Definitely not what they say. Promised to “Skip the line” but really you show up at the standard line with 50 other customers complaining that they were tricked as well. Horrible company and a total waste of hours.

Also only two attendants for 30 people. Awful service.

Awful, Awful, Awful customer service. They charged us $100 "outside cleaning fee" with no explanation (the car was dirty when we picked it up), they never responded to my online complaint from 4 weeks ago (they promise a 3-5 day response) and when I called the Phoenix Sky Harbor counter, they redirected me back to the endless 800 number phone tree. It's a great racket - steal $100 from your once loyal customer, then offer them no way to challenge it. Did I mention AWFUL?

There wasn't a car available when we got to Thrifty after our flight landed in Phoenix, which made the whole pre-arrival process of checking in via the phone pointless, since we couldn't walk straight to the lot and pick up the car.
Angela ended up helping us out a lot, though, and gave us a free upgrade plus a couple of extra perks, and we were able to leave right away instead of waiting.

I don’t know why we did not remember what a horrible experience was the last time we rented from Dollar Thrifty at the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. Twice we were told we could check in on line, a representative would be able to assist and we would not have to stand in line. Wrong. No representative present. Wait time in line was in excess of one hour. There are no or short lines at National, Alamo and Budget. They are much more efficient. This has been a disaster

Only thing I disliked is they get you with hidden rates, i don't know how my rental went up to 200 for 2 days when the rental it's self was only 28 a day, the insurance was $25 a day and somehow the taxes and fees were the same amount as the rental doubling my charge.

I had a great experience with Thrifty thanks to Gary! He was very helpful and knowledgeable about the Phoenix/Scottsdale area as well. I look forward to booking with Thrifty whenever I return to Phoenix.

Would give 0 stars if possible. The worst experience i have ever had. They will take your money any chance they get. Our estimated price more than doubled after drop off. Insane

Gave us the wrong car. We rented an suv online after crossing the country with 3 kids late at night they said they didn’t have our car ready so gave us an electric hatchback and tried to charge extra!
Not reasonable, manager was so rude to the whole family & the car was not reliable whatsoever. Good stuff Thrifty, way to go.

Bad experience. I pre-booked when I was in Brazil and had already paid part of it. But the deposit for withdrawal doesn't work on their machine because there is cardboard covering the keyboard, so you can't enter a password, I tried to make the withdrawal with ALL my international cards, but as their machine doesn't have the option to typing password, it appeared as denied. However, the purchase appeared as approved on my bank's APP (2x), but the attendant continued saying that the transaction was not completed and could not release the car (I will still have to wait for the actual refund of these 2 debits). I gave up on taking the car and went to the hotel as I was already exhausted. At the hotel, the same card that had been refused at the rental office was accepted smoothly and immediately, the hotel machine has a keyboard to enter the password. I honestly think that this rental machine without the option to enter the password is a scam! Run away! Now I will have the headache of trying to refund the pre-booking.

The worst possible car rental place to use. Go directly to them they are scandalous. So I used priceline.vom. They still are scandalous. Protect everything...all evidence, info, pictures, gas receipts, car wash receipt, file a BBB complaint like I am going to do. They will over charge for nothing...air for breathing. It's outrageous. DO NOT ? TRUST them. No employee no supervisor and the manager in the back. They are liars. The front staff pretends to be helpful but they are NOT. ?
Added after you requested a response...
Send an email to send the entire documents too. You can only add photos, videos etc...but not documents.... whatever.
It's been over 3 weeks . No follow up from Thrifty management or anyone. Not ? a good place to rent a car.

Believe all of the negative reviews. I'll keep it brief. Original price I agreed to pay-$30. Insurance cost-$12. Taxes-$23. Final price paid-A little over $100. That's 0ver 60% more than anticipated.
The rental agreement mentioned a fuel surcharge that would be priced "per gallon of fuel" utilized. Well, I rented an EV, and drove it 150 miles. I assumed, since it was an EV, that they would not charge to refuel it...ya know...SINCE IT DOES NOT TAKE FUEL, but I was wrong.
If they expect you to recharge the car, that should be indicated in the rental agreement. I would understand if the car took gas, but not in the case of it being an EV. Furthermore, if they expect you to recharge the car, then they should change the rental agreement to include charging costs in appropriate units of measurement, not simply in "gallons of fuel." The "fuel surcharge" was literally more than the cost to RENT THE CAR.
And if they claim that the electricity to charge this car costs almost $50, then how is it cheaper to own an EV than a car that takes traditional gasoline? That would be $1500 per month, in a 30-day month.
Last thing-the car cost $30 per day to rent. The tax to rent the car was $23. That's a 76.7% tax. PARDON ME? Never renting here again, and I'd advise you to do the same.
If you want any type of resolution, I strongly recommend filing a complain with the BBB, which I am doing as we speak.

Unless you enjoy paying for services you didn’t accept don’t use Thrifty.
And if you do make sure that they actually take off the services you don’t want.
My wife and I rented a car from them and told the person at the desk we did not want the extra protection services for the vehicle. They advised us that they were automatically applied and had to be taken off. So we had to sign at the bottom to accept the liability, which we did, and a week later we were charged for the extra services anyway.
I contacted customer service and they said there was nothing they could do.
Avoid them at all costs.
