TL:DR - DONT do business with Total Rental Center.Wow. Wow. Wow. Needed to rent a compact tractor. Home Depot suggested Total Rental (affiliated with True Value). Called, spoke with Rich, he was informative, polite, professional. We made the reservation last week for pickup today. called yesterday to confirm. Spoke with John. Yup, we’re good to go. Husband took a week off from work. Great weather. Had $900 of cinders delivered. Drive in from Williams this morning to pick up. They run our credit card for payment and we go to the back to load the tractor.Nope. Both their John Deere’s are broken. The guys out back blame Rich. Rich blames the guys out back. Clearly they don’t communicate with each other. MAYBE they can have it ready tomorrow. They don’t know. I ask for a discount for our time, trouble, gas, missed work. “NO! We are absolutely not discounting any equipment.”So I ask to speak with the manager. Rich calls Brian, tosses me the phone (literally). Brian identifies as “one of the owners.” I tell him the situation. He says he needs to talk with Rich. He does. I hear everything Rich says. Brian gets back on the phone with me, tells me the equipment was returned yesterday broken (that’s not what Rich or the guys out back said nor is it what Rich told Brian) and there’s no way for them to know when equipment will fail. I said the equipment failing is not the problem. How we’re being treated as customers is the problem. “You’re not doing anything to make this right.” RIch kept interrupting me, “Ma’am. Ma’am. Ma’am. I’m not giving you a discount.” I was stunned that he wouldn’t even cover the cost of gas! This was his company’s screw up. He said, “I don’t control where you live. It’s not my fault you don’t live in town.” Wow. Wow. Wow. Then he told me our reservation is canceled and I don’t need to pick up the tractor tomorrow. What a misogynistic, hellish experience.Anyone got a tractor we can rent for a week or even a few days?

I rented a garden tractor from these guys. I chose them for two reasons: First, this was the only tractor I could find this size which rented with a gannon. The second was (what I thought) was the fantastic rental rate - unfortunately, this was their 3 hour rate - not the daily rate -but that's on me. As it turns out, they charge what everyone else charges - and then some. When you rent a heavier piece of equipment like this, you normally get a trailer with it. Just look at Home Depot, Lowes, or any of the companies that specialize in heavy rental. These guys require you to rent the trailer from them - at about $115 per day additional cost.Another difference between other rental yards and these guys is the fact your 24 hour daily rental only allows you 8 hours on the Hobbs meter. So you get the tractor for a day, but you can only actually run the machine for 8 hours. Also - they charge a "Damage Waiver" fee of $116. It's non refundable, even if you did no damage. Finally, they also charge you up front for 5 gallons of diesel fuel at almost $7 per gallon. They refund you if you bring it back full, but other locations normally only charge you if you bring the equipment back without topping it off.Overall, my experience with these guys felt like they were doing everything they could to nickel and dime me to death. And here's my last observation - one that is obviously purely subjective:I was treated rudely by both employees I dealt with. It felt like they couldn't care less what kind of experience you had or if they earned your future business. The guy who initially rented the tractor to me got so miffed when I questioned the daily rental rate that I literally had to tell him to calm down - it's not worth getting angry. Then he demanded to know where I was taking the tractor? When I asked what difference that makes, he let me know the owners are letting me take a $40,000 piece of equipment and if I steal it, they want to know where to tell the police to start looking. He didn't have much of an answer when I responded, "So if I was going to steal it, you think I'd tell you where I'm taking it?"When I brought it back and didn't get the "Damage Waiver" refunded, some other guy behind the counter talked to me like I was ignorant for expecting a refund since I did no damage. It's like they know deep down they are ripping people off and are ashamed of it - but have to act like you're the idiot and are expecting special treatment.Lesson learned. I won't rent from them again.

