“If you are a Diana Gabaldon fan, then you know about this independent bookstore located in Scottsdale, Az. I have been a fan of DG for many many years, and a trip to the Poisoned Pen has been on my bucket list for years. I finally got to go, and it did not disappoint. It was smaller than I envisioned, but so charming. There is a section devoted to Diana’s work, as well as some items from the STARZ series. Diana lives nearby and she signs most, if not all of the items they sell there. The associates are super friendly and shared some experiences they have had with Herself over the years. If you are not a Diana Gabaldon fan, you will still love this endearing bookstore.”
“I was looking for magic toys for my grandsons (5 & 10 years of age). Sarah (I hope I got that right) greeted me as I walked in the door and took me right to the area I was looking for. I found several toys, and books and even bought a birthday present which they wrapped for me. I highly recommend them from a selection and customer service standpoint. Thank you, I know you made me look like a hero!”

There is a Starbucks coffee inside the store that you can enjoy. Hot cup of coffee while you read your favorite book.

“If you are walking on campus you will see this book store. BEWARE. Arty the Artichoke sometimes hangs around here. He can get into moods some times. One time there was this student in there wearing a Mesa Community College shirt because she was taking classes at both campuses and just needed a book for a class at MCC. Arty goes up to her and says "why! is my school not good enough for you?" He then said that no one was aloud to sell her the book unless she bought a Scottsdale Community College t-shirt, went to the bathroom and changed, then went up to the counter to buy it. She left the place in tears.”
“So happy that they carry the vegan food that my family loves. I moved here in 2019, bc of the pandemic I was not able to explore around for vegan food. My son came to visit and requested a dinner roast. Looking online I found the ABC. They carried all the amazing vegan food that we love, also you can not find these brands in the regular supermarket. I am glad that I found ABC. Staff was super nice and helpful.”

“I was on a mission to come and check out Alcuin Books. The moment I walked in I felt an emence energy of treasured knowledge. I was immediately struck with the variety of classics. Richard Murian the store owner, had this unbelievable well preserved collection of the "House of Commons". I also was impressed with their collection of biology, philosophy and religious books as well. I will most certainly be going back. I could spend days in there! “I’m visiting from Texas right now and my best friend just happens to live in Phoenix so we decided to walk around Old Town! I’m so glad we did because we stumbled into this gem of a gallery. My friend and I are both artists so we had an absolute blast looking at all the amazing paintings, sculptures, and photography (and more actually!), however, the real gem at this gallery is Mark! He immediately welcomed us in and told us to make ourselves comfortable, spoke to us throughout our visit to give us the background on various artists and point out things we might have missed in the paintings, and talked about certain styles and techniques. I have never been in a gallery with someone as passionate as Mark and I wish I lived locally so I could attend the book clubs and art walks they host! Such a cool space. Do not skip this. It’s 100% worth it.”
