Overall this was a good experience! I want to echo one of the other reviewers who said to make sure you are passionate and have some knowledge about astronomy prior to going. I still had a good time despite my relatively little knowledge on the subject, but we found that some of the more knowledgeable individuals in our group spent a lot of time asking questions which took up a lot of time and slowed the process. As noted it’s quite cold, bring many layers!! The wine chill is sneaky and not moving much in the observatory itself means a very chilly night, we very much appreciated the warm room. All of this is to say we did have a really nice time, but it is a pretty big commitment for sure.

This is a great program with very real, scientific information. If you are looking for a quick peek at stars, this is not for you. It is an investment in time, but for my daughter and I, it was so worth it. We saw Saturn and Jupiter through the largest telescope available to civilians. We saw nebulas and star clusters. We saw the milky way and the Andromeda galaxy, and shooting stars! It was a wonderful experience. Tracie and Jeronimo were amazing tour guides. And although dinner is just sandwiches, they were very good sandwiches and plenty of food for the evening. We plan to come back when we are in the area and bring my husband! So cool! Literally. Bring layers of clothing!

We joined their 5-hr education program which gave us wonderful opportunities to view the green flare of sunset, the star clusters, Saturn, Jupiter and the moon through gigantic telescopes. What you see varies day to day depending on the weather. Check out their website. Very nice staff. Tracie and Michael were fantastic guides. They took very good care of us in addition to giving us fabulous explanations of everything. Bring BIG jackets with you!!

We had an awesome time! It wasn't too cold but we were prepared for snow weather so we were comfy. :) It felt casual and fun and the dinner was great. Yummy sandwiches.

DISCLAIMER - Make sure you’re really passionate about astronomy before going.Guides were very knowledgeable but the info was pretty dry. Don’t get me wrong it’s interesting, but it felt more like a lecture vs an experience. This tour felt redundant and probably could’ve been condensed to 2.5 hrs.A lot of introductory stuff, loading up & going back and forth in the vans—much of it feltunnecessary. As far as the stars and the views, they’re beautiful—even the drive up. As far as the telescope, don’t expect to see anything crazy or super HD like you’d expect from NASA or super enhanced pics on the internet. Seeing Saturn was probably the coolest, but even then, it’s nothing too crazy. I also wish groups were smaller.I don’t speak for everyone but I’m a visual learner & I also like to be hands on. I wish it was more engaging for the time they kept us there. It’s cold up there, especially with wind, so dress warm.

Tour and stargazing was great. Will and Vanessa led our session were very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I enjoyed the classroom tour of the solar system as much as the amazing views of galaxies and nebulae through the 32” telescope. It was a long program, and plenty cold up there so be prepared! I highly recommend a visit when you’re in Tucson ?

The group was too large and took long time to look in telescopes. Left no time to ask questions about what you were seeing. On a positive note the talks and video presentations were very good. And they have a warming room in the telescopes building, which was needed when we went. On a sad note, people in our group took a sack lunch that they didn't order. So I was not able to eat what I had requested and paid for.

The entire tour and staff were spectacular; this truly is something special. The staff provided an amazing opportunity for star gazing. Make sure to call ahead for weather conditions, as it can be quite cold. Hence, you need to plan ahead and dress accordingly.

as a valentine's day gift my girlfriend took me on a tour here. it turned out to be too cloudy to get very many good sightings, but our guide Will was so knowledgeable and fun that we still had an awesome time and learned a lot about space.

The tour and astronomy exhibition are absolutely worth your time. It's one of the only places in the world where amateurs can look through a professional telescope. If you have any interest in astronomy at all, do this. It is colder than you think so dress in layers.

Will and Ulysses wear our guides for an absolute amazing visit to view the stars!! They were both so knowledgeable and helpful, and had great senses of humor. This is the third time for me and I will keep going! I learn new things every time! A stellar night for the books!!
