I am not going back there.
My dog Suzy has been a patient at the Mesa location for many years. She developed an abscess that grew very fast and I needed to get her scheduled for an emergency visit. I called in to get an appointment as soon as we were able to get back home from our roadtrip just to learn that my house vet did not have any availability for my dog until two weeks out. With an abscess growth to a baseball size within a weeks time I did not think I could wait another two weeks to get it handled. I voiced my concern and was told that I could call in early in the morning of each day to see if they had a cancellation. I was disappointed and upset. My loyalty to stay with family vet care of Mesa has been shattered. Since we were traveling and I could not get my house vet to see my dog I went to a local vet in Page, AZ. We were desperate and just popped into that one and only local vet office in the late afternoon praying they would take my dog in to understand what was going on. The staff was just wonderful in taking care of Suzy. From the sweet lady at the reception , the technicians and two veterinarians, everyone was caring and attentive. Dr. Roundtree and his staff handled the abscess surgery and he personally explained the after care and medication plan. He took his time to explain and help us get supplies for the aftercare since we were on the road. I am so thankful to have found him. For the aftercare visits when we are back home ( drainage removal and suture removal) I will find another small clinic where I hopefully feel as taken care of as with this country doc Dr. Roundtree in Page, AZ.

Edit:
Since writing this review (and receiving a prompt response from the Medical Director), all of my issues were dealt with and I've received top notch care from everyone at the clinic.
Some notes (1) the ultrasound doctor and her veterinary technician were likely responsible for the nick of Spirit's tummy (2) due to the issue of the prescription not going through for the steroids I received two complementary steroid injections (3) the vet now performs most procedures in the exam room and (4) I feel like I wait shorter times to be seen upon arrival.
Family VetCare has my highest recommendation! Thanks so much for your care and attention ? it means so much to me and my cats.
Original review below:
Dr. Zenk is a good vet, knowledgeable and kind/caring. She knows her stuff, and was able to diagnose my ailing cat. She also provides different options and understands that costs can be high so makes sure you know what is priority to have done if you don't have the funds for more expensive procedures.
The clinic overall needs work in some areas. For example, my cat's prescription wasn't sent in (after one week since approved by the doctor) and they nicked his tummy during shaving for his ultrasound and it's now probably infected. It also took awhile to approve his prescription diet food.
I also don't love how they take the patient to the back and don't do anything in the exam room. Plus, I always have to wait a long time before being seen despite making an appointment and being on time.
I don't know how to feel, the service is sometimes pretty good but other times I don't like the treatment. I think they are understaffed or overbooked or both.
They are pretty responsive with calls and texts though, and I appreciate that. I wish they could get back to me sooner sometimes but I also know they are busy.

My dog had her wellness exam and all but one vaccine in February 2024. She was not due for her bordetella (kennel cough) vaccine until September. I had made sure to confirm that she would be able to receive that vaccine as a tech visit in September. They never documented this in her chart and now demand that she have another full exam in order to get the kennel cough vaccine. Had I not moved, she’d be going back to her former vet. This policy is unfair to those that have a vaccine schedule that is spread out (which was recommended by a vet who didn’t over charge clients).
This complaint is not only about pricing policies, but the fact that they did not document the instructions in her chart. ANY MEDICAL PROVIDER THAT DOES NOT DOCUMENT IS UNTRUSTWORTHY.

Very friendly staff here. Maybe I'm out of the loop, but it does seem to be on the pricier side. We had a parasite fecal test performed thru this clinic for our dog, and they transposed the number in my contact info, sending the results to a random number. She tested negative, thankfully, but had it been a more time sensitive, emergency type test, I would never have known unless I called like I did today. That's a bit unnerving and I hope they are better on that. People make mistakes but the thought did dawn on me.

Amazing staff, they treat everyone and every pet with care and compassion. Been with this group for 3 years, ever since I adopted my 2 fur-babies... they are super great especially with difficult patients like one of my pups. He is very skittish when his paws are touched and when his nails need to be clipped, these girls are so amazing with him. So LOVE this Vet center!!!!

So far I am very happy with this vet! They are super informative and transparent. I had bad experiences with my previous vet and very glad I made a switch. They got me in same day and they even told me up front I could get the medication anywhere. My former vet failed to mention this to me and sold me medicine and even over the counter stuff at extreme markups. I appreciate the transparency

Everyone here has been truly amazing. I was at a new level of hot mess the day they squeezed Lizzie in for an appointment to look at her swollen nose. This was my first time at this office and I was a nervous wreck. They were clear and concise with the issues, they did exceptionally well during the emotional times, they showed tons of sympathy and empathy while still getting the information across. I feel bad for forgetting her name right now, but I am so thankful and appreciative for the tech that helped Lizzie and I through this. Her knowledge, personality, and demeanor made me much more secure in the process. Nora and the tech I mentioned above are the real MVP's. I highly recommend this vet. My family has been coming here for years, I've referred 2 of my friends here, it's been nothing but positive feedback. Thank you everybody!

I have a golden doodle that had FoxTails in his paws. I had gone to a different vet who wanted to charge me over $1000 to put him into surgery plus didn’t really even examine him truly. The ladies at vet care were very attentive and did an amazing job. my dog is very gentle and didn’t have to be put into surgery, on top of saving me over a $1000 on the bill for treatment. So happy I came here for a second opinion.

Leaving two stars because for the first two-three years I’ve been using them I had no issues . Recently booked two of my four dogs to get anal gland expressions and made current on vaccinations, also one of my dogs needed a negative heartworm test to attend a two week boot camp style training. There was a new tech and she brought a paper with a list of everything being done that day , I said I need a negative heartworm test I don’t want the heartworm treatment, if her test comes back positive then we will do what we need to do , usually they bring back a new paper with what you requested done to sign but she said she understood and had me sign the original paper. Well they gave her the treatment after her test came back negative and never did her anal glands which was one of the three reasons I booked the appointment. Needless to say I had to pay for their mistake , spoke with an office manager named Nicole I believe and she was defensive and condescending, she offered to reimburse for the test but not the treatment, I said the test is what I came in for , she said well they can’t take back the treatment and of course the treatment is much more expensive than the test . I told them the next time I contact them it will be for records of all my dogs to transfer to another vet. It’s sad because they have some good employees but this won’t be tolerated , shouldn’t have to pay for their mistake , I wouldn’t recommend for anyone to bring their pets here.
