We have stayed there plenty of times, it’s the only place to stay if you are out 50 miles in either direction. Went to visit family in Ariviapa, rent a room here first. The rate was $96.00,got a bit of a discount military, this time room 54 had a non working tv, had a bad problem with dust mites on the beds in the blankets. A towel when I went to shower had terrible amount of small bugs on it. Had hung clothes on hangers, and Cynthia’s pants n blouse had also lots of dust mites. Left at 6:00am and parked across the street to buy a change of clothes from the dollar store that opened at 7. It was a very rough night for us.Nearby activities: Food store close by and other stores as well.

Overall it's a decent place but it's over priced and the ONLY motel in town. People that travel for work in the mines are treated rude and lied to. Their rooms are EMPTY l, parking lot EMPTY but they will tell you they are booked because on weekends they do weddings. Not realizing how much more money they would make renting rooms to the contractors for their full hitches on a regular guaranteed basis versus them not getting contractor money during the week and then getting to charge full price for Two days to drunk people at weddings. It's just disappointing. I had someone steal the food I left in the kitchen and my coffee I bought since they claim to provide it daily but they literally never had any, any of the times I stayed there before having to sleep in a car because their seasonal, temporary guests mean more than people who would practically live there and treat everything as if it were their own. It's the lying that does it for me.Rooms: They are honestly very bigSafety: One morning went to go make my coffee and the courtyard had over 15 javelina running around and smacking into doors because someone left a gate open after a wedding and they didn't know how to get out.Walkability: There is absolutely nothing in this town so you can walk to the family dollar, the grocery store, Ace hardware, the cactus mini mart or this amazing family owned pizza parlor called old time pizza ( I think) and it is an AMAZING pizza parlor. A must try if you do stay at the general.

The rooms were alright, lots of space and pretty clean, just very dated. The main issue I had was the towels had an old smell to them, so made me feel like they weren’t clean. It’s also overpriced for what’s there. There is just a mini fridge and TV that barely picks up 5 channels, doesn’t even have a microwave. It’s in town so at least you can get hot food right down the road, but it’s overpriced pizza so not really worth it when already spending too much for the motel room.I guess they can get away with it because it’s the only motel for 50 miles.Walkability: There’s a Family Dollar, grocery store, and pizza place within walking distance.

So we stayed nearly 6 months for work.I'm usually not a very picky person by any means, so I was fine with most things for the most part. However, given I was expected to live there long term, and with a young toddler, things stood out that I normally would not bat an eye at.So firstly, there are monthly rates that are technically cheaper if you're here for work, but the rates were essentially comparable to renting an entire home. It's especially high if you consider there are no microwaves or coffee pots available, or really any in-room amenities of any kind. Any cooking you need to do has to be done across the courtyard in a shared kitchen, which was tricky with a child who couldn't even walk when we moved in (filthy floors, and having to carry him and the food all that way), and a few older tenants complained to me about having to walk all that way for a microwave. The kitchen is also where the advertised "free complimentary coffee" is located as well, which is just an empty percolator that you can use with your own coffee, I guess? (Gave me a chuckle at least.)The cleanliness is very hit and miss -- we had dirty bedding upon moving in, our friends had garbage all over. The towels are also very old, thin, and should be retired as shop rags. There is coin laundry, I'll give them that, it saved me from having to go to the laundromat across town. Only $2.50 per load, and the office will exchange cash for quarters. The courtyard is pretty nice, it's fully fenced, and you have a giant slider if you're downstairs. You do have to watch out for the wasps in the grass all spring, summer, and fall. (Again, awesome with a toddler.) Don't leave your window/slider open. The broken glass and cigarette butts all over the ground were a nice touch, as were the afternoon drunk old guys in the courtyard who would try to talk to me, and attempt to give candy to said toddler. There were only 4 big events while we were there, but they are definitely a nuisance. If I'd been staying here for a few days for vacation and there had been an event, I would have been very angry. VERY loud music until after midnight, and bright lights blaring in the window that they do not shut off even after the party has left. One event even kicked us long term tenants out for a weekend, leaving us to stay in another hotel nearly an hour away. (The next closest hotel is a nasty little hotel in Superior, we did not stay there.) Can easily ruin your vacation. The upside was how you don't really have to drive anywhere, I would just walk to the grocery store or convenience store to get coffee and food as needed. They are also dog friendly. The staff is also pretty nice, I know they try to make it nice, but it's an old hotel from the 1960s that needs a lot of work.Walkability: You're right in the middle of a teeny town, you don't need your car to get anywhere.

Well. If you like sleeping on plywood, walking on dirt floors, leaving the shower filthier than when you started, and having dead bugs from a windowsill as a midnight snack - this place is for you! Random blankets and bags of rice on the landing outside the rooms, and dirty cast iron pans on tables (is this a homeless camp?)My tent is the Taj Mahal in comparison. If the above is your jam, come on down!Nice views.Walkability: Close to everything, which is really the only thing worth a star.

under new management. Popular hotel for AzTrail and GETrail hikers. rooms are decent size with old sheets and old bedcovers. They have a recycle canister in the room but they throw the recycles into the trash. they have a laundromat and a small kitchen area. Nice central courtyard to hang out.
