The hike is intermediate-level tough, but the view is phenomenal. The way down is steep. Good supportive shoes will help. There are picnic tables at each zig-zag on the way up. Sunblock and at least 64 oz of water are needed.Parking: There was a portable pottyDog-friendliness: We saw a couple dogs on leashes.

It's about 5 miles round trip. Long switchbacks provide a steady climb to the top. Picnic tables are provided every 1/2 mile or so for rest or for smoking marijuana. Almost no shade mid dayParking: Its fineRestrooms: 1 port-a-potty that needed a cleaning

Great trail for a good workout hike. It's not too easy, not too hard. It has a decent incline and is roughly 2.5 miles to the top. There are no trees on the trail, so wear a hat and bring water. The view is amazing.Restrooms: There is a Porta Pottie.Dog-friendliness: You can bring your dog which must be leashed.

Very nice view at the top. You can see almost all of Prescott Valley. Mostly incline the way to the top. Needs some work since last winter. There are a lot of uneven surfaces from water causing ruts and washing dirt away from the trail exposing a lot of rocks.Parking: About 30 spots in an unpaid parking lot. Usually never full, but would not risk parking on narrow road if parking lot is full.Fees: No feesRestrooms: Porta potty at the beginning of trail.Dog-friendliness: Always a few dogs on the trail. Dog friendly trail.

Glassford Hill is a much more interesting mountain than it appears to be from the road. I was disappointed that when the city decided to create a public hiking trail, that trail became an almost (but not really) wheelchair accessible ROAD that zigzags all over the face of the mountain, creating an ugly blemish and adding an excessive and unnecessary amount of distance to the hike. They tried to make what should have been a hike from the base to the summit into an almost flat road trip. But it was very thoughtful of them to add picnic tables at every switchback and signs with interesting information along the way.The road (mislabeled "trail") doesn't take hikers to any of the interesting volcanic features that experienced hikers would really like to enjoy close-up (like the magma dome). But the trail is very scenic, because the mountain is scenic, especially when there has been plenty of recent rain. The view from the summit is breathtaking, and it's well worth the trip. One more thing that could annoy some hikers is that the parking lot isn't at the trailhead. We have to park, then walk along a dirt road to the trailhead, then begin the actual hike. It feels like the people who designed this hiking trail weren't, themselves, hikers. With all of that in mind, the city might consider just paving the hiking trail to make it entirely handicap accessible, for motorized scooters and wheelchairs. If there was going to be a trail designed for people who love nature but can't enjoy it because of a disability, this trail needs only that improvement to make it ideal for that purpose. This probably seems like a more negative review than I had intended, so I want people to understand that it's not a terrible hike, it's a wonderful hike. It's perfect for trail runners, for sure, and an excellent opportunity for people in the neighborhood to get outside, get some exercise and be rewarded for the effort with gorgeous views. And (bonus!) we don't have to pay a parking fee to have this rewarding adventure.

I was very upset. First time I took my foster dog Tanner. I wanted to take him somewhere different, because our normal walk was getting mundane. Of course I had him leashed with his vest. We had just started, and all of a sudden a lady with her two dogs(not leashed), ran up barking to my dog Tanner. She was saying, lay, stop, and they didn’t listen. I had to pick Tanner up,(he’s 65 lbs). I have scratches on my legs from her dogs. I asked her to call them off, but she kept saying they were friendly. Her name was Karen. When I expressed my opinion, and concern, she said she’s been walking that trail with her dogs for a year, with no issues. Karen told me, “If you can’t control your dog, don’t bring him here”. Seriously! Tanner was on a leash! It looks like a beautiful trail, but it needs to be monitored. There’s a leash law here, correct? Very frustrating

I would definitely recommend this trail because of the scenic views. For those of you that hunt Pokemon the sign is a gym and there are many pokémon along the trail, as well. There are coyotes and rattlesnakes up there (mostly at night, but I wouldn't want to stumble upon any rattlesnakes during the day). I recommend sticking to the trail on this one.

Good trail for a longer hike. Pretty steep terrain makes it ideal for a workout. Towards the top, it has switchbacks with picnic tables along each to rest or eat lunch. Great scenery, and it goes all the way to the top of Glassford hill so you have a great view of both sides of the valley. Great for hiking and experienced bikers.

This 4.2 mile out and back trail offers 360 degree views from the top, a rarity for such a short and easily accessible trail right in town. The parking area is found at the SW intersection of Antelope Ln and N Castle Dr and is quite large. I went on a cold weekday and only saw 5 other hikers but undoubtedly this gets very busy on a weekend judging by the size of the parking lot. There is an installation of contemporary artwork of foraging deer / horses as you start the trail. The trail itself is very wide and a mix of dirt with some rock and climbs at a gradual incline all the way up. At each of the major switchbacks there are nicely maintained picnic tables offering great views of the valleys to the east and north. A handful of interpretive signs offer information about wildlife, geology and history of the hill. There are also GPS and mile markers at regular intervals. As you approach the top a few of the switchbacks are a bit steeper but the view at the top is worth it as you are now able to see the southern and western mountain ranges as well as all the way around to the east and north. A picnic table is also situated the top along with additional historical info. The top can be windy so be prepared, also this is not the best trail to take right after a rain or snow. I went two days after a snow and even though the majority of snow had melted it felt like I had an extra 2 pounds of mud on my boots at times !
