RSD sold my contractor a 14 SEER unit, as a 16 SEER unit. I told my contractor I wanted a unit that was 16 SEER or better and multi-stage both for the long term energy savings and in order to qualify for SRPs highest rebate of about $1,200. RSD sold this unit to my contractor telling him it was a 16 SEER and even listed it as a 16 SEER on the purchase order. After it was installed I applied for the rebate with SRP to find out that it was not eligible for any sort of rebate because it was only 14 SEER. I contacted RSD about it and it took multiple calls to finally speak with a manager as the manager would never call me back after one of the employees promised they would have him call me. After finally speaking with the manager he said he would look into it. He never called me back (again) so i had to call him again to follow up. He essentially shifted the blame to the manufacturer for making it confusing for the sales person and that's why they sold it to my contractor as a 16 SEER. He said he didn't want me calling them again and that they would talk to my contractor and have my contractor relay information to me. That really upset me as I don't want to have to go through my contractor as a middle man to communicate with RSD about this major mistake they made. They told my contractor that they will take the unit back and refund me for it but that that's the best they will do. So, that leaves me with the cost of 1) paying a contractor to remove the unit, 2) finding and buying a new 16 SEER, 5 ton gas pack multi-stage unit, 3) since I had to have custom ductwork built under the unit purchased from RSD, there is no 16 SEER multi-stage 5 ton gas pack unit that will fit the custom ductwork so I'd have to pay to have new custom ductwork built for the new unit, and 4) pay to have the new unit installed.I am unwilling to accept that poor resolution as offered by RSD that will leave me paying thousands of dollars more out of pocket. I wish I could simply communicate with RSD about this and come up with a reasonable resolution but, unfortunately, they won't talk to me about it because, in their words, "we have no relationship with you, our relationship is with the contractor. Please don't call us or communicate with us from this point forward" which in my opinion was just a cop-out on the managers part as he didn't want to have to deal with this issue and wanted me to go away. So, I'm forced to resort to google reviews and the Better Business Bureau in hopes to inform others about my experience with RSD and hope that they will do their research on distributors before choosing RSD.
