I read a description that the trail was paved but unkempt. The trail is clearly marked and very rocky at certain points. It is a steady in line for the most part with some steep points.
I wanted to ride my bike up the trail, which proved to be very difficult on a hybrid bicycle. I imagine that it would be a lot easier on a decent mountain bike. The key would be the bigger tires with better grip. The down hill on my bike wasn't much easier as my hybrid tires were too thin and I ended up taking a tumble. So, watch your speed , especially since there trail is available to hikers and horseback riders.
Overall, it was a fun and challenging bike ride. A better bike would probably fare better. But the hike itself would be a pleasant on in the late afternoon. Make sure to bring a flashlight for the Fall season as the trail closes at 6pm.
Parking: Parking is on a dirt lot with car and truck parking to the left as you drive in and horse trailer parking to the right.
Toilets: There is one out house at the beginning of the trail.
Dog-friendliness: Dogs on a leash are allowed

Great hiking and biking trails. Few good parking spots. Beautiful area. People are pretty friendly here. No over night camping. The host watches the area pretty frequently.

I'm from Colorado, and this trail didn't disappoint. Nice, climb, and plenty of fun obstacles, and it's a very nice trail design.

Beautiful place, a must for hiking/sight- seeing/historical loving place. Just a short walk over the creek and walk to the gate. Make sure to close the gate when you enter as well as leave. And have fun!

This is an up and back trail. Includes a not terribly steep climb, a rocky base and nice decent. Go early to avoid the sun.

Ranch Trail #62 from Senator highway is part of the Prescott Circle trail and has fabulous 270 degree views from west to east taking in the Sierra Prietas to the west, Thumb Butte, the San Francisco Peaks and Prescott Valley. Access the trail from the Watershed parking lot on the east side of Senator highway near Goldwater lake. The trail starts in scrub oak and within 1/2 mile you will have nice views west including Goldwater Lakes. This first part is unshaded so best to do early if you are going in the summer or hike fall through spring. As you turn to face north the trail is nicely shaded and pines and oaks take over as you meander in the forest. In late October the fall colors were stunning. You can take this trail about 5 miles in to the junction with 9854, and go back the way you came, which is the most scenic; or shorten your round trip by 3 miles by taking the 9854 south for 0.8 min, the taking the Watershed trail #299 southwest and back to your parking spot. Watershed is a rough, hilly and rocky ATV trail, but on a Saturday in peak leaf viewing season, I saw no ATVs or even other hikers. #299 has views to the south giving you a full 360 experience, but it is not a particularly attractive trail other than a nice flat portion in the pines so if you have the time, go back the way you came.
