My wife and I stayed a week at the Clarkdale Lodge while visiting Sedona. The drive to Sedona is not bad at all and take about 40 minutes one way. The rooms are satisfactory and clean. Downtown Clarkdale is also worth checking out when staying.

My family has used this lodge several times, but this will be the LAST time. They "overbooked" and stuck them in a TINY room not suitable for three people. They had booked a downstairs room, as one of them is disabled. Because of Management's "mistake" they were put upstairs and the stairs are a rotted out safety hazard.A call to them did no good. They were "sorry". SORRY INDEED.

Quiet place that is cozy and perfect size for a couple to get away. All the amenities are there so nothing to bring. Great views amd super place to unplug.Nearby activities: The Verde Valley Train is only 1 mile away. Copper Museum is walking distance.

There are positives here. We liked the location. The king bed is very comfortable. The kitchen is sufficiently stocked. All the bathroom fixtures worked well. The unit was quite clean. It was very quiet (second floor.)There are some negatives that will keep us from staying again. There is a lot of deferred maintenance. Outside - rotting wood in the steps, overgrown trees blocking the way, dirty common areas. In our unit one pane of window glass was broken out and clear plastic wrap was (poorly) taped over it. One window A/C unit had a large gap where the window was raised for the unit. We chased a lot of moths 2 nights till we discovered it & blocked it. No toilet paper holder in the bathroom, no towel bar for bath towels (plenty of room for both of them.) The "living room" has the TV, 2 chairs and a small table between the chairs. 2 small footstools would go a long way (or a couple of recliners.) As it was, we used kitchen chairs to put our feet up but it was generally very uncomfortable after an hour. You can't see the TV from the bed so that was out. Fix the windows and spend $100 on these items - a little comfort goes a long way.An older, dated place is fine if it's maintained properly and furnishings are comfortable. A little work is needed here.

Love the location of Clarkdale Lodge. So near Cottonwood Old Town, Dead Horse Park, Jerome, & the National Monument ruins. Within reach of Sedona --- seemed to take us 25 min. And not so far away from Prescott for a day visit to the beautiful town plaza and dining there. Well Situated!Convenient for home cooking -- our unit had a good kitchen set up. That saved money & gave us control over our diet. ALSO the management was very accommodating and kind around a change we needed to make due to an illness in the family --- great customer service once we reached the right person to talk to. They were very creative about making changes --- wonderful to work with!

Large unit (we were in 104). Bedroom, living room, kitchen. On-site parking. Quiet. Great views. Reasonably priced. Close to Jerome, Sedona, Cottonwood, Oak Creek, Flagstaff & Prescott. Beautiful drives thru the mountains. Short walk (50 yards) to the new Smelter Brewery. No food but great beer (you gotta try the chocolate stout!). Another 50 yards to Violetta's cafe & bakery. A must-stop. Plenty of bar restaurants in Cottonwood. You won't go hungry. The mattresses at the lodge could use updating. Would have been more comfortable with a box spring under the mattress. Otherwise, a great place to stay. We'll go back again. Also pet friendly.

A great place to spend a few nights in peace and quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of Sedona. The most interesting places in Sedona are only 30-40 minutes away. And this hotel offers a variety of rooms with kitchen and bathroom where you can easily prepare your meals and have a good rest after long excursions to the beautiful trails. I highly recommend this place.

Located near Jerome, Cottonwood, and Sedona in the Verde Valley. Nice views. Very clean. Pretty much everything you need is there. We were quite comfortable and will return here next time we're in the area.Rooms: Our room was on the 2nd floor. There is no elevator so you have to be able to climb a flight of stairs. There are 1st floor accessible rooms.Nearby activities: Jerome is a cool old mining town turned into stores, all of which are local owned and run, not national big business. Sedona is great for it's views and outdoor activities. Old town Cottonwood has a lot of quaint shops, restaurants, and wine tasting rooms. Clarkdale has the Copper museum and polar express (in the winter)Safety: We felt safe the entire time we were there.Walkability: The copper museum and a couple of restaurants are within walking distance as well as a nice town green.Food & drinks: Either bring your own and prepare it in your room or there are plenty of local places to eat.Noteworthy details: Common areas have a good selection of books and games. we had satellite tv in both the bedroom and living room.

