Richard McGee is a very nice person but in our case we don't have a very easy return to prepare. Lots of side businesses that each require their own schedule and a lot of CPA expertise. We always overpay during the year so that we always receive a large refund. We didn't worry about meeting the April deadline and told him so. Finally in July, he completed the returns. Our Federal refund was calculated at a mere $200+ dollars. We suspected something was wrong. We decided on a second opinion and the second accountant prepared our taxes with no knowledge of McGee's efforts. The result was a refund of about 15x the original refund. The key here was our depreciation schedules. We offered to obtain them from our retired accountant but McGee said no. Our second opinion accountant said, it's a must. They must have the depreciation schedules. We actually paid both CPAs for their time so experienced a "double hit" this year. We think that maybe he was not looking forward to preparing our return but didn't want to offend us. McGee is ok for less complicated returns. I just wish he'd suggested we go elsewhere instead of preparing our return and missing a lot of deductions.
