Sack lunches are about 25% edible -- obvious favouritism played with high quality products, presumably saved for workers and tenants only. Food box can be good but also served lots of low quality products. You will rejoice on the rare occasion you get a candy bar in either one. Most of the bread tastes like plastic and armpits.

My experience with the Salvation Army has unfortunately been far from satisfactory, prompting me to provide a one-star review as a Google Guide. While I understand that charities play a crucial role in helping those in need, my encounters with the Salvation Army have left me frustrated and bewildered by the unnecessary hurdles and lack of streamlined communication.
One of the primary issues I encountered was the convoluted process that individuals seeking assistance must navigate. It seems counterintuitive for a charitable organization to impose multiple hoops for those in need to jump through. Instead of providing a seamless and supportive experience, the Salvation Army's procedures often create unnecessary obstacles, making it challenging for individuals already facing difficult circumstances.
Communication breakdowns only exacerbated my frustration. Calling the Salvation Army should be a straightforward way to connect with the assistance one requires, but my experience has been quite the opposite. On more than one occasion, I found myself transferred from one office to another, only to be told that the person I needed to speak to was in a different department or unavailable. This lack of clarity and efficiency in communication creates a disheartening experience for those reaching out for help.
One notable issue is the challenge of getting in touch with the right office. It's disheartening to call a seemingly central number, only to be redirected multiple times, each time hoping to finally connect with the right person who can address your needs. This process can be time-consuming and emotionally draining, particularly for individuals who are already dealing with hardships. A more streamlined and accessible system for connecting those in need with the appropriate resources would undoubtedly enhance the Salvation Army's effectiveness and reputation.
Furthermore, the inconsistency in the information provided by different offices is perplexing. It's disconcerting to receive conflicting details about the assistance available or the application process, leaving individuals uncertain about the support they can expect. A lack of standardized information contributes to confusion and frustration, undermining the trust that people place in charitable organizations.
While I recognize the challenges that charities like the Salvation Army face in managing high volumes of inquiries and requests for assistance, it is imperative that they prioritize improving their communication systems and simplifying the process for those seeking help. The very essence of a charitable organization should be to alleviate the burdens of those in need, not add to their challenges through bureaucratic hurdles and unclear communication.
In conclusion, my experience with the Salvation Army has been marked by frustration and disappointment. The disconnect between the organization's mission to help people and the cumbersome process individuals must endure to access that help is a significant issue. I hope that the Salvation Army takes these concerns seriously and works towards creating a more user-friendly, empathetic, and efficient system that truly reflects the spirit of charitable giving and support for those facing adversity.

I love ❤️ the Salvation Army. They have a heart for people. I had a need one time , and they helped me. Yes , I now try to do something nice for other people in need. I want to be a better person. Give of myself of what I can do. It’s not much, but sometimes little things can mean a lot. Godbless the Savation Army , and the work they do for others . I am humble to them . Amen ?

What Salvatiom army does is great! But I have to say that the people that work there the ones that I came into contact with were very rude and I was being very polite. And I have a family of seven and I just feel that if you’re going to give someone certain items, then you should give everybody those certain items not just wait until your friend comes in to give them. Better items I should say… but I get it you know you want to make your friends feel good because of your friend but just remember that there’s a lot of people in these situations and you should be a friend to everybody!

A month ago I was doing badly without food, a mother of a 9-month-old baby and pregnant and without a car, a volunteer was going to give me a box of food and the one who speaks English, the one from number 1, behaved badly, made me waste time and racism and didn't let me. He gave nothing, I returned home crying, I didn't even have enough for my daughter's milk and I hadn't eaten anything???I felt worse than I already felt.

Ordinarily, the Salvation Army is a place for those who have less than others to find a helping hand that will assist them in navigating whatever troubles they're facing. Ordinarily. This location is roughly 2 or so miles from the light rail; however, the flyer that I received incorrectly placed it at the corner of a major intersection. When walking in the desert sun, the 2 to 3 blocks really do make a difference. The actual facility itself is relatively large; upon arriving, I was given instructions from one of the employees to gakeba number & await an intake evaluation by one of the outreach specialists. Yet again, the flyer I was given incorrectly tabbed this facility as a place for job assistance, which I came to discover was not available through the Salvation Army during my intake. The intake itself was mildly frustrating. I laid out my purpose for seeking assistance, my current financial status, or lack thereof, & the goals I am looking to accomplish while in Arizona. The frustrating part came when I attempted to add to the dialogue between the intake specialist and me. I got the feeling that everything I said was wrong due to the fact that every addition that I made to the conversation was immediately dismissed & contradicted. I was also upsold, albeit unsuccessfully, on visiting Community Bridges to see if I could join those elite, selected few that would receive a 90-day hotel voucher, which, in all honesty, immediately peaked my interest. However, I definitely knew better. The Phoenix metropolitan area community outreach workers love to make empty promises to get you through the door only to renege & offer you much less upon arrival. The primary reason behind my 1-star review is the stance this Salvation Army takes on food. Again referencing the flyer, it specifically said that food boxes were available, a fact the intake specialist confirmed. Upon further inquiry, however, I was denied a food box due to my current economic status (I was too poor to be eligible for a food box). I was instead offered a lunch bag to go. After walking 2 miles with all my personal belongings in the summer desert sun on the heels of eating only saltine crackers for 2 weeks prior, I simply said "thank you" & left without taking the lunch sack. The entire situation could have been handled much differently, but to be denied food because I was too impoverished & then offered crumbs as a consolation was enough for me to just walk away. Overall, this place is not the best place to go if you're of African descent. Mesa has many shortcomings & this is just another example. There are other locations that value not only you & will feed you like a human being but will also treat you in a respectful manner. As you can see from my other reviews, I have not had the most pleasant experiences lately. However! At great personal risk to myself, I write these reviews based on my experiences so that others will benefit from the experiences that I have. I encourage others to SPEAK UP! Your voice can assist others in avoiding potentially detrimental situations, & as always, do your own research!

I had been going through a really rough time, lost job, eviction, experienced homelessness all while I was pregnant and when I had my son almost a month early my significant other & myself had just spent every last penny on the move in costs to get into our apartment before my son was born so when he has to stay in the NICU I had absolutely no way to get to and from the hospital. I called the Salvation Army Mesa and within minutes they said if I could get there in my car they would help me out with gas. So I figured they had like a $40’gas card-nope they had me fill out a forum and then fallowed me to the closest Circle K and completely filled up my tank, I almost cried. I was able to visit my son everyday until he was able to come home. None of that would have been possible if they didn’t help me-so grateful, thanks again!!

Way over priced, they are a non profit, I remember when books that they would sell where like 10 for $1, and well I don't have to $1 anything...yeah right you better or they will call the cops! The employees if thay think that you are stealing, getting, taking things without paying(checking out) I figured this out I do not have to!