I have so many concerns. This is a turnkey operation. I don't know how frequently inspections and walk thrus are exercised. When you "restore " a historic structure what do you do to honor the history and at the same time insure safety for the current generation? We spent the night in Room 203. You have to access the upstairs via an exterior wooden staircase that could have been easily built with the original original lodge. If you see the attached photos the stairwell is in poor condition. Even casual observation of the wood reveals advanced deterioration. If fire were to occur how could you safely escape Room 203 ? When the old miner's quarters were converted to the Lodge why wasn't access to the second floor updated with non-combustible material ( Metal?Concrete?) ?!Nor was there a fire escape ladder stored in the room in case of fire blocking or destroying the risky aged wooden stairwell and foyer. What are the requirements in the Town of Clarkdale or Yavapai for fire safety in public lodging?Concern #2 ! Stepping into a bathroom with a tub whose floor is waiting to ambush any unsuspecting user. Lumpy, uneven, without any level surface while showering or bathing. No wall grips or bars . How did this pass inspection?Concern#3 PR Photos that leave the impression that the "Shabby Chic" decor is clean & stylish.Let's simply leave it at Shabby not Chic.A large warning or caveat for your future consideration.....$144 for the night? Hostel pricing would be better.

My elderly parents stayed here for two weeks and here is what they experienced and I viewed. Here is a list of things on our smaller room on the first floor that was wrong: bed is broken, light above bed is out, NO FUNCTIONING SMOKE DETECTOR out in hallway, windows have zero insulation, there's only portable electric heaters, parking lot has tons of potholes, no security lighting that works outside, hot water takes 5-10 minutes to get going and it never gets completely hot. There is no passion or maintenance for this property. It could be so much more. They recommend staying at the Park Hotel per their daughter. The top story rooms are known to be comfortable and much better.

Even if you have a confirmed reservation, you will might get cancelled!A group of us, 6 couples, visited Clarkdale Lodge on a scouting trip for a future trip. The lodge is very rusty on the outside, but it is over 100 years old. The rooms have been remolded and are comfortable. We were planning to go back in October. Here's the problem. We book 10 rooms for a 2 day stay , Friday and Saturday. We would have 20-22 people in our group. We looked for dates that were open and we booked all of the rooms. We received an email conformation for each room, Each room was paid for. Several days later I received an email from Daniel, Innkeeper and owner. His email said that he had to cancel several of the room. He randomly cancelled 3 of the rooms. He stated that he never lets all of the rooms get booked for a weekend. He stated he wanted to keep rooms open for guests to stay longer. I informed 2 of the other couples and then proceeded to each book a room. The again received an email conformation, and then the next day their reservation was also cancelled. Daniel claimed that another website had booked those rooms and essentially were double booked. After several phone calls to the number listed...(BTW, no one ever answers, there is not a manager or employee on site, leaving voice mail messages which never get returned), and several emails, Daniel did respond. We explained that we were a group of mostly veterans, and we were joining other groups in the area for that weekend. We would have spent $3000 for the rooms alone. Our group would have spent money at the local places and told hundreds of other people about our stay.Daniel basically indicted that he was hoping for rooms for a longer stay. He indicated that our group was not a good fit for his lodge and the community. Very surprisingly he seemed to speak for the community and said our money and tourism was not welcome.Clarkdale is struggling to survive. When we were there previously, we visited many of the local places on our scouting trip. We talked to the local merchants and they expressed concerns about the future and success of the town.As a result of Daniel and Clarkdale Lodge, all of our reservations are cancelled and we will be staying in Cottonwood.I hope for the future of the town of Clarkdale, the Clarkdale Lodge will be more accommodating. We were told by Daniel that he isn't worried about getting rooms booked because all of his rooms are booked every weekend.oddly, upon check this weekend and all of the weekends up to October, there a plenty of rooms to rent.
