I'm giving it one star for their donations section, I would do 5 stars for the organization itself, Your donation section sucks, make sure if you're donating it's perfect condition stuff because they will cherry pick and leave you with a lot of your unwanted stuff That you will have to take to goodwill

Attempted to donate clothing items that are new with tags and known brands like Izod, Haggar etc , collectibles, and media new and never opened. I took the time to explain we were in a gated community and how to call on the call box so I could open the gate and even gave instructions where to go once in our park. Was told they would not do steps, so got up at 6:00 in the morning and carried everything down to the street level so it would be a quick pickup for them - in all 14 boxes, 3 large trash bags of clothing. I marked all the boxes with the contents and for the collectibles individually marked each box so they could take them to the boutique. I was told that the items would be picked up between 8 and 4. At 5 minutes to four I called since no one showed up and I had not gotten any messages. I was told they tried to call my number but could not locate me. They did not read the instructions to call from the call box so could not get in. So in the heat, I had to bring everything back up the steps and back to the house. I am almost 80 so it was not easy. I am angry and so sad that I spent my time and effort thinking I would be able to help the children with my donations and the adults at this facility couldn't even bother to leave a message on my phone that they were not coming.

Great deals on used books. Nice finds and very reasonable prices. Proceeds go to local children's orphanage.

Didn't bother with the heavy stuff. Took the custom bed frames and left the brand new mattresses. They were supposed to text us before pickup but they sent the text over 5 hours after pickup. This company does not care about the kids. It's all BS! Frustrated!!!!!

A lot of these reviews are aimed at the thrift store part of Sunshine Acres. While i can’t say that people did or didn’t experience what they claim, I will say that the prices are reasonable for what they are getting. Not only that, all proceeds are spent towards the cause. The children are very well taking care of there and LOVED. This is not your average “Orphanage”. They gain a family here and are given the opportunity to have many if not all the things that other children on the outside have. Sure, not all children like it because many don’t like having boundaries or rules because they didn’t have them prior to arriving. Most love it there and don’t want to leave. You don’t have to take my word for it, take the time to volunteer and see for yourself. Meet the children of Sunshine Acres!

I just had the most moving experience taking a tour at Sunshine Acres-the “miracle in the desert”. This place is amazing, inspiring and fills me with hope. If you can take a tour, I highly recommend it. They have a thrift store and a boutique. Sales from them help fund things here. Roni gave us the best tour. If you need a good place to donate items, I would consider donating here. Not only are their basic needs met, they are given structure and guidance. They have chores. And they are shown love.

Picked up a nice taller bike for my son today. Also found some unique items for myself. A lot to always see.

While I feel this charitable organization is a worthy one I experienced horrible service when trying to use their donation pick-up service. We we're told we would receive a call when their truck was in route to my 94 year old Mother's home which I did AFTER they had already arrived where they left a "Sorry we missed you" tag on her vacant cottage doorstep. I rescheduled pickup for following week and was at cottage and did receive "call" which is actually a text message and watched as the truck sped by her cottage and exited the campus. I called and was told pickup was rescheduled for their end of route pickup and was assured I would receive "call" when in route, but did not. Found another tag on cottage door. Needless to say we are paying another company to remove her very nice furniture no longer needed. Very poor customer service! I would not recommend this organization for donation pickups Which is sad because no other organization in the Phoenix Valley picks up inside the residence.

The prices at Sunshine Acres have more than doubled! Most items were marked at full retail price and some items marked more than retail price! Customer service was awful. I've never had an issue with the other location on Higley, but I will definitely not be returning to this location.

I recently had purchased the lighting fixture that was purchased in a box that was unopened by me. It had been taped up either by the store that it originally came from or by Sunshine acres. I'm assuming it was a donation from a local hardware store since they had a bunch of other boxed lighting fixtures. I did not know they had a no return policy. I had the receipt and they would not honor it. They would not even give me store credit. So, I just left it with them as a loss to me. I realize the thrift store helps out the kid's home but it's unreasonable not to allow for a return or exchange on an item that was clearly in the same condition I bought it in. I used to find value here but lately the items have been overpriced for the condition they are in. This was the event that determined I will support other causes and shop at other stores. Wish they handled the situation differently, but it was their choice.

This is a great place to find great deals on furniture if one is looking. Alot of other things to look at as well. Always like to go and see .
