I DO NOT RECOMMEND. Trust me, I do NOT recommend them.
This office has really gone downhill over the past couple of years. Due to a revolving door of vets, we rarely see the same vet twice in a row. The waiting area is chaotic. Whereas we used to feel like our pets were part of their family, now we just feel like benefactors. Everything is about the bottomline. We started feeling like just a number a couple of years ago -- after at least seven of our dogs being their clients since they opened. Because we had a long-standing relationship with this office, we stuck it out hoping it would change. It didn't.
I took a dog with a mast cell tumor in two weeks ago to have it removed. The vet did an aspiration of the tumor during the consult and told me it was mast cell because she checked the slide and could see the cells. Because she was able to see the cells in-house, I opted for not sending that sample out to the lab. After my dog had the surgery, I waited for almost two weeks before asking where the biopsy report is. It turns out that when I signed the paper I opted out of a biopsy of the TUMOR, not the ASPIRATION SAMPLE. This was not explained to me. An email was ignored and I had to wait two days to get a callback when I asked about the biopsy. Seriously, who spends the money to have a cancerous tumor removed without getting a biopsy to see if the margins are good or poor? When the vet called me TWO WEEKS AFTER THE SURGERY, she placed the blame on me and a "miscommunication." Needless to say, I've changed vets and our new vet was able to see that they had NOT gotten clean margins.
The stitches they did during my dog's surgery popped open within 12 hours. Granted, the tumor was in a bad spot but had I realized that I would end up dumping another $2,000 into fixing the botched stitches (including being charged to sedate her to fix THEIR stitch work), I may have opted for a skin graft but that option was never mentioned to me by anyone at STAH. Had I been given the option of amputation I most likely would have done that. Instead, they put an awkward bandage on my dog that lasted about 20 minutes before it ripped out at least seven more stitches. My dog has had two more surgeries on top of the two done at STAH (original surgery and "fixing" the stitches they did) along with a number of vet visits with our new vet and an all day ER vet visit to try to fix the 3"x3" open wound on her leg.
The bottomline is: At this vet's office, you'll be nothing more than a credit card and a number. Pet parents beware.

I had an appointment to take my dog Rascal for a shot. Because I’m unable to drive lately, I have to depend on people to take me where I need to go. Yesterday it was my niece who took me but she was late. I called the Veterinarian’s office to tell them I was going to be late. They were kind enough to hold the appointment instead of making me make another appointment. I really appreciated that.

All of the people are so awesome and so nice. They got my Ellie in in short notice with swelling in her leg and they have taken care of our new pup Mabel. They are so caring and truly care for my girls!

While everyone in the practice is kind, polite and knowledgeable, Dr Billie has gone above and beyond managing the care of our senior dachshunds. While out of state, she returned my calls/emailed us when our old girl failed, recommended what we should do, and when our girl passed, sent on very kind and loving thoughts, easing our pain. She is an asset to your practice, and we are so appreciative. (Late post: wrote it and never hit send. 2022)

Great place. Ive been taking my fur babies for a couple of years. We have seen several of the Drs.and they have all been great along with the staff. I especially appreciate Dr. Javier . She always takes the time to throughly explain things and has a relatable down to earth personally. Shes the primary vet for my 3 pups but again i have good experiences with all of them so i don't think you could good wrong.

I can’t say enough great things about Dr Pratas and her team! My pup was so sick. I had taken her to Vetco Clinic a week prior and she was given antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection and ear drops for an ear infection but after a full week of antibiotics she wasn’t getting any better. She wasn’t eating/drinking on her own, very weak, had difficulty walking, and was dehydrated despite my best efforts of giving her fluids via syringe. Dr Pratas was very knowledgeable and compassionate in her approach and was able to run tests and confirm that my dog had Addison’s Disease. They went above and beyond to help my Sadie. Dr Pratas continued to work with me after I brought her home and addressed all my concerns. San Tan Animal Hospital turned a scary situation into a true blessing. So thankful to have walked through their doors and received the best care for my pup! Can’t recommend them enough! Thank you ❤️

San Tan Animal Hospital is amazing and helped my family through one of the most painful days of our lives. My 6 year old German Shepherd service dog was starting to look like he was getting sick so I brought him in for an exam. Chewy was a very driven dog and regardless of how awful he felt, he still constantly wanted to play and do what he was trained to do which made it difficult to tell how sick he was. My worst fear came true though, he was dying. We just didn't know how severe until the lab work came back the next day. My wife and I got the call the following day about Chewys results. There was no hope and his labs indicated that he was much sicker than he appeared to be. I had to make the impossibly difficult decision to put him to sleep. I had literally spent every dollar I had the day before though. This is where San Tan Animal Hospital really helped, which I will forever be grateful for. They knew that Chewy was more than just a pet, and that a private cremation with his ashes being returned to me was important so they helped make it financially possible. When my wife and I arrived with Chewy, I was an absolute emotional mess. I didn't want to wait in a lobby with people like that, so the staff came outside to meet us and take us in the employee entrance in the back straight to a private room. When the doctor came in, she spent a little time chatting with my wife and I. She said that he's clearly very driven because she's never seen a dog so active with lab work as severe as his was. Chewy's final moments were doing his favorite thing, catching his ball. When it was time, he laid down against my wife and I on the floor. The vet was gentle and respectful about it, so Chewy went peacefully and painlessly.
Thank you San Tan Animal Hospital. I wish I had the words to explain how grateful I am for all you've done. You went far above and beyond to help me and my family through one of the most challenging days we've ever faced. I've lost pets that I loved dearly in the past...but Chewy was different because he was much more than that. I think you understood that and you clearly cared not just about him, but his humans as well. Thank you so much for everything, and thank you for making this financially possible so my boy didn't have to suffer anymore.
