I have had three dogs trained by Kristi and her team and there is no one else that I would trust my dogs to for training and care when they are puppies. My dogs absolutely love going there as it was built with dogs in mind. The entire staff is loving and knows how to care for the dogs. One of my dogs is trained to help me as I am deaf, and I don’t know what I would do without him. I have continued to rely on Kristi and her team for help over 11 years and they are definitely the best. I have recommended them to several of my friends who have felt the same way. Thank you to the whole team and especially Kristi.

We cannot say enough amazing things about Kristi and her staff! Without their training and guidance Beacon, our beloved pup, would not be the same. Best money we ever spent was investing in Beacon’s training with this team. Beacon gets compliments from strangers all the time on how well behaved he is, something we cannot take credit for. The group classes are such a value to be able to continue training with real life distractions of other dogs and groups of people. Beacon absolutely loves the staff and has the best time while boarding, puts our minds at ease knowing he is not only somewhere safe but also having fun! There is no one else we would trust our pup with.

We feel incredibly blessed to have found Kristi and Dog Trainer US. She has trained 2 of our dogs at her bootcamp and the training we have received has been outstanding... well beyond our expectations. All the bad puppy habits are gone but the confidence, enthusiasm and personality remain. Kristi is extremely knowledgable and is gifted in her field. Her group classes are so much fun, well run and very accessible. She is incredibly generous with the way in which she offers continuing training after the more formal initial training. It is so worth it!! I have gone on to train one dog in bird hunting and the other in agility and because of this initial training all other training in hunting and agility has been a breeze. All of her on site trainers are friendly, professional and outstanding in the field as well. I can not recommend her more highly!! Thank you Dog Trainer US

I hate to say it, but Kristie doesn’t take good care of the dogs (and didnt fix anything when brought to her attention), and employees unfortunately consistently have the E-collars turned up too high, causing dogs to yelp in pain often (2-5x a day). One employee even sent a dog to a hospital by over-tightening a grooming noose. Kristies dogs got in fights often and I ended up getting bit three times in a month working here by her Belgians. Kristie spends close to no time training any dogs, and her bloodhound Amtrak would jump on employees, knocking some of them over.

Harley and I joined Dog Trainer U.S. in 2020. I'm happy to share how far Harley and I have come since then.
We have passed all three canine good citizens tests as well as the PAT test (Public Access test).
Through boot camp, private sessions and group classes with Kristi Smith and her amazing trainers, Harley and I have learned and accomplished many skills.
My experience with Dog Trainer U.S. has and continues to be phenomenal.
If you are looking for the best of the best training for you and your pups I highly recommend.

I am a veterinarian. I met Kristi Smith 16 years ago at a state veterinary conference. I have used her training services to train 5 dogs. She is a terrific trainer. She is very patient with the dogs and the owners. I have referred her hundreds of clients over the years. She offers a wide variety of services, from private training to group classes, all over town, as well as Boot camps. Kristi has also helped us to teach our dogs how to do agility as well as Search and Rescue. Kristi has a tremendous amount of experience and she is a Certified Veterinary Technician. She helps clients with medical information, but she is also quick to refer them back to their veterinarian. I would trust my dog into Kristi's care. Last summer she was willing to take care of our female lab and her 10 puppies for 3 weeks. She and her trainers transitioned the pups to solid food and helped us to socialized the puppies. She is the person whose number I reach for when people ask me for a great trainer.

In July of 2023 I adopted a 7-week-old Sheepadoodle named Ozzie. I never had a dog and didn't have much of a clue in training him. After numerous phone interviews and house visits by several dog trainers I went with Kristi at Dog Trainer US. I started with the training when Ozzie was about 3 1/2 months old, and all was going well. Just a reminder, I soon realized that I had a lot to learn myself and I am still learning. In about January of this year, 2024, Ozzie was now an 8-month-old adolescent, LOL, and I realized that Ozzie needed some extra attention, so he attended an in-house training boot camp, not for any aggression issues but more of an over behavioral issue and that he needed to learn more socialization skills around other dogs. After I got Ozzie back from boot camp and attended some group training it was like night and day with him. Ozzie is doing so much better and again I am learning as well as he and I go on this journey together. I want to thank Kristi and all the trainers at Dog Trainer US. I highly recommend them for your training needs.

1 star only because wesley and september are wonderful..however the professional back end of the business is very unprofessional!! This company offers a service they do not intend to provide. I was provided a contract that said unlimited privates and group trainings for the duration of the dogs life. The first month the privates were wonderful, consistent scheduling and communication. After that it kept getting more and more sparse, to the point that scheduling was impossible as Kristi the owner would only offer random times and days vs a consistent schedule like every other business and like she did at the beginning. Her timely communcations grew weeks out when I would reach out asking for a private. She was clearly trying to push me towards group as she doesnt make as much money, my dog and myself unfortunately tried several group trainings and my dog and I were not ready to be immersed into a group of 15+ dogs as I dont have your typical breed of dog. I eventually asked if we could work on a partial refund as 10 thousand dollars for only a few private sessions and three group sessions when a contract stated unlimited privates is thievery. She refused to try to work with, she also refused to abide by the orignal contract but instead tried to get me to sign a new contract, which would void out the original contract. The new contract stated limited privates through June. I am so disappointed in this experience and the lack of honesty in her business.

We were struggling to enjoy life with our ill mannered, wild puppy. We sent him to boot camp and now we all enjoy having him in our lives, thanks to Dog Trainer US. We also really enjoy bringing him to the group classes to keep up with training.

Dog Trainer US has trained 5 of my dogs. I am very impressed and pleased with the results and impressed with how my dogs understand what I am asking them to do. Today, I attended a “tricks” class! The dogs learned how to spin, bow, and to sit pretty! Kristi & Wesley have vast knowledge about dogs and dog training and the classes at this center are well worth the investment!Sincerely,Christine Contreras

3 1/2 years ago I brought my highly reactive 11 month old mixed breed boy to Kristi & staff and said, "help". And help they did. After 18 months I had a well trained Service Dog that made it possible for me to become independant again. He now is 4 1/2 & thanks to Dog Trainer Us is a very well behaved Service Dog that I am so proud of. Kristi & her staff were there to teach, guide, support & ensure my dog & I received the highest standard of Service Dog training. Kristi is so dedicated she came to my work place to assist in helping my dog work through a challenge in the work place. She is truly the "Dog Whisperer"! Dog Trainer US is the best! I have been able to enjoy my dogs somuch more since working with DTUS! I especially love Wesley who worked with us in our home until we were ready to attend class. Wesley and Nancy even traveled to San Diego to work with me and my dogs at the dog beach which was so special!! I can now take them anywhere and enjoy them with so much less stress.

Dog Trainer US is an amazing dog training company. Our puppy stayed with them for three months and came back to us with so many amazing learned behaviors as well as commands to help us communicate with him effectively. Our dog, Nox, is a therapy dog at my wife’s work using all the skills he learned through Dog Trainer US. The best part? Regular free training classes for us to continue skill building!