Don't waste your time. We rented a lift from this company 2x and both times their equipment needed to be returned. The first lift we rented was leaking hydraulic fluid (at the jobsite) which we needed to clean and our guy got stuck with the lift in the air. Finally, we were able to get it down. The 2nd time we rented a lift (about a month later) the controls in the bucket would not work. We should've known when the mechanic stated they have repaired this lift 6 times. We called to let them know we would be returning, however, they wouldn't refund the charge. Apparently, we were supposed to stop everything that day and return it to them right after we spoke with them. They used to be Total Grand Rental. They have no pride in their work or business. Go elsewhere. Their pricing may be good, but how much is your time worth?

Do not buy anything at this store they do not care about the customer, they do not stand behind their products and if you spend 1200 on a new saw here and it is failulty they will blame you for it. They are rude, condescending, and completely unapologetic. I would not give them 1 star if a negative star was available.

This place is awful!!! I rented a machine from them and realized it was broken as soon as I plugged it in. I called in and was told that they would exchange it but they gave me a tool that didn’t work for the job I had. Again, an exchange was made and that machine broke down before the leased time was expired. When I asked for a partial refund, I was told that it was approved. But as soon as I hung up the phone, they made an unauthorized charge to my credit card! I immediately called them and was told that the third machine was much more expensive than the machine detailed on my only signed invoice. This is clearly a business ran by people that are used to taking advantage of people. It’s Truely disgraceful! Don’t ever rent from them or give them your banking info!!!

This place does not deserve the single star rating. Over the course of 3 days they rented out 3 machines to me. The first was broken and when I called and let them know, they confirmed that specific machine breaks frequently and I need to load up a 150 pound machine and bring it back to them for exchange. The broken machine was exchanged for a machine that was not proper for the job so another exchange was made and that machine broke before the 3 day rental contract had expired. When ownership was approached to resolve this issue, I was told that I should know without being told that all machines require daily maintenance at the rental shop. Ownership was hostile, angry and yelling at me and refusing to "talk about the past." I demanded at least a partial refund of my money and was told after much grumbling that I would be credited one day. I agreed to that and then another charge from this company was applied to my card without my consent. I called again and ownership told me that the third machine that was rented is much more expensive than the original machine that was noted on my original signed invoice. I am absolutely outraged by this swindler! This business is ran by a foul tempered crook!! Do not give them your credit card info or rent out any of their broken down machinery.

We were renting a bunch of equipment and party supplies for our wedding. I thought everything was squared away, but it was not. Two days before the wedding, I called to ask if it was at all possible to get an early drop off so we could start setting up early to be less stressed. When I called, they said I did not even have a delivery! WHAT?!! I panicked and asked to please get a delivery as soon as possible. They were not helpful and definitely not concerned about the issue at hand. All they told me was, we don't have any trucks available for delivery or a crew ready to deliver. They told me "You can come pick it up". Zero care, zero help. Two days before my wedding I'm scrambling calling everybody I know with pickup trucks or trailers to try and pick up my rentals before they close! When we get there, theres a dozen employees just standing there and a bunch of delivery trucks just parked there. Very unhelpful, careless company. We will never rent from them again! Such an unnecessary headache.

I've been renting equipment from TGR for 13 years and have always had excellent service. The equipment has consistently been in good repair, customer service has always been good and their prices are the best in town. However, I had a situation this week where a breakdown in communication cost me $400 more than I expected. This probably happened because I switched equipment type and rental duration midstream and was accidentally quoted the wrong weekly rate.Although I wasn't happy with the way the manager, Brian, handled the situation, I'm not one to let one bad experience overshadow 13 years if good experiences. My only real complaint is that the manager failed to accept any responsibility for the miscommunication and I had to bear the full brunt of the error.Nevertheless, as far as I'm concerned, TGR is still the best choice for rental equipment in Flagstaff.

Ordered about 12 table cloths some of different sizes/styles, about 60 napkins, and two patio heaters for my recent wedding. They were so easy to work with, had everything we needed, and delivered all the rentals exactly when they said they would the day of. Would definitely recommend this place for any rental needs !!
