I really wanted this place to work. I will say, the grounds are beautiful and it is a very calming environment. My autistic son came here for therapy and support. He was struggling emotionally and behaviorally and got kicked out of the class. I understand that they had to have him removed to keep safety with the class. I got him calmed down and we talked through what he could do next time. Well at the end of the session, the therapist comes up to him and starts lecturing him about everything he did wrong and gets him all upset and out of control again. She then turns to lecture me about how inappropriate his behaviors were. I’m like I’m obviously trying to work on those which is why we are here. This wasn’t therapeutic at all and he was terrified to go back with how he was treated. I totally understand that the behavior wasn’t ok. But this wasn’t addressed in a way to help regulate him. What is the point of therapy if you aren’t going to teach him skills?Additionally, the kids are expected to wait for very long turns to do a simple task and are also expected to clean up poop etc. This may work for other kids but was not therapeutic to my son. Seemed to be more helping with chores than therapy. Finally, communication is so rough here. They would call me 3 days in a row to ask the same question. There is no consistency with communication and they are hard to work with.I had heard so many benefits to equine therapy and I was so saddened that that was not our experience.

These people are angels. The hard work and dedication to their clients, animals, and the community is inspiring. I’m a veteran, nurse, and first responder and I have had the honor of working with Terra, the owner. This lady is magical. Her knowledge, wisdom, and energy is something I never experienced before. She managed to melt so many layers in just a few interactions, which is something that 20 years of therapy never did. She truly cares about people on such a deep level, and you cannot help but surrender to it all. It’s honestly one of the craziest experiences because I have never even come close to feeling like there is a light at the end of this tunnel, and then this farm and Terra came into my life. For the first time in a long time I feel hope+ unconditional acceptance and love that I have only ever experienced from my dog. Terra and the amazing staff- thank you for all your hard work and for truly creating such a special place where people can just be themselves and not be judged. Thank you for caring for people on such a deep level. It is truly felt and something I hope everyone will get to experience in their lifetime. Truly blessed to have met you.

I had a foster kiddo that was able to attend. She came from a very hard place and was in numerous types of therapies. I can honestly say Hunkapi made the biggest difference. The work they do is invaluable to traumatized children.

We love the program, but they get 2 stars because the communication is ATROCIOUS that has led to frustration and countless circular conversations. No matter how many people we talk to about a need to cancel an appt (2 of which we talked to them weeks in advance because we knew we'd be out of town) it seems my child is never taken off the schedule, and then he goes down as a missed appt. This has resulted in multiple texts/phone calls, where we have to AGAIN explain why we won't be present or why we weren't there. We have even had 2 people tell us we might not be able to continue the program because of this. When I've explained it to them, they go back and can then seem to find the notes about the conversation I had with someone. Most recently, our insurance was dropped, but we asked to stay on the schedule until we decided whether or not we wanted to pay out of pocket. I called them back that same day to request we be removed from the schedule. That was 3 weeks ago, and we're still receiving 4-5 forms of communication each week. I spoke to 2 people this week, and just received another call asking why we weren't at his appointment this morning! Every time I talked to someone, I say I've called and left messages or talked to someone, or sent emails: I am then asked what number/email I'm using. Even if, by chance, I was using the wrong everything (all of which I get from their website or our portal) this doesn't account for all the times they have called ME. We considered returning if our insurance was picked back up, but I can guarantee we will not. It has become apparent that our conversations are not important enough to actually follow through on, so why put our family through that frustration?

This place is simply wonderful! I had never heard of it. I found out about the yoga through an event posted on Yelp. Per their website the mission is: "To Teach the World to Fear Less and Love More.We do this by regularly creating fresh experiences for our clients/participants that zing connection from head to toe. The kind of zing that makes you realize you are alive and that life can be joyful. While you're experiencing, the staff notice how deep are your sighs, how relaxed your jaw, whether there is the hint of a smile, a giggle of fear or one of happiness, whether your eyes are dilated with concern or smiling with joy..."They offer various therapeutic modalities to work with people.I love the energy there and I'm happy to see this place exists. I'll definitely be going back for yoga once it cools down. This class I took was on June 24th and it was warm, but not too hot that day. Doing yoga outside isn't my cup of tea this time of year. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a positive and meaningful organization to support.

Hunkapi has been a blessing for our family. Their efforts have made a real difference! If you have teens or anyone in your life in need of equine therapy, I feel completely confident in recommending their services. The staff is caring and capable. This is a perfect fit for people who respond well to animal therapy.

I gave three stars because the office is just not well organized. I would call and tell one person something and then get in trouble or penalized for it later because that one person did not note it in my chart. I had at the end asked to be discharged from the program due to the drive out there and being unable to attend due to chronic pain, and I get a phone call the next week that I'm being removed due to too many absences which I'm sure will keep me from being able to reenter the program in the future. Extremely frustrating and annoying. I wish they had better communication.
