Fantastic escape.Wow, what a great campground. From Richard, the very friendly and knowledgeable host, to the scenery and being close to lots of things, it's just perfect. There were some loud campers during the weekend, but being so close to Tucson, I expected as much. Great Place.

Gorgeous spot, the drive up from Tucson is magical! You round a bend with rocks and desert all around, then suddenly … boom Pine Forest. Bullfrog tadpoles were all over in Rose Canton Lake. Found a patch of snow at the top of the mountain in early May. Never thought that would happen in Arizona.

This is a fun and beautiful campground! Unfortunately our experience was not great because of some very aggressive campground hosts. We reserved 5 camping spaces, and were told 2 vehicles were allowed per camping spot. The first day we arrived, there was no issue at all. The second day, a very aggressive lady named Laurie came onto our campground demanding that we pay day rates for any additional vehicles over 5 (1 per camp site). We were a bit confused and taken back by the aggressive manner in which she approached us, accusing us of trying to “break the rules”, etc. She called the sheriff to intervene after we stated what we were told and didn’t just hand over the extra money for the few additional vehicles that we had parked while we camped. At one point, one of the families leaving pulled their vehicle close to the campground to load their supplies as they were leaving, and she followed the vehicle in and called the sheriff again stating that we were breaking the rules, when we were told by a different host we could pull a vehicle in to load up our supplies. (They were pulled in for no more than 5 minutes before being aggressively approached by Laurie, and having the sheriff called again). It was all very confusing, and their “rules” changed depending on the day and host that was there that day. If you question what they say, they call the sheriff immediately.Anyways, I wouldn’t camp here with families or children. It was scary how Laurie approached our campsite- no introduction or anything just straight aggressive and rude from the first thing to come out of her mouth.Hopefully this company can facilitate some communication training for their employees, and help their employees all get on the same page so it isn’t so confusing to campers. By reading others’ reviews, we aren’t the only ones who have had a poor experience with the Vista management company (and specifically Laurie).

Kind of ridiculous that they charge extra for another vehicle but the camp ground was nice. They have a storage container for your food, I froze almost to death so make sure you bring warm clothes and blanket for the night. The bathroom was close to the campsite, and it has spectacular views.

THE CAMP HOSTS CARLOS (assistant manager) AND LAURIE ARE ABSOLUTELY HORRID.(2 stars for the lovely campsite/lake, 0 for the hosts)The harassment my family and I received while camping was unreal. If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing camping getaway, do not go to Rose Canyon Campground. These hosts will harrass you non stop from the time you arrive until the time you leave. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a host named Tyler. He was very welcoming, friendly and had a little dog with him. Told us our cars were fine as they were, we need not pay any extra fees, and to enjoy our time. The next day, we were approached by Laurie. She zoomed in on her golf cart and immediately started ordering us to pay for extra fees (after previous host told us we did not have to pay), move our cars, and demanding dogs to be leashed (even when another host did not have their dog on leash). She didn’t even introduce herself or say so much as “hi” prior to STOMPING around our campsite, demanding things. We did put dogs on leashes and moved our cars, but did not agree with paying for extra vehicles as the sign at the entrance stated you can have ANY 2 VEHICLES per campsite, which was reiterated by the initial host who welcomed us. At one point, Laurie addressed CHILDREN and adults at our campsite with the same attitude, literally YELLING at them etc. We were also approached by Carlos immediately after Laurie left - demanding much of the same (also without introducing himself), threatening to call the sheriff on us for loading a vehicle nearby the campsite. We were threatened with a sheriff call multiple times during our approx. 72hr camping trip. The sheriff was called at one point and even she recommend we get the hosts names offline (as they would not share their names with us) and file a complaint. The actual manager was unavailable during our entire stay (supposedly-this is what Carlos told us). Laurie waited and watched us pack our stuff on the day of departure - I assume ready and waiting to call the sheriff if we went one minute past check out time. Both of these hosts have absolutely NO customer service at all - to say the least, they are terrible people and I hope their contract is cancelled soon so that people can enjoy Rose Canyon Campground without receiving constant harrassment. It is extremely disappointing to plan a camping trip to see family, some you haven’t seen in years and some whom it could be their last family camping trip, only to receive this atrocious treatment. It is a lovely campground but the camp hosts are repellent.

Camping at its finest.Peaceful, quiet. Actual space between campsites. Cold at night, even in June. Can't kayak on the lake, or swim but it's still worth the trip.Truly amazing

We've been coming to the camp for over 20 years! It's wonderful, but this last time was different. We usually take our small RV and have been allowed to stay at any open site as long as the RV fits well. We went there for 7 days, and parked at our favorite site we usually get. After 4 days of staying, we had a very rude, cranky lady drive up fast in her golf cart and got out and told us we couldn't park our RV there!?! I was very confused. When I checked in at the booth, I was told this was a great site for the RV. I told her I was not moving and had been there for 4 days already and was told this site was fine. She mentioned that they had new management and RVs are only allowed in the RV loops. Never in my 20 plus years of staying there, this has not been a rule! There are very few RV sites and most of them are reserved. Beware of cranky lady named Lorie. And wanted to warn and share to anyone taking an RV up there. If the RV sites are taken you will be send away.

Absolutely beautiful here! Tough if you're not in shape lugging camping gear up and down the hill.

This is a great park. It is full of natural beauty. The respite from AZ’s heat was such a nice break. There is hiking, fishing, camping, and day use available here. The family would love it.

We went camping last weekend and it just doesn’t seem as nice with the new hosts here. I noticed Shayne and Vikki aren’t here this year and now it’s run down. The bathrooms need better tending. Toilet paper was out or low and nasty. The camp sites were ok. Over grown limbs over some sites making RV camping difficult. The roads are washed out. I know Shayne used to fill in road ruts so you don’t bottom out. Vikki used to keep popsicles for my kids that would go around and help pick up trash. They always looked forward to that. Now that’s gone. I want them back soon!

Just a quick stop and rest break before heading back down to Tucson from visiting Mt. Lemmon for the day. The drive into the campground and lake is beautiful. The facilities looked clean and inviting. We stopped for 30 minutes to stretch our legs and get some snacks and drinks we packed. The camp site we used was neat and tidy. We plan on a return visit this year to camp.

While we had a really nice time at Rose Canyon Campground, we are disappointed in the way our friend Linda Molina was treated by the campground ranger Shane at the booth/kiosk. We are giving our review because on September 23, 2022, they falsely accused her of not showing her hangtag with the Senior Annual Pass to Shane, when in fact we observed her showing him the tag, as we were sitting in our car behind Linda Molina. Our friend is avid long-time camper who is very honest and does not deserve to be treated this way.

Love staying here! Not only is it’s beautiful but a very clean and well kept area. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the restrooms and recreational area. The camp host Vikki and Shane are very attentive and informative. We got the late and it was dark Vikki was kind enough to guide us to a free spot. They helped us get our trailer in the best position and made sure we had plenty of firewood to keep warm! Next morning they checked and us and we realized we didn’t have paper towels, Viking saved the day by giving us a roll…We appreciate the hospitality! Thank you!!

While the campground itself was clean, the service was horrible. Upon arrival, we started setting up camp at an empty spot that was not reserved until several days later soon after, the park ranger, a heavy set man with glasses, began screaming at us for being in the spot. He would not listen to the fact that the campsite we choose was open that night and was extremely disrespectful.
