I tried to rent a car from a location that ended up being closed. I went to the airport and after a long time got me a car and I was on my way . Cost a little more at the airport but on vacation who cares.

I had checked in online prior to picking up my vehicle at Phoenix airport. I received a confirmation email telling me to skip the counter and walk straight to my vehicle. But being my first rental car experience, I wanted to make sure we had everything in order. I approached the counter and asked if I should check in with him first, even if I had checked in online. He said yes, I should come to the counter first, which in retrospect, was clearly a deception to cheat us out of more money, as he was aware that we had already checked in online. He proceeded to ask us a bombardment of questions, and we VERY clearly stated we were insured and we're not interested in any Hertz insurance or upgrades. He flips his iPad, asks for my signature, sends us on our way. We were 2 states away when we realized that there was an additional $400 insurance charge. We attempted to call the Hertz in Phoenix, but they would only connect us to corporate. They were rude and unhelpful, and basically told us that we needed to take it up with the Hertz in Pheonix IN PERSON. At this point, we were hundreds of miles away and figured we could dispute it when we returned at the end of our trip. When we returned to the counter, we were told that since we returned the vehicle, we would not be refunded for the insurance since we had already returned the car. So we were scammed into paying more than $1K for a 2 door car for less than a week.Criminal. I will never return to Hertz in the future and make my experience known to others so they aren't cheated or scammed by these slimy people.

This location sucks. I returned my rental vehicle in pristine condition and with a full tank yet they chose to lie and claim I dropped it off with a low tank, charging me over $100 despite having filled it up only minutes before I dropped it off. They want me to produce a receipt for the gas, as if I'd think to bring it home with me and keep it until they decide to charge me. Either they're lying or someone managed to siphon gas from the car after I dropped it off, or perhaps the employees took a joyride with it (wouldn't be surprised.) I sent them a copy of my credit card statement that shows the gas purchase the morning I dropped off the car, I'm hoping they'll refund me but I'll probably have to take it up with Amex. Especially being a Gold Plus Rewards member I found it very disrespectful for them to do this to me. I would think twice about renting at the Phoenix airport Hertz location, and definitely keep good records and gas receipts before drop off if you do choose to rent here. Update: In the end, they *did* refund me but it took a few tries. I had to follow up to my support message 3 days later, then they refund me $91. I ask about the remainder of the fee and they acted confused so I had to show them a screenshot of the new receipt, with a $12+ balance showing. Another three days later, and I finally got my full refund. I'll try another rental company next time i'm in the area.

Find another rental agency. Had reservations and printed them. Still had problems. No one in line yet they had us stand waiting for eye contact because they were goofing and chatting with each other. Everyone on our shuttle bus went to other companies. Guess they already knew about how bad Hertz is. We learned and will never use this company anywhere else, either. Scottsdale airport has lots of other options.

Terrible service and incompetent across the board. It's great to be a gold member and they still can't seem to get it right. Absolutely awful customer service. Will be changing our rental car company of choice...

We got a great deal for a mini suv which cost us about $32 a day and with tax, we paid close to $200 a week for rental. The check in and checkout was a nightmare. You ate at least looking for a 2 hour wait! The employees are not so friendly but you can't beat the price.

Went to get a rental car and what should have taken 5 minutes was a 40 minute process...the lady at the front was super sweet and kind, just took a while.

Very pleased with my Hertz rental from the Scottsdale Airport. Easy to get the car, easy to drop off the car. Car was clean when I picked it up and I received a free upgrade in class. All staff that I dealt with were very friendly and efficient. No lines! Quick service here!
