice surprise! There was a gentleman who checked us in and out who was extremely kind and polite. I asked one of the ladies for some hot water in the evening time as she gave me some attitude even though there were tea bags out and cups.. it was odd. My husband enjoyed his breakfast burrito at the restaurant on site. Overall, I have always wanted to stay here, and can now say I did but I’m not 100% sure I would spend the $400 to stay here for one night compared to cheaper options in the same location.

Stayed at Amara resort 2weeks ago. Saltrock restaurant inside the lobby was closed for construction, with construction sheets blocking views for our first 2 days of 3. Lots of construction on site with accompanying noise levels. No coffee in the morning for first 2 days as “coffee machine was broken” and staff unable to make espresso drinks per management. Also coffee machine in room was broken. Hotel room was comfortable and on-site staff were excellent. I did not encounter any managers or concierge services on site. There was no warning on the website of the ongoing construction, nor was it mentioned when I spoke with the front desk staff prior to my arrival. This is an expensive hotel room in a good location, but it does not have the look or feel of a resort. Management and owners should make more of an effort. Call before you book to find out if construction is ongoing.

This is a difficult review to write because there is such a difference between the review of our room and the Amara staff. Our room was uncomfortable and unsafe with many things that were broken, but the staff were the best I've met and would bring me back.(TL:DR) I just returned to Canada from visiting my sister, Elizabeth, in the US and we took a short trip to Sedona. We were so excited to have a rare get-away, just us sisters, and were excited to check in to Amara. It is in a beautiful location, and the valet and the person at the front desk who checked us in were both lovely.Unfortunately, our stay was the worst hotel experience of my life, neither of us got any sleep and I ended up in a foul mood the next morning for our jeep tour.Room issues ~ the room LOOKED beautiful (see gallery photos) but ...* the air conditioning fan in the closet was huge and LOUD, cycling on and off all night to the point I actually swore at the thing. There was no way to sleep through it.* the coffee machine (not Keurig) was broken* the phone did not work so we could not call the front desk to report the issues (which seemed odd since the front desk specified we needed to call room service for ice)* my sister walked down to the front desk to report the above issues before dinner but was told by the staff that the loud fan was normal for an air conditioning unit (absolutely not)* additionally, the outlet in the side table by my bed did not work so I had to charge my phone using a different outlet* the beds were so soft I woke up with a backache and the beautiful looking pillows were so thick I have no idea how anyone can sleep on them unless they sleep at a 45 degree angle (again, look over comfort)* finally, we were in a ground floor room which opened to a small patio with chairs and a table. Past that there was a pathway used by construction workers working at the hotel and other hotel guests. What made me really uncomfortable was that the patio doors had no screen door. A screen door may not be required if there are no bugs as we have in Canada, but I stayed in the room to work on stretches and did not feel safe to leave the patio door open because the room did not have a screen door with a lock. Anyone could have walked in while I was doing my floor work! What is the hotel thinking?!!When we checked out, my sister was asked how we enjoyed our stay and she mentioned the air conditioning unit and received a very small credit for the resort and valet fee. Now, for the staff - simply the best and I hope the hotel treasurse them. As I mentioned above, every single staff member we met at the Amara made us feel we were welcome guests in their own home. From the valet staff, the servers, the front desk and the bartender (unfortunately I only got the name of one ~ Dean, the bartender who was so patient and helpful to us as we decided which cognac and scotch we wanted). I hope the staff are well-paid because they are the only thing that made our stay worthwhile. And I know that this is a long post, and I hate to seem melodramatic but as my sister and I age - and with the issues of the last few years - it is only realistic to know that at our ages, my sister and I don't know how many more times we can have a trip like this together. Many I hope, and I hope that each one is better than the awful room we had at the Amara.

Went to Sedona to celebrate 2 21st birthdays on mom daughter girls trip. This resort has the kindest workers, and want to give a shout-out to Erin Camacho. She was the nicest sweetest employee in the restaurant, Salt Rock (which is excellent!) and went out of her way to make sure we had all we need! Rosemary at the front desk also gave fabulous recommendations and was extremely nice and helpful. The hotel was in the perfect location. They offer golf cart rides that take you right to uptown Sedona and you can walk and shop the entire town. The view from the pool and lobby/restaurant is absolutely amazing, perfect view of the red rocks.Rooms: Rooms are cozy and niceWalkability: Right uptown Sedona but down by the creek so does not feel like downtown, perfect location for walking to restaurants and shops. Golf cart rides to the top of the hill.

Review is for spa experience. My mother and I had a girls weekend in late March and got services at the spa (did not stay at the hotel). I received a massage and my mother a facial. The spa facilities were comfy and clean. The front desk was friendly and we enjoyed the snacks in the relaxation room. She really enjoyed her facial and bought some products. My massage therapist was nice and did well; however, she oddly she wore gloves during the massage? I’ve been to other spas after the pandemic and I’ve never had this before. I feel like the massage would have been better without the gloves. Don’t know if it was some sort of health thing or what but I wish I would have known those plastic gloves you use usually for like food serving were going to be used, so I could have just gotten a facial instead. The sound of the gloves was a bit distracting and felt weird on my skin. I also didn’t know what material they were - what if I were allergic to any of the material?I suggest letting guests know at booking if your massage therapist for some odd reason is using gloves during treatment so patrons can make an educated decision. Would go back if that were resolved. We ate at SaltRock - the food is interesting and tasty. A bit pricey for what you get but it’s Sedona.

My husband and i had the pleasure of staying at Amara hotel to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary. It was the perfect place for the occasion as the staff treated us really well and made us feel special every step of the way. The extra effort they put in was unbelievable and unlike any other hotel hospitality we've experienced. The room we got was a king room facing the inner garden. It was cozy and clean and was the perfect size for us. No bathtub though but we didn't mind. Now, onto the restaurant! Normally we don't dine at hotel restaurants out of fear of paying for overpriced hotel food but this wasn't the case. The salt rock resto and bar was actually one of the more decent places we've tried in uptown Sedona and serves delicious and healthy - and more importantly, moderately priced food considering its location in uptown Sedona.10/10 stars from us and we are looking forward to our next visit!
