This place is horrible. The employees are lackadaisical and apathetic. They card all ages for alcohol - and inspect the ID AND scan it. That just makes their disrespectfully slow lanes even slower.
It's expensive. The produce is already overripe.
Just go across the street to Sprouts or one of the other bazillion grocery stores in the area.

Remember to check expiration dates, specifically for grocery items. I have purchased expired products on several occasions only to notice later.
Today it happened again, I smelled the item and noticed it smells stale.. turns out it expired over four months ago. And I paid full retail. It happens so often and when asking employees I am told that they churn through grocery managers so fast that no one is able to keep up with date checking.
This illustrates how Natural Grocers overworks their employees and managers by constantly running skeleton crews, and requiring all employees to also cashier in addition to moonlighting in other departments.
In other words, everything is done half-way but never well enough to be fully functioning. It's this way at other NG locations too.. it's across the board for this company. They pay their employees poorly and expect them to be involved in every aspect of the store. And if you quit working there, don't worry, they'll hold a grudge and excommunicate you from their illustrious majesty.
It's too bad, this company is almost 70 years old and they still can't get their act together. And no, they're not family owned, they are publicly traded. So you're not really supporting local. So much potential wasted on nepotism and self-perceived specialness.
I've been shopping with NG for 30 freaking years.. so I think I'm qualified to rant.

Perfect place to get clean, fresh, organic food. A lot better than sprouts overall in every way!

They have everything here but it is great place for people with special diets. Tons of vegan and gluten-free items that I haven’t been able to find elsewhere. Store is always clean and has a nice relaxed vibe. Staff was helpful and checked in back for an item I wanted more of. I wish I lived closer… this would be my main grocery stop.

They do have lower prices than Sprouts but just like Sprouts, they are also steadily increasing their prices.

We have been shopping here for quite a while now because we love the fresh organic produce, better quality options, and what this store seems to stand for. However, this store has the most unfriendly employees I've ever encountered. Every week it's the same thing. Last week the cashier had the hardest time bagging our stuff. He left too much space in our bags so grabbed a box. Didn't apparently really check the box for sturdiness because when we walked away it broke open and all of our produce ended up on the nasty floor. Another cashier saw what happened and didn't even try to help us pick everything up, get a new box , nothing.. not even a word. It sucks that we want to come here but don't like majority of the employees.

Easily the best grocery store I've shopped in in Arizona. I actually miss it when I'm in CA. Best prices, selection and return policy. I will always be a loyal customer.

Not a ton of options. Some things are cheaper MOST things are more expensive than what I would see in a normal grocery store. 9 bucks out the door for an evol single microwave lunch. That’s absolutely ridiculous. I may as well got something fast. Beyond disgusted with the prices of some items.
